This is by far the most amount of Tender Love and Care I have put into a video so far, so I really hope you all enjoy the video.
If you happen to notice editing inconsistencies such as my voice sounding slightly different in certain parts, that's because I recorded multiple parts over multiple days.
Sorry about any background noise if you hear any, I tried my best to mitigate any and all outside noises but it wasn't entirely possible. That's just how it goes when you live in the college dorms I guess.

There is actually a secret character in the steam version of super meat boy, Tim from the popular indie game "braid" he can rewind his movement while being invulnerable during it Type "outtatime" on the character select menu and play. Unlike other secret characters, there is no "Push the Buttons!" voice indicator
Tim is unlockable in the Switch version for...I forgot how many bandages, but he's unlockable through getting enough bandages, I know that!

I wish super meatboy had like some ultimate edition that brings all characters from the platforms they where exclusive too since exclusive wars are basically over. Along with level editor to all platforms.

@@francosardi-gc1wr When super meat boy released. Both Console and PC versions had different unlockable characters as exclusives. The PC version had level editor where you can create your own levels and play created levels by players online. Now that exclusives are somewhat dying eg xbox and sony are putting some of their games on PC. I feel like there is no need for super meat boy to have exclusive characters and features. Hell Microsoft and Nintendo are in a business partnership by having crossplay and Banjo Kazooie in Smash bros even though Banjo Kazooie is not available on any modern nintendo platforms. When smash bros creator Sakurai was doing his showcase of Banjo Kazooie, he literally said “go buy an xbox one if you want to play banjo kazooie”. Exclusive are slowly dying.

@@apecksar1858 No, for example Tim from Braid can revert up to 3 seconds of movements and Ninja from N can run extremely fast if you press both run buttons at the same time. Alien Hominid used to be console only version. Even with those characters that are kinda similar to pc, like Gish or Pink Knight, it would be cool to have them as different choice. But I think creators don't care that much about 13 year old game for that so I think we mostly can hope on some mod or something.
When you realise that Flywrench can be the 2nd best option in some levels.
Steve is always 1st though.

This video kinda got me back into super meat boy after not touching it for about 2 years. One thing though is I don’t remember flywrench being considered such a detriment, I actually quite like them. Cause of that I actually just went through the whole light world as flywrench, every level is possible. Some levels require you to think outside the box which was a nice challenge, if you put their gimmick to use you can accomplish some neat skips. Something I’ve taken to note is that flywrench’s second jump can differ in height depending on how long you let the first jump last. If you spam it it’ll go nowhere, if you let yourself get airtime it can make good horizontal movement and pretty good vertical hight. The light world run took me around 30-40 minutes to beat as flywrench and I’ll attempt dark world at some point as soon as I unlock it all as I have less progress done on pc. Uncertain if you’ve completed your dark world run yet but I hope you’re willing to give flywrench a chance
I found flywrench very helpful in chapter 5 light and dark when I was going for the no death achievements

Alien Hominid is not in the character select screen because of the different characters in the console version, you get different characters for the bandages. In order they are Gish, Alien Hominid, Tim, Spelunky, Pink Knight and The Ninja. Alien Hominid is the character you get for 30 bandages, replacing Josef on the PC version. For some reason, Alien Hominid was added to the PC version as a mistake maybe, this would explain why he is the only character (excluding meat boy) who doesn't have a character unlock screen. (also, proud flywrench user here, flywrench is way better than all the other characters)

Only 30 levels are impossible with him, using glitches. There's like 3 possible without them though, which is why he's not included. Edit: How have *2* people acted like they're so smart for saying it's a glitchless challenge when I already said it's 30 with glitches but like 3 without? I already said that.

@@brefcase Gish is only available in the console versions of Super Meat Boy and Plasmaman is playing on the PC version. Gooball is in the PC version and controls nearly identically to Gish, however.

