By his answer, Singapore's Military is more closer with US than China! 🎉
It has to be. China is the biggest threat in the region.
logically
The US can do the dirty work of keeping China off Spratly, Malaysian, Philippine and Vietnamese waters while Singapore's hands are clean.
Singapore uses mostly American military hardware.
Singapore military has nothing to do with China, it is 0. nothing to compare.
There're different level of state relationship, Singapore and US are Strategic Partnership. Singapore and China mostly trade relation.
Not true….. if Singapore and US are strategic partnership, they will stand with US whole time….. the reason they say they don’t take side between 2 superpowers, already tell us the relationship between Singapore and US……
When you have a friend that is constantly making trouble it becomes very annoying. A good move is to unfriend such a person.
I’m only using right earphone piece and found that there’s no sound coming through.
I am afraid the Chinese are not fool. They don't believe what Singapore says (don't choose side but be friendly to both), but look at the facts. In their eyes, Singapore is the protected country by the US. Buying all military equipment from US and follow US's order, which I personally agree. In fact, I used to talk with some Chinese about this when I worked in China. Surprisingly, they feel Indonesians and Malaysians are friendly to China, but most of them don't like Singapore (because Singapore's military ties with the US). No choosing side becomes impossible later or sooner.
I believe that the Singaporean leadership has enough political wisdom to maintain a balance between China and the United States.
团结一切可以团结的力量啊,现在又不是热战。就算是德国、澳大利亚这种全方位盟友也跟中国有经贸往来。我们现在就是要稳住,欢迎一切合作,哪怕对方不是真心。

Since independence on August 9 1965, Singapore has leaned heavily towards the west, similar to the Republic of Korea during the dictatorial regime of Syngman Rhee.
When the Ukraine War broke out, and on the pretext that “the UNSC resolution to condemn Russia’s aggression against Ukraine failed to pass due to Russia’s veto”, Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs announced that the small island state will act in concert with other “like-minded” countries (the U.S.and its handful of vassals actually) to impose appropriate sanctions and restrictions against Russia. But what did Singapore do when Israel wages war against the helpless Palestinians? An atrocious invasion condemned by the entire world with the exception of the United States. What did Singapore do when the United States invaded countries with no capacity to fight back- Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan etc.?
😂 I agree with u. In fact we SG should learn from both Russian and Israeli, expand our territory! We Singaporeans are must more hardworking than our neighbors countries, we deserve more land to benefit the all humankind.
@@HawkishMerlion1965 Yes. As the 20 units of F-35 jets will put Singapore air force in the “premier league”, or so claimed Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen. With that Singapore can tow behind the U.S. just like the other vassals, the U.K. and Australia. Singapore will become the mightiest country at least in South East Asia despite being a tiny island of 730 km². After all, Singapore’s friend, Israel is arguably the most powerful country in the Middle East. And Israel with a land area of 22,145 km² is only 30 times bigger.
But wait a minute. Did Pentagon just say that only half of its F-35 is mission capable? Hopefully, Singapore is given the “mission capable” one.
@HawkishMerlion1965 ?Are you crazy? Singapore is a small country among small countries. Don't think you can do anything with a little money.

@@TPDTNDthey are geographically far away enough that they are less than a threat compared to China. Besides there’s enough Chinese influence still in Singapore that will keep such a thing from happening. @@rock3times What I mean by vice versa is “with China around, Singapore doesn’t fear America”. It works both ways for Singapore. No one asked Mr Lee the question on behalf of Congressman Tom Cotton?... "Have you ever been a member of CCP?"

“I look at elections and certainly GE 2020 not as the cause of change, certainly not the cause of political change in Singapore, but I see them as a reflection of a state of decline, the decline of a larger system and the PAP at the heart of this system,” he asserted.
😂😂😂 I agree PAP not comparable to it past. But currently no opposition party want to takeover as government, not even WP😂😂😂. I see other opposition party are more willingly to be government by forming opposition alliances , but WP only want to be opposition only.
As long as people like Senator Tom Cotton avoid making news and impact in the US over considering Singapore as part of China due to xenophobia, Singapore will prefer the US over China. But the xenophobia is a real issue since anti-Chinese sentiment and "Yellow Peril" in the US has been consistent since the late 19th century and often seems ready to bubble up again at any point.
Chinese nationalists agree with Tom Cotton. 🤦🏼♀️

