  • Remember back in the day when every fighting game had to have that one girl? They were often the best and easiest players to play. I.E. Chun Li in Street Fighter, Orchid in Killer Instinct, Xiaoyu in Tekken, and even Princess Toadstool in Mario Bros 2. I never really played Sonya too much, but I think her leg grab was pretty effective.

  • Does anyone else miss the hyper-realism they used in the character rendering? I thinl they lost something when they used only animated characters.

    • hyper-realism here meaning they video taped actors in costume actually doing the moves, digitized frames of that video, and used them as 2D sprites? They're literally pictures of people.

    • @@llamaninja3393 But at least they weren’t as fast as the arcade or snes. Genesis version to give an estimate we’re like 300 to 500 milliseconds apart while the arcade and snes were less than 100 milliseconds.

  • Holy crap dude that second round against Shang Tsung once he morphs into Goro toward the end. Sonia got her butt straight wrecked! I just wish they would have had the technology to give Shang Tsung his own move set at the time. I don’t believe he could even fight as himself. I don’t recall it happening.

  • I always though it weird that you fight Shang Tsung in Goro's ugly underground lair in MK1. Feels like the match should be in his palace or something a bit more grander.

    • From a lore standpoint I'm guessing it was meant that Goro would be the final boss but when Shang Tsung sees his undefeated grand champion fall, he panics and immediately challenges the victor right away. Hence why it takes place in the Lair
