World No.1 Iga Swiatek rolled to her second career BNP Paribas Open title on Sunday without dropping a set throughout the tournament!
With Zendaya in attendance, the Pole toppled Maria Sakkari in the final - a rematch of the 2022 Indian Wells finale - after getting past Danielle Collins, Linda Noskova, Yulia Putintseva, Caroline Wozniacki, and Marta Kostyuk en route.
Swiatek now owns eight career WTA 1000 titles, and 19 career Hologic WTA Tour titles in all, having won at least two titles in each of the last four seasons.

  • Najlepsze w tym wszystkim jest to, że ta część sezonu , która Idze zawsze przynosi najwięcej punktów jeszcze się nie zaczęła, oraz to, że Iga wcale nie musi grać na najwyższym poziomie aby wygrywać duże turnieje, jej obecna forma jest tak gdzieś na 4 w skali ocen szkolnych. Gdy Iga wskoczy na 5 bieg, to naprawdę wszystko będzie możliwe włącznie z Wimbledonem.

    • jeśli się nie przegrywa seta, robi kilka bajgli to ciężko mówić że to nie jest jej najwyższa forma. Nie można przecież liczyć, że Iga będzie wygrywać sety po 6:0. Z taką dyspozycją na jej ulubionej nawierzchni nie powinnśmy mieć obaw ale nie oczekiwałbym, że rywalki będą stać i przyglądać się, szczególnie Sabalenka. Myślę, że Białorusinka lada chwila wróci do swojej dobrej gry i to ona będzie najgroźniejsza w Paryżu.

    • @@dg4846Iga jest teraz bardzo solidna, ale czy to jest jej najwyższa forma, to bym się nie zgodził. Nie chodzi o to, że brakuje mi "rowerków" w jej wykonaniu , tylko że te pierwsze sety Igi są często bardzo wyrównane i mogły pójść równie dobrze w drugą stronę. Gdy Iga bywała w swojej szczytowej formie, to od początku do końca kontrolowała wynik każdego meczu, nie było żadnego gonienia wyniku od stanu 4:1 na przykład. W tym roku to jest dosyć częste u Igi i tu jest moim zdaniem ta przestrzeń do poprawy.

    • I agree with you. Is better win in 2 sets and save energy for another game :-)). I can’t imagine how much work she put in the training to keep #1. I don’t like the nationalist hater’s comments - if she’ll be American even the comments and TV commentators will be much more enthusiastically.

USA market is huge so it always comes in handy to have popular american sportsman so you can inspire young americans to choose tennis and sell stuff to them. There's nothing to be mad about, it's just business. As far as I know americans are very competitive and only champion counts. 2nd best is first loser and nobody really cares about him. If Iga was american media would pump her to be 2nd Serena. I will say it again - it's not a matter of who we like and who we don't like, it's a matter of profit.

  • She’s clearly fully fit and has made a myriad of improvements to her game since the beginning of the year, but what’s caught my eye is her unpredictability - especially with regard to her movement, stance and timing. Her team clearly thought she was getting a bit predictable at times and now she seems to be able to hit backhands at a more closed stance as well (when she wants to) . Anyway, going back to the unpredictability, obviously the serve motion’s changed as well

  • Wow, I was watching those matches but when you can compare the best actions from all of them Caroline Woźniacki looked as the biggest threat for Iga. It was a great match before injury but even with this small sample you can tell that her defense skills and good offensive could thread Iga.

    • Nie zgadzam sie. Kobiecy tenis dla mnie jest ciekawszy. Np. ogladam mecze Hurkacza ale mnie nudza :). W kobiecym tenisie dzieje sie wiecej. jest wiecej przelaman, wymian, punktow przelomowych w meczu itp. W meskim czesto jest po ptostu gem za gem i tie break lub jakies jedno przelamanie itp :). Oczywiscie tenis meski stoi ogolnie na wyzszym poziomie ale to nie jest to samo co interesujace ogladanie.

  • What a devastating result for Iga. She lost two games in the second set vs. Puntiseva. I hope she didn't suffer an emotional damage from all the tension and excitement. Quarter final: Wozniacki retired, Semi final: 6:2, 6:2 in one hour (more a training session), Final: 6:4, 6:0 in about an hour. The other female "athletes" have only enough power to compete for 30 minutes and then get outperformed by one or two classes. Who is supposed to buy tickets to watch this?

    • I AGREE iGA keeps improving. Many of these matches are just practice sessions. All the experts claim clay is her best surface? Only a few players that can compete in a 3 set match. Her Quickness and tenacity sets her apart. She had trouble on grass ,not enough grass court tournaments. On one of her interviews she stated she had a few areas of her game to work on. That is why she wins.
