100% accurate description of how Ford screwed up by calling it a Mustang. There are going to be plenty of disappointed people trying to race Teslas and....pretty much any petrol car.
I like Ford I think they make good cars and Vans but this is a rotten egg. If it was called something other than a Mustang Mach E it would be alright but the fact that it has Mustang and Mach next to E just doenst go. Like water and electricity. Who ever thought of that idea needs there head banging in.
They clearly named it mustang and styled it as such because no one would’ve cared about the car otherwise. Hate is still attention.

487hp and 850Nm? I know that electric engines are less efficient at high speed, but this was totally NOT what I expected. I'm not kidding if I say that my 2009 Toyota Prius with 136 hp is just as fast at speeds above 150 km/h. It's a nice car but people have expectations if you throw around high performance numbers.
EVs aren't fast for their power at higher speeds with some very few exceptions.

Tbh I think it's a good car but real life performance (expectations) doesn't match specifications. If I would spend this kind of money on a car, I'd likely go for a Kia EV6 GT, or maybe a Tesla Model 3 Long Range with Acceleration Boost. I don't really like the minimalist interior of the Tesla though, but that's personal.

This Mustang Mach E pulls the name Mustang in the mud. And the sales are not doing well, you just have to take a look into the USA. And for last you can't compare a modern car with an electric motor with classic cars, especially since there is a lot more to them than just the big V8

I got to test drive the Mustang Mach-E AWD before its release and its really well built. Both interior and exterior. The car also felt really great driving but I cant remember the "cut of power" since i didnt push it super hard, and i had 2 guys from Ford in the car. And they didnt say anything about it either. But it felt quite strong up to like 150km/h. Very dissapointing tho when you see the final result now.
almost nowhere, except Germany, are you allowed to go faster than 150, so it's not really a big problem?
@@webfreakz Allowed is one thing, doing it because you can because you have a car with 487hp is another. Every driver is responsible for their own actions but I wouldn't want my Audi S5 with 448hp to have a 57s 100-200 time or tap out past 150km/h.
And still this crap cant do a 10% downhill for 4 fkn kilometers on paved road before it overheats and lock up the breaks and has to be towed away. Happend 6 or 7 times this summer in Norway on the same road 😂😂

I've been a bit harsh on the Mach E because it isn't a Tesla and I think that the more experienced Tesla has a better vehicle, but I was still pumped to see some actual in the wild videos. Your video checked that box for me bru! Great job.

I'm looking into a daily EV soon and was hoping you would be able to test a Polestar 2 performance with the upgraded power. I've seen a billion reviews of it, but no performance reviews.. 0-100 100-200 etc. thanks!

Ford is very proud of the Mustang ‘brand’. That is why they stretched the brand for their full electric line. And let’s be honest, this is the future. We ought to be glad the Mustang still has a future in electric cars.

Hey Max. I have had 3 Mustang GTs, currently driving a 21’ GT PP1 6 speed in Oxford White with Showstopper Red interior. I love Mustangs. This of course, is NOT a Mustang. I like that you recognize that. I know you like Mustangs, real Mustangs as I’ve seen your reviews. The GT350 is my favorite too. I love your openness to American Muscle cars. I know us Yanks have gotten a bad rap for our cars over the years… HOWEVER, considering you and Martin have driven almost every car on the planet. I trust your opinion. So, to watch you review real Mustangs with V8’s and other American performance cars and to enjoy driving them gives me great satisfaction with the cars America makes today and for the past decade or so. So keep it up! Don’t listen to the naysayers of American cars from the UK or other parts of Europe and continue to enjoy our machine from the Land of the Free…

I've seen a couple base model/ almost gt models. There alright I mean I would have one but not the biggest fan of them
the powertrains is severely limited by its constraints. Probably heat limited. Probably also amperage limited. Various reasons. Maybe also the motors aren't really designed for super high RPMs since reaching 200kph does require a lot of RPMs. Tesla was a long time limited at 230kph because of this reason, couldn't spin the motors a lot faster without ballooning the energy consumption. With their new carbon rotors, they can do that and reach 300kph (that is, they still didn't enable it on the plaid, afaik).
Nah.. even if a Porsche Taycan or Audi RS E-tron GT had 150hp and did 0-100kph in 12 sec i would still take one of them just of the look on the car! 🤣 haha… to be honest there is only 2 electric cars i like, e-tron gt and the Taycan, don’t know why. But i think it’s just because those cars does’nt scream look i’m an ev! It’s just a freakin Nice car!

Martin, the Americans are kings of marketing and business strategy , I can give them that. So there is a big reason calling it a Mustang. They will make the sales with this decision. You may not like it, but basically they don't care as this will make them money.
Eddy Currents are why electric motors lose power with higher RPM. Seems that Ford hasn't really mastered that aspect yet. Tesla, Mercedes and Porsche have already solved Eddy Current issues a long time ago

Totally agree on the Mustang name. That was a bad call and immediately created a bit of hate that was completely unnecessary. Regardless of how great it is or isn’t, it automatically starts at a disadvantage. The mustang was never and should never be a four door hatch back.
Ford killed the Puma and Cougar (now Kuga) in a similar fashion. Eventually everything becomes an SUV

Why go for a "premium" brand when modern EVs by “cheaper” brands can build such cars for tens of thousands of euros less? The drivetrain and performance is not an USP anymore while modern interiors and build quality is very good.

The sad thing is it didn't even have to be a Coyote to be done right. Give this thing the 350+150hp 3L ecoboost hybrid from Lincoln, perhaps with the 3.5T and 3.3 hybrid as lower tier engines, and it would be an amazing car. Or hell, just give it a freakin' 2spd gearbox like the Taycan.

The problem with electric engines is the huge delta between short term Power and long term Power. It is not the battery, it is the engine. You can easily design an electric engine that has 150kW for 2 min but only 50kW continuous. So the engine overheats if you need more than 50kw for longer periods of time. You could easily design it for 100kW continuous but then it is more expensive.
I haven't seen anyone do a 60mph sprint in 3.5 secs. Well, they have messed up the Mustang name. I do like the look though.
The wide angle is annoying honestly I would like a regular camera view so I can feel more connected with the car the wide angle throws that feeling off please fix it

it's called flanker.they use the mighty name of mustang to draw attention to their new product. this is mostly use in perfume business. for example; a brand has very succesful product and they want to produce another but totally different product and they use the previous products name with a little add on it. like ; givenchy - gentleman and givenchy - gentleman only or ysl - kouros and ysl - body kouros.

The first error was call this car a Mustang
Mustang GTs are known as crowd killers for a reason. The Camaro SS 1LE is better set up. For the average joe getting one of these Mach-Es(most would be), the last thing you want is a squirrely back end. And yeah, it fails in the area it should exceed in: performance.
I was like hell no from the very start. Why would Mustang make this type of vehicle? They are symbol of an American muscle car. Watched the video out of curiosity and it made my day at 15:00 😂 way to go Skoda disel

Guess we have to wait for a facelift of this car. When Ford fixes the performance issiue, the package might be pretty tempting but *for now*, as the car is, I wouldn't touch it with a stick.
funny thing is, that they did the same mistake with the ford probe in the 90's. They called it a mustang but got a lot of hate from the community. After a while they backed down by giving the "new mustang" an own model "probe". Looks like they don't learn from the past...
