    • Don't make excuses for Fury. He didn't take it seriously and was arrogant enough to think he could school Francis like a Harlem Globtrotter schooling a highschool player. His arroragnce almost cost him the fight. Even being out of shape and having had a lay off... with the utmost respect tp Francs, he made a lot of the same fundamental mistakes in the Fury fight as he did in the AJ fight, but after 10 rounds of fighting, Fury failed to take advantage of those mistakes, and the few times he did manage to clip Francis, it had zero effect, because he just doesn't punch hard enough, allowing Francis to give him so many problems because he was unafraid of what was coming back at him. What happened Friday night was more to Fury's detriment than Francis. I hope Francis gets over this and has a storming return in the PFL.

  • Boxers punch harder than MMA guys because they focus on punching a lot more. Joshua overlooked Ruiz in that first match and you still need skill to land clean. Fury obviously overlooked Francis but styles make fights. MMA striking is also slowed down by the use of grappling and wrestling. Yes kicks, knees, and elbows hurt but you can only land so many at a time compared to punches. AJ is also still a big guy at 250 lbs. Boxing isn't some one dimensional sport. Several boxers like AJ, Ajagba, Bakole, Sanchez, Hrgovic, Dubois, Joyce, and Ruiz hit harder than Fury. Boxing fans have been telling you this but you refused to listen. We also know AJ can KO people with 12 oz gloves. We know boxers know how to slip and defend against punches better from experience. We know that Fury can be out of shape and doesn't train consistently. All that has to be factored in.

It's a SUPER compacted and dense surface. The lower weights box in 8oz - that extra 4oz goes on the much larger wrist padding and total covering of the fingers, etc. They aren't padded, unless a boxer has bad hands and opts for a more padded glove. All boxing gloves are is padded enough that your hand doesn't shatter when you hit someone as hard as it is physically possible to do. The protection for the person being hit is tiny.