Uh no, he was called mr Minecraft when he was nameless, then when mojang said his name they released a quick patch changing his name to steve, in the achievements it still says mr minecraft

That's amazing, you're good as hell in this game, the captain viridan key - meat zombies level moment was seriously so hard to pull off, I can't wait to see what you pull off with dark world.
After watching someone replay this game it makes me appreciate how much time was put into the characters the visuals and the everything of super meat boy. 12 years later and its still one of the best looking games Ive ever seen

I absolutely loved this video! The montage for World 4 was actually really neat and made me want to play the game myself. Only issue was that the start felt a bit slow but with some time it picked up to one of the greatest videos I have ever watched. Will make sure to watch more.

Wow - I'm suprised this video came out so recently! I still play SMB all the time - I'm surprised that you said that Flywrench was one of the characters you were hoping to avoid though! I've literally done an entire playthrough with just Flywrench before (at least of the light world - I can't remember if I've done every level of dark world with him, but I've certainly done many if not all of them with him) and unlike some characters, he can actually beat every stage as far as I know. Some characters (like Ogmo, for example, who I used a lot in my early game of my first playthrough) are (as far as I know) too slow for certain stages, like the ones where you disappearing cages and stuff like that. :) I know you were worried about Flywrench's jump height and sprint speed, but I never found either to be a problem - I've always found that he was fast enough to outpace any elements of the levels, and his jump was always high enough to get the job done. :) He's actually one of my favorite characters, and in fact, I actually think he makes many levels a lot easier - that extra jump can really save you sometimes, and his ability to preserve his height using his jumps mean that you can get a lot of extra distance with him in the air, which (in my experience) more than makes up for his lack of ability to jump off a wall :) Maybe I just got used to him or something, but yeah, going back to the game now, I actually find most levels easier with Flywrench than even Meat Boy, haha. :) But maybe I'm just weird or something. :) Anyway, great video, and I'm excited to see the dark world one next! :)

I find it interesting, I play the Nintendo switch version where characters are different, for example, we don't have head crab, but we have this black goo thing that has slow movement speed, low jump hight, can stick to walls and even climb on the ceiling... sadly we don't have tofu boy. a secret character for the steam version (Tim) is just the reward for getting 50 bandages in the switch version, I haven't memorised all of the switch characters so there probably are more changes I can't remember, I probably will get the game on steam eventually just so I can use all the characters

11:55 its created by Tom Fulp, a guy that created Newgrounds and created the Behemoth with Dan Paladin. Alien Hominid got console HD version, with it being ported on first November 2023 with the release of its sequel, Alien Hominid Invasion. Edmund Mcmillen (creator of Meat Boy and the Binding of Isaac) started there, so its nice to see Team Meat adding Alien Hominid and Castle Crasher to the game (also Castle Crasher is availaible on Newgrounds Meat Boy, and i've seen him on one guys vid of console version of SMB).
Tbh, I think a better question would’ve been “Can You Beat Super Meat Boy with Every Character?” and you basically just find how many levels are impossible with how many characters
A friend of mine attempted to do such a challenge (and even was uploading each level), but didn’t get around to finishing it. He found that Alien Hominid can do 199/200 levels, Ogmo can do 198/200 levels, The Kid can do 200/200 levels and Headcrab can do 183/200 levels. Although, if you abuse certain glitches, Ogmo and Headcrab can do all 200. Alien Hominid only can do the missing clear if abusing a version 1.0 exclusive glitch. He’d be shocked at the Flywrench slander in this video though! As Flywrench was his second favourite non-meatboy character.

The answer is yes; also I love how after uploading a couple Super Meat Boy vids of my speedrun (segmented runs) on to youtube, I got a video for this XD.
At the start of the video one of the rules put is "no exploits/glitches" yet I've seen multiple times where the game froze and then jumped ahead, which would indicate a use of alt glitching. Edit: Ironic I learned about the alt glitch from *you*

the reason why headcrab isnt as good as gish or gooball because headcrab is more horizontal jumps while gish is more of vertical jumps which makes him better than headcrab

In this run we learned three things one: you can beat super meat boy with randomized character, two: fly wrench can be good whenever times are truly needed and three: headcrab sucks
I feel like I should buy this game, it looks like a lot of fun!
