Is it just me or Yagami reminds you of your classic Kamen Riders because of what he wears? There are times where a henshin wouldn't even feel out of place and would totally match the character.
Okay, now I can't not see that.
I can see that. Now I want a Kamen Rider game from RGG studio, either them or platinum but either would work
@@KingOmega123 i think platinum would be better as kamen rider works well with over the top combat.
@@richardauthement3105 but Guy Ga Gotoku Studios did do Fist of the North Star...
wait, wait, you’ve got a point.
More people talking about Judgment? Hell yeah.
A thing that I would like to point out about Judgment is the supporting cast for Yagami: they really pushed the fact that Yagami can't do all of this alone; while he does end up fighting costantly like Kiryu, he does it with his friends (a lot of the long battles/boss battles you have at least 1 or 2 guys from the gang). While Kiryu mostly relied on his strenght with his supporters helping "from the back", Yagami's Group is a lot more active. I really loved this game, it's on par with 0 as my favourite RGG's title, and the detective-style combined with the classic Yakuza-style gameplay has high potential if made properly.
Plus they boys (Kaito, Higashi, Sugiura) aren’t weak at all, they can hold their own in a fight. More than once did any of those guys take out half the crowd while I focused the other half
And then Lost Judgment happened
Btw kiryu digievolved into Kenchiro so he went to the distant future.
I don't get it.
When did Kiryu hitting the table become a meme?
Not that long ago, but its a dead meme now

Judgement needs more attention, thank you for making this video! Greg Chun did such amazing work as Yagami! I really like the dub
Thats right Hero, one of many drama that put Takuya Kimura name on Japanese Spotlight. Finally a reviewer who done his homework!
This needs some attention, it has a good storyline and the graphics are amazing!
I just finished Yakuza 6 last night, before going to Judgment. This video is perfect for convincing me to get Judgment as soon as possible. Surprised about the English dub thou. The Japanese voice actors are so great and I guess that same word in Japanese with different tones means different things. I moved from a EU country to a SEA country 5 years ago. The hardest thing to learn the local language is that the same word has 5 different meanings depending on how your tone is.
that's why for yakuza series i prefer sub over dub, especially with this game. i have two reasons for that. 1. well a game based on a local city so I think hearing it from the local person will do much better since the pun, gags and tone for dub might not as deep as sub. even some of the sub translations still not as correct as it meant to be. 2. most of these actors are highly recognizable, specifically for yagami. No offence for Greg chun i know your voice is cool. but this is Kimura Takuya-san! i don't want to hear any other voices straight out of the Kimutaku-san's mouth(his nicknamed).
I am yet to play Judgement, but I do want to say, they should've left the original name (Judge Eyes) for it. "Judgement is such a generic word that it can be related to literally anything.
OF COURSE YOU CANT DATE SAORI AS MUCH AS WE WANT TO, THAT’S HOSHINO’S CHICK. Lets be real though Saori has him under her finger that poor boy is gonna get thrown through the ringer
Ok I know it's been a while since you uploaded this but this still has the best ad bait and switch gag I've ever seen. Back when I first watched the video I left a like as soon as it happened
I'm really happy I found your channel, your content is top tier!
awesome Video. i definitely agree on judgement having this identity problem a little bit. yeah it is true usually everything ends up having a fist fight. but i think the judgement needs to have a more robust detective mechanics to not immediately miss the fight stuff. but even whit the good investigation mechanisms this is still a beat them up, so there would need to be some good fight sub stories to happen. but i do get what you are saying because that gang that Yagami beat up (The ones who picked on merchant friend, the ones whit Renji Honda) they felt so tacked on. just beating and more beating, whiteout any story. i guess they tried to do majima everywhere type of thing but it was awful. just bullies without much story to them. two fighting styles where good, but yeah crane was bit underdeveloped. but i did not get bored. thou i still root for a third style down in the line. but yeah awesome video.
to be honest I'm finding joy in watching channels like yours, emplemon, super eyepatch wolf and captain midnight do videos on stuff like this
First I saw Foxcade, and I was pleased. Then I saw Judgement, and again, I was pleased. Then I heard Nujabes and it was at this moment I knew that all was right in this World.
