The invention of the wheel had a great impact on human's life. It bought a big change in the human history. So let us know how the wheel was invented with a simple story of early humans.
Story of invention of the wheel
It all started about 5,000 years ago.
The early humans faced a lot of difficulty in carrying heavy loads from one place to another.
It is believed that one day a man saw a log roll down a hill.
This gave him the idea of making the wheel so that he could reduce his effort.
He tied a few logs together, placed the load on it and now he could drag it
for a longer distance.
Gradually, he started to cut round pieces from the log.
He then made two holes at the centre of the wheels and ran a stick through them.
He placed a few more pieces of wood to make a cart.
Now, he could easily carry load where ever he wanted.
And so, the wheel was invented.
Uses of the wheel
The greatest use of the wheel is transportation.
Carts driven by animals were made which reduced human effort in traveling long distances.
Besides transportation, the wheel was used to make clay pots and utensils using the potter’s wheel.
As a matter of fact no one really knows who invented the wheels.
Wheels first appeared in ancient Mesopotamia, modern-day Iraq, more than 5,000 years ago.
The wheel was first used by the sumerians for pottery and later for transportation.
No wheels exist in nature.
It is a disc - or circle shaped device invented by humans.
Now a days wheels are used on cars, bikes, buses, ferris wheel, airplane wheels and baby strollers.
