I was clearing old forestry land in Brunswick Co NC late one evening. With the lights on I was working the head top to bottom of trees and brush. All the sudden I started seeing feathers, shut the head off and backed up. I got into a bunch of turkey roosting. Why the noise from the machine didn’t frighten I don’t know. Scared the crap out of me. I’ll try to find the aftermath video and post it. Keep your windshield down and watch out for barbed wire and turkeys! Lol
It would be nice if you had a metal detector or sensor on the front of the mulcher head. That way if there's a piece of metal metal fence post barbed wire old engine block car rim buried and the thick brush it would start beeping and let you know something's there before you hit it . Beep beep beep and protect your cutter teeth.

Wow, that did a fantastic job. How long would it take in real time, if you were not videoing? I have seen a video of someone using a similar thing on a full size Bulldozer, I was very surprised at how big the trees were it was turning in to mulch. Love watching this type of thing, overgrown lot to usable area, fantastic.

Would it be worthwhile to drag the big trunks of wood out and cut them up for firewood? Less to mulch and a bit of extra income.

That`s a great setup, even on the 120, those were some pretty big trees and it made short work of that mess, cleaned up really nice.

Try using a Brown's tree cutter it's like a bush hog on steroids . It has a round stumpjumper and 8 blades that cut down 6 inch trees in less than 1/8 of a second.. it's the next best thing compared to a forestry mulcher.
Do you charge by the job or the hour? What would you charge for a job like this?
Nice work. A person could rake this bio-mass up and burn it in a sawdust stove. That amount could heat a small house for an entire winter

How do you account for when the customer says there isn’t stuff in there or doesn’t know if there is? Takes extra time and can cause damage to the machine. How do you work that out?
Don't work for free. Include maintenance costs in your quote. Some insurance company's give cover.

I am wondering what color of caution tape would be best to use to flag a do not mulch past this spot?
Normally yellow tape but all Mulchers have already determined the area before hand. Sometime there can be miss communication.
Davin is very personable so I believe they look at the job and they let him know what they need. He is as great in front of camera as he is in front of his customers.
We used red or yellow, tied about 4-6' up on trees not to mulch or to mark a boundary when doing right of way clearing.

There are ones that are much larger. Tigercat, Fecon, FAE and a bunch of others make units that clear 10-12 feet in a single pass. BUT they take serious HP to do it.

1/6th of an acre (square acres = 208'4" x 208'4") would be ~68x68'... not as small as he makes it sound. That equipment is a 'track loader/mulcher/forestry mgmt' VORACIOUS work monster.... 8-). WOW.... watching it chew up a tree that has to be 6" minimum is amazing. I hope the miscellaneous debris didn't damage that equipment... GREAT JOB! I actually have a personal project hidden in a 3ring binder - my own dream home, which has been redesigned over the last 30 yrs, is now a one-level ranch with 2 attached solaria, greenhouse, detached carport w/double shed (one half storage & power control room for solar panel setup on both house & carport) and the other half a garden workroom. The plans are laid out on 'quad' paper (which is actually 5/in not 4/in, much better for house layout). Nice to know how to clear a lot for my dream home (if the lottery fairies ever deign to notice me... ).
