  • What a phenomenal swim in the last leg by the French. Omg!!! Stravius - what a beast. This has to be the best comeback ever in a relay! Most exciting relay (although I loved their 2012 Olympics win too).

    • It was good. Lesak's comeback against Bernard in Beijing 2008 and France's revenge in the 2012 London Olympics (Agnel vs Lochte) were just as good. Also, Stravius may be good, but Gilot is the boss.

  • This was the race that made Phelps reconsider his retirement after the 2012 Olympics. He was in the stands and visibly angry at the result. He vowed to win the sprint relay back for the USA and he accomplished it in Rio.

    • From who? If you're asking about any of the individual splits, the fastest here was the 3rd french swimmer who went 46.90......but, the fastest split *ever* is by an American called Jason Lezak who went 46.06 at the 2008 Olympics in the 4x100 free relay.

    • Lina Desbois Good point. I think the fastest ever textile-suit split in a relay belongs to Pieter van den Hoogenband from the 2004 Olympics, right? He went something like 46.74?
