Never did I ever think I would be sailing a Superyacht! But thanks to a wild case of serendipity, and our friend Captain Mike, we had what was no doubt one of the best (and most luxurious) days of sailing we’ve ever had!
Captain Mike is a longtime patron of ours that we got to know during our time in New Zealand. He has been the captain of DESTINATION, a 135-foot aluminum sailing yacht, for almost 20 years. So, he knows a thing or two about boats and has helped us with more than a few projects. Including installing our new sails and tramps: www.gonewiththewynns.com/curi...
We became good friends and now here we all are in Cannes, France! It’s been well over a year since our time together in New Zealand. But the sailing community is a small world (even if the boats aren’t). We knew we would meet up again but, never did I ever think it would be while he was on the job.
It was an unforgettable experience aboard one of the world’s most beautiful sailing superyachts. Thank you Mike and Sailing Yacht DESTINATION!

WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of modern-day documentarians, perpetual travelers, and seekers of tall tales.
We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us.
Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. It's all about managing our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so.
We've lived off the grid for over 10 years now in everything from a Van to RV to a Sailboat. And over time we have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water, and managing our waste.
Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity

  • It always amazes me how spotlessly clean the crews keep these super yachts. The knowledge and professionalism of the captains is remarkable.

    • Yep. The yacht I worked on, the deckhands washed the boat every single day.

    • I worked on a similar yacht. Many people we spoke to around the world genuinely questioned what we did all day as a crew, like it was some kind of holiday camp.🤣The amount of dedication, work and money to keep these boats operational, safe and looking good is another level. We ran with 7 crew, full time staff, living onboard.

I have to say, the owners allowing Mike to bring you sailing on this yacht that is for sale was brilliant! They now have a video that is absolutely wonderful to show off the boat! If the people they took the boat to Cann to show didn't buy it, they will have this video to show it off with. Much better video tour than most sales videos!

  • Great photography. Thanks all! As for medium big monohulls, this design seems really nice. Mike did a great job highlighting its benefits at: 5:25. Builder is Alloy Yachts of New Zealand, now out of business. Built around 2001, 2002. Aluminum hull and Carbon masts. 1:20 that anchor seems really small for a boat that size. Cool retracting mechanism.

Good camera angles showing the clean lines and the raw power under sail, that allowed the beauty of this yacht to speak for itself.