you really dug yourself out of the little DMC groove way better than Gaming Brit Show lol its nice to listen to someone who at least sounds like he knows what hes on about and did a bit of research bless you cade you one of the good ones xx
@@mega20able not to badmouth someone on someone elses video but I literally couldnt even stomach watching the GBS videos anymore, it is just so ridiculously obvious to me when I listen to him that he is so stuck up himself and fancies himself some sort of be-all-end-all game critic that everyone is foaming at the mouth to hear his hot takes like "devil may cry has good combat"
Love the "Shiki No Uta" in the background
Hero had Kuryu Kohei, Yakuza had Kiryu Kazama. I played Judgment coz of Kimura and I could say, this is also a loose spinoff of that TV show too. For a Kimura fan like me, this game is an absolute treat! If you like Kimura in Judgment, I recommend you to watch Hero. Looking forward to Lost Judgment next month!
I haven't played Judgment sadly. But I'm happy, Foxcade is giving it some love and attention to the game.
Judgement vs Like A Dragon crossover game, with Kiriyu Kazama as a secret dating game boss.
Nice Video! :D Glad to see an RGG related video. I completely agree on your assessment of the Fighting Styles. Tiger got WAY too many gameplay changers compared to Crane and I must admit I'm happy it was a Ryu Ga Gotoku game rather than L.A. Noire or Phoenix Wright. I do wish they could have done a bit differently but overall I think Judgment/Judge Eyes is a legendary game. Hope Kiryu comes and saves you from your shill abductors.
Love this game. And this was a great video talking about it.
Just finished it yesterday for me it’s second to 0
My favorite game series, and one of my favorite game youtubers together. I've wanted this Since I asked that question back in the Q&A.
Love the first song in the background. Shiki No Uta was an amazing ending song for Samurai Champloo and that remix was no different. Where could I find the remix?
Does anyone else think RGG studios would be perfect for a Gintama game? While playing through yakuza 0,kiwami and judgment I was just thinking how similar this feels to gintama. Where a large part of the game/runtime is just about meeting the weird ass inhabitants of their respective cities and getting into dumb shenanigans while the primary plot is much more serious. The combat even feels like it would be perfect(the samurai games especially) for gintama.
This video is gonna be a great help for me before I play Lost Judgement
You should play Kenka Bancho badass rumble for the PSP, it's the only localized Kenka Bancho game afaik. I finished it recently and it's pretty decent for a PSP game.
I can't tell you how many times I've randomly heard the Samurai Champloo ed on random youtube videos
I had Yakuza Kiwami flashbacks at the 24-Hour Cinderella on screen. I can't tell you why.
It sounds like an amazing game.
Is Judgement doing well in Japan and also worldwide? Because i really want to play more of it.
Maybe we'll get Shin Yakuza next year
They're going to have a conference all about it in August.
MinRin Kim can you find anything mimicking the Yakuza formula similar to Dark Souls?
Well you already know the answer to that by now with the announcement of the sequel Lost Judgment.
@@acurisur Yes I do! xD
I see what you did at 4:38, very clever indeed.
15:00 Oh wow that's actually a really cool idea. I don't think it's that way in Lost Judgement
Let's fucking go, time to watch this
God I need to play this
For some reason, Judgement was the easiest RGG game for me. I dont think I saw the game over screen more than 3 times, and I didn't really find myself struggling to win a battle as I felt in Yakuza 7 and 0. Also, you can cancel enemy EX attacks by using your own EX movements (the special ones that you trigger with Triangle) so there isn't a real threat there. I mean, enemies take a few seconds to make that special attack, there's more than enough time for you to find a weapon and cancel their moves
How did you piledrive the boss at 14:14 , I never say that move in the game
Saori Appreciation Hour XD
Making a change on the protagonist being a criminal vs an attorney was a smart move
Yakuza 0 is still the best game in the series that got localized, change my MIND
^
I'm not going to fight you on that one
bro i love 0. mostly cause of the story and combat. and that's mostly cause i love the yakuza games in general.
