Lana Del Rey - Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind (Lyrics)
I was at Coachella, leanin' on your shoulder
Watchin' your husband swing in time
I guess I was in it, 'cause, baby, for a minute
It was Woodstock in my mind
In the next mornin', they put out the warnin'
Tensions were rising over country lines
I turned off the music, tried to sit and use it
All of the love that I saw that night
'Cause what about all these children
And what about all their parents?
And what about all their crowns they wear
In hair so long like mine?
And what about all their wishes wrapped up like garland roses
Round their little heads?
I said a prayer for a third time
I'd trade it all for a stairway to heaven (A stairway, stairway to heaven)
I'd take my time for the climb up to the top of it (A stairway)
I'd trade the fame and the fortune and the legend (A stairway)
I'd give it all away if you give me just one day to ask him one question
I'd give it all away if you give me just one day to ask him one question
I was at Coachella, leaning on your shoulder
Watching your husband swing and shine
I'd say he was hella cool to win them over
Critics can be so mean sometimes
He was on his knees and I thought he was breaking 'em down
With his words and his voice divine
Doesn't take a genius to know what you've got going
And to not wanna lose it 'cause they lost their minds
What about all these children and all their children's children?
And why am I even wondering that today?
Maybe my contribution could be as small as hoping
That words could turn to birds and birds would send my thoughts your way
I'd trade it all for a stairway to heaven (A stairway, stairway to heaven)
I'd take my time for the climb up to the top of it (A stairway)
I'd trade the fame and the fortune and the legend (A stairway)
I'd give it all away if you give me just one day to ask him one question
I'd give it all away if you give me just one day to ask him one question
A stairway, stairway to heaven
A stairway
Got a million things I wanna say
Like, what's it all for? Will it be okay?
Million things I wanna say
Like, what's it all for?
Stairway, stairway to heaven
Stairway
Stairway, stairway to heaven
Stairway

  • Lana wrote Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind to express her concern for being at Coachella while tensions with North Korea and the USA are rising. She sings about how she'd trade her life of fame to have peace in the world, and she worries about why she should even be worrying about the state of the world - because things like this shouldn't be happening. She views Coachella as her Woodstock because it is an escape from the shit happening, although she wishes she didn't need an escape. And she sings about her worry for what is going to become of the children today and perhaps her hope is enough to ripple something positive in the world - also this song is not on lust for life

    • Albertine Sarny because this song she wrote was particularly rushed and did it for her own fun I guess, she only made this song just a few weeks ago and produced it really quickly...maybe the beat would be better if she hadn't rushed it, but I still enjoy it( of course she made this especially for us)

    • Remember people this is not apart of her album, she created this song literally almost exactly a month today, she produced it very quickly, maybe if she was working on it longer different beats would be used, since people r mad about that? but i find it just fine, please respect Lana for what shes doing for us ;)

  • Idk how people think this isn't Lana. This is the most Lana del Rey song ever. Allusions to God, references to bands from the 70s and Woodstock from the 60s, and if you know anything about Lana's personality, rather than her BTD Lolita persona, you would know that this is the real her. Just because she isn't talking about older men or death doesn't mean she is becoming someone else, she's just being more true to herself. This song is for us, her fans. Be thankful. I know I am.

  • Literally, everything that this woman creates never fails to amaze me. She's such a poetic artist and that often goes unappreciated. I think people should stop complaining, appreciate the fact that, as an artist, she wont always be the same and is continually evolving. This evolution is what makes an artist.

    • Kayleigh Lana wrote the song during the Coachella days and when she was having fun she was also worried about the world and the conflicts between North Korea and America and she said this on her instagram: "'m not gonna lie- I had complex feelings about spending the weekend dancing whilst watching tensions w North Korea mount. I find It's a tightrope between being vigilantly observant of everything going on in the world and also having enough space and time to appreciate God's good earth the way it was intended to be appreciated. On my way home I found myself compelled to visit an old favorite place of mine at the rim of the world highway where I took a moment to sit down by the sequoia grove and write a little song. I just wanted to share this in hopes that one individual's hope and prayer for peace might contribute to the possibility of it in the long run. "

  • First of all, to those who truly understand Lana del Rey, they will understand that Lana is an artist, a constant machine of creativity and evolution. She's not hooked up on a previous recipe of success and duplicate it over and over again. She's interested first and foremost in the lyrical content, the message she is conveying, the uniqueness of the topic. I am grateful for the BTD record because it was the engine that helped her take off in music and gather her own people who believe in what message she has to offer through her music. It helped her shape her image more clearly than any of her previous attempts before. At the same time, you have to understand that Lana's genre in music - because it is often labeled as eccentric and bizarre - will often hit you with a negative surprise at first (especially lately) because - naturally - it is completely a new recipe, a new way of singing. But, if you listen to this song carefully, and you just follow the lyrics and be one with it, you'll notice how dreamy, euphoric and ensnaring the bridge "I'll give it all for a stairway to heaven" is. I honestly believe it is a mature song, a symbol of her coming of age, of using her fame now at this stage, to really make an impact in people. My advice is to listen to her new materials without cross referencing it with her previous materials. Cheers.

  • Not everyone is open-minded with music and has the ability to understand the artist and what they are going through, but Lana isn't just a girl who writes and sings melancholic and dark songs, she's much more than that, she has a perspective on this world like everyone else, she likes to switch up her vibes and do different patterns of music, she's not entitled to one genre, she likes to sing about what's on her mind, she likes to evolve and move on and not stick with singing about the same thing, and it saddens me how people are seeing this on a different ignorant level rather than listening to her message and what's she singing about, Lana is a true artist and will forever stay a true artist, whether you like it or not.

  • There was a note for me scribbled onto the top corner of an unused page of my notebook written by a senior girl i sat beside in my junior math class "Video Games by Lana Del Rey" There was a long car ride, the aftermath of a wild and wonderful, hot and suddenly dying night, with too loud headlights and too quiet air and the only sound capable of soaking up the remaining sticky buzz of a heavy and over-saturated mind was "Ride by Lana Del Rey" There was an over crowded field with a stage laid out to the masses and two tired legs attached to a brain that didn't care about the mud eroding my forget-me-not sneakers or the crowed pressing in on my every single side. i had a smile sprawling itself across my cheeks as wide and as long as the line to get shit-faced and what followed was one of the best nights of my life, the night I waited to hear anything by Lana Del Rey. And all the happy nights and hot days and crybaby fits and car rides and goodbyes and farewell friends and new loves and drunk dancing and late listenings and parties and heart to hearts and changes of them and hair cuts and dorm rooms and apartments and fights and screams and laughs and silence, I always turned to music, and I always played Lana. Thank you for decorating the background of the greatest moments of my life, I could never express the beautiful impact you've had on me.

  • Six years ago one month after this song came, I was sick and dying at the hospital, I spend months there and the only thing that helped me to sleep and calm my nerves everytime before going to a new surgery was this song ❤ I played this over and over again every night, now when I hear it I just think about how glad I am to stay alive and keep listening to her, since that time I leave this song just for special moments of my life ❤

    • complaining? whaaat?! I dig her new style. You can hear she's got some positive vibe around her, making her music so uplifting but not in a shallow way because this is Lana! She grows as an artist as well, with this new concept she's got an oppoturnity to write about different topics, actually resonating with our psyché but not like in a way that forces happiness into you. You naturally feel it if you pay attention. She's an excellent songwriter, very hard to find someone like her in the modern music industry. Actually, nobody's like her. That's why I love her and always loved even before this "new style". But this is, man, revolutionary! (I just don't get how can someone actually complain :D)