Singapore was founded by the Malays who are the native people of Singapore and not Chinese. In fact, the official language of Singapore is the Malay language and the national anthem is in the Malay language as well. Its success is the success of the multi racial society and not the Chinese.
As an American, ethnic identity is equal to national identity, it can be equal and it can not be equal. Drop your ethic identity and loyal to your national. Identity is objective and subjective the same time. China don’t believe in you because you are not holding national identity. You rebel China, but at the same time you showed loyalty, this is how contradicted the identity. Not side is correct or wrong and as an American, I want you to embrace individualism, freedoms and be able to challenge status quo You are 80% and up in wisdom in what you’ve said. I went to Singapore in 2023 it was a decent country however I like to see unity more that every citizens would speak centralised under a single language. Second, undoubtedly Singapore is prosperous but Singapore have to know some critical ideas , it might not be welcomed but it is the best for individual and community. I would say prioritise individualism, if not I will be continue to see a stressful country, citizens. The level I want to see is here but you are not reaching. Decent but have work to do.
Disappointed to hear that Singapore is ethnic Chinese. Singapore is a multiethnic country for centuries and centuries. How does the Indians and the Malays feel when they hear such thoughts coming from the past head of state. Not good I am sure. Insulted and disappointed.

Did Taiwan Chinese government ordered the fake vaccines? They must explain to the families of thousands of Covid victims.
I'm Asian American respect all three countries; the US, Singapore and China. However while PM Lee's qualification that it isnt about ethnicity alone isn't shared by many Singapore Chinese who see that factor as salient. As China asserts it influence perhaps even more aggressively in terms of interference, claims of the South China Sea and cyber intrusions we don't know how this will play out in the region. Beijing has always planned to reach out to ethnic Chinese formally with associations and forge a bond of ethnic loyalty based upon Chinese culture and civilization but hiding the political agendas. This may be problematic in South East Asia if money and business from China becomes less attractive to grease over cultural jingoism.
As an Asian American, I support China over America. China has never racially discriminated against other Asians while the US is actively attacking Asians in America
@@ronsmith3523 have you seen how the Chinese behave in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar? 😂
I am English educated since young as I born in SG, I work and live in both America and Europe. I can confirm that Ang moh are mostly racists. As long u are not white skin u will be treated differently even u are western cultured since young. So I hope china rise even I have nothing to associate with china except same skin color.
I'm not from India it's old and wrong to generalize Asians in America. Asians are very diverse. For example Indian Americans are classified as Asians by the Official US Census Bureau and Pew Research. They are the richest and most educated ethnic group in the US earning more than double the US average across all groups including whites and Jews. They are the fastest growing Asian group in the United States. They're 1.2% of the population and they control 6 trillion US dollars of the economy according to Fortune magazine in December 2023. According to research done by Stanford University Professor Ilya Strebulev they are 34% of the unicorn startups and most were born in India, unicorns in the United States are valued at 1 billion USD, they're not just CEOs and 10% of academics in the top universities in America but entrepreneurs with no guanxi nor affirmative action bottom up, not top down from the government such as Blacks and Latinos. They don't have any connections with the Indian government. They are also active in social and public work representing different ethnic groups in the United States. They are less exclusive than the Chinese and other East Asians. And they are found in the media as well as in law and government many of them run tech firms as CEOs and they represent 40 % of medical doctors. They are also venture capitalists. So the stereotypes are very old in Singapore and Malaysia I notice that there is ethnocentricism amongst the Chinese in terms of renting and as well as promotion of Indians, people who have been born in these two countries for three generations. It's not just the Malays who discriminate. So please lets go by data and facts which are easily obtainable and can be verified by major news media such as CNBC, Bloomberg, Fortune, the Wall Street Journal, The Economist and official US data plus academic journals. Singapore has Sanskrit roots in name meaning Lion City. Indian company investments in Singapore are valued at 60 billion USD according to the Confederation of Indian Industry. Not bad.
Well , in 1967, Singapore requested help from many countries for the Defence Military setup. Middle East Israel accepted and helped Singapore. Both India & Egypt refused to help Singapore Defence Military setup😢 . So naturally, Singaporean have different views on India & Egypt compare to the Israel.
I love how PM is able to use all these facts to sell the Singapore brand!
Singapore has so many ex China Chinese serving National Service. If there is a conflict with China. Guess who would they fight for? 😂 Under China law, as long as a China Chinese is born in China. Regardless of where they migrated to China law apply ro them. Not forgetting their extended family is still in China 😂
Wrong man I'm a Singapore Chinese but I dun feel like fighting for china. So you might want to do that but you don't speak for all Chinese here. And i don't know about that Chinese law but you are certainly subject to Singapore law. That's a fact. Most Chinese here don't have extended families in China. Many in Malaysia, some in Indonesia maybe. Man, you must be new to Singapore.
