    • Just a small addition, for people recording on an iPhone all the stereo recording is out the window. It’s all mixed to mono BUT the input from the two transmitters will be more important since you can’t change it in your edit.

  • Thanks! Believe it or not, I bought the DJI Mic 9/22/22 and just used it today (8/13/23) for the first time. I have a horrible habit of buying ahead of my skill set ... I watched this video at least once after buying and watched again this morning before my first go ... actually using the transmitter only for voice over. Very happy and this video helped me a lot! I know it is a year old video but I am a year behind. Your channel is a huge resource/reference for me as I slowly learn video technique, video editing and storytelling. Thank you, Jevon!

    • Seeing as they plug into the input jack on the camera are they already beaten to the audio of the video clip you’re recording? Or do you have to sync it up to the video once you pull in the audio clips from the transmitter? I was hoping it would be baked in as well

They sync and bam, also onboard recording are you serious? amazing. It rolls with your video when you plug it into the mic hole. The nav recording is for back up yes you will have to sync that way. @@ryansulak

I particularly appreciate the Workflow chapter. • Thanks so much for showing us again how you do it! I love the look and I keep trying to do these as “assignments” to learn. My camera has two metering options, the ambient meter and the flash meter. When I do these under varying conditions, I go 2/3 underexposed for ambient and 1/3 overexposed for flash. So there is a stop difference, I find it makes a good pop but it can always be pulled back in post or adjusted on the go. I save my go-to on C3 so it’s always the same when I access it. I would love for you to explain these built-in metering functions; how are they calculated and when do they work; when don’t they work. I’m a hobbyist with kids and rarely have the time to fine tune in the field, so I need it already programmed beforehand. Custom functions are my best friend. Thanks again for the great educational videos!

  • Amazing wireless mic system. It's super easy to use. The only confusion people might have is using the Mono and Stereo modes with one or two mics. Mono one mic - records dual mono track (1 person talking) No post audio editing needed) Mono two mics - mixes both mono tracks into a single stereo track (two people talking at the same time) No post audio editing needed. Stereo one mic - records only the left channel (you have to duplicate this track in post to have stereo sound) Stereo two mics - send the L and R channel individually to the receiver and you have a single stereo track (not practical for recording two people as you will have one person on the L and the second on the R . You have to mix the channels in post to have Stereo) The easiest way to see how this works is plug your headphones into the receiver and get your mics out, change from mono to stereo, play with the options and you will see how it changes the sound and channels live. I am using this with a Sony A7III and the audio input level on my camera is set at 3.

    • I so appreciate you posting this clarification. My head spins trying to get this concept straight. I understand Mono vs Stereo. What I don't understand is which I want to record for talking-head types of personal (non-commercial) videos. Your explanation gives me the how. Now all I need is the why and your parentheses notes almost get me there. I'm printing your comment and will read it twice a day until my 💡turns on. Thank you.

  • I love how no one is mentioning the horrible Hiss sound that's coming from the transmitter with a lot of Lavalier Mics (like the Rode Lavalier GO) that makes the sound unusable. Maybe that's the reason it got delayed a million times, probably DJI is aware of that and tries to fix it before release. Some yt channels mention it briefly and still praise this to heaven - sorry but most of the people don't want to attach a huge transmitter to the shirt of your interview partner, that doesn't look professional. If this is fixed it's an awesome device, but until then this not usable for a lot of content creators.

    • Haven’t had that happen on my WGII set

      @EricKolibas@EricKolibas2 жыл бұрын
    • Yes, you need certain lavaliers that don't bring any "interference" noise, not hiss. Bought the Saramonic lavaliers with it, one being white and the other being black depending on the clothing, with my fingers crossed!

    • @@Bo_Hazem I use the Purple Panda mics and they sounds just fine as well

      @EricKolibas@EricKolibas2 жыл бұрын
    • @@EricKolibas that problem doesn't occur on the WGII as far as I know

      @filmhandwerk@filmhandwerk2 жыл бұрын
    • @@Bo_Hazem ...yes it's interference noise, but it happens with a lot of Lavalier Mics paired only with the dji mic. These mics work fine with the Rode WGII. If you already own a 100$ mic and suddenly get interference noise only with the dji mic that's definitely a bummer

  • Jevon, question. Can you use these mics in conjuction with the DJI Mavic Air 2s to allow synced audio recording with drone footage? I use a galaxy S10 for my linked device for the drone, which though paired with the USBc cable to the controller, additionally has a aux mic imput on the phone. Would that work? Or would I just be using the back up audio and sync it in post?

  • Just got this, even with all the little lapel setups I have, the stand alone recording sold me so I can do quick videos without any tethering to a recorder. The one thing I noticed is that they "downgraded" the accessory case, I just got a draw string pouch, I would have much preferred the zipper case you had in the video. BTW best coverage video ever, it was long and I am ok with that because your pace is good, and you kept it engaging, did lots of good camera work and had good audio. I have one question however, if I took just a transmitter to do stand alone recording, no way to set the gain on it, but if I set the gain on the receiver, does this only affect the output from the receiver to another device, or will the gain setting also affect the local recording directly to the transmitter?