I don’t know, as much as I love 0’s story, I think is plain and simple compared to Judgment's. I think is way more complex, mind blowing, darker even. and overall more interesting.
I like 5 more
I have another comparison for you, Sleeping Dogs with Ace Attorney.
I hate how painfully low the sensitivity is in the first person investigation mode
I really didn’t like how Tanimura got shafted in the series. Little Asia, of all places, burns down in 6 and nothing is heard from the man...And I’m assuming there’s no talk of him in judgement either. You’d think Date and Tanimura would have kept tabs with eachother this whole time.
Hiroki Narimiya who voiced Tanimura in the original yakuza 4 game has retired because of a drug scandal. That might be the reason why we never got to see him after that. Though, in the remastered version they changed his voice actor and model, chances are we'll see him in a future yakuza game. We got to see Kashiwagi in yakuza 7 who is well and alive despite what we saw in yakuza 3 so hopefully we'll see Tanimura and maybe Shinada too one day!
Honestly, the thing that sets Judgement apart from Yakuza more than anything else, is the fact that it has an English dub. Like what the hell is up with that?
First English dub in the series was terrible, so why waste the time and resources on the rest of the series? With Judgment, dubbing has improved over the years and they're using a different cast of characters, so it might be the perfect entry for new comers that don't want to read everything
Was pretty surprised by how good the dub is tbh. Imo the Eng VA's for Kaito/Hamura/Higashi/Hoshino/Shintani/Mafuyu/Morita/Ayabe/Shioya/Kuroiwa/Kido are waaaaay better than their JPN counterparts. The rest I would say are close to or equal with the JPN VA's with each having different strengths for different emotions. The only critiques I have is that any dialogue from characters who don't speak in cutscenes use their original JPN voice acting and sometimes you'll recognize one of the main Eng VA's voicing a one-off character in a main mission (Shintani's VA is especially guilty of this and I heard Saori's VA a few times too). Overall though I'll be disappointed if they don't dub the next Yakuza game because they knocked Judgment out of the park.
@@Etrius0023 Well uh it's over a year later, but what do you think of 7's dub?
@@Etrius0023 There are a couple of EN voices that I wouldn't necessarily say are better but that I'd prefer over the JP voiceover. Funnily enough, neither are included in your list. So, IMO, for the most part, your praise in how many characters are better and how much better they are is more than a little exagerrated. For one, I wouldn't say Kaito is better in EN than in JP because while Freeman did good there are still some awkward moments that you dont hear at all in the JP version. Shioya has a distinct Kyoto accent in the original and while I obviously don't expect the same for EN, he doesn't sound unique as a character as he does in JP because there aren't any unique characteristics in his speech. I'd say Ayabe and Hamura are equally as good in both versions, sounding almost the same and giving off the same vibes, and Shintani in both versions is as good as the other with each giving off sliiiiightly different vibes. But for everyone else you mentioned, the JP version is better and I mean that in an objective way because naturally, the lines roll off the actors', and by extension the characters', tongues more, well, naturally, As an aside, I think Yagami's voice in JP and EN are more or less equal, albeit each portrayal is very different, with Kimura's lower, gruffer and huskier tone lending a more rugged and jaded feel to the character and Chun's higher and younger voice giving Yagami a smoother and more playful feel. Both work so which you like more is a matter of personal preference.
@@vspirit So because my opinion is different from yours mine is "exagerrated?" Also you think your opinion is "objective[ly]" correct? lmao. Okay, buddy.
Heeey, that samurai champloo music tho
A few months ago I downloaded Lost Judgement. Hlafway thru, I accidentally stumbled into the Survive Bar and I was looking around at everything for a minute and was like, "wait a minute, am I playing a fucking Yakuza game!?" 😂

14:41 Jesus Christ, as if there isn't enough overkill in this game 😂
You can date Saori, but it's DLC
Hmmm, if they do a sequel I hope they keep that. I would have picked her only if that was an option.
Not really dates. There's no relationship. You just get to do the dressup and bring her around town.
This was one of the best games ive played in a long time . The fighting system is absolutely amazing. I would give this game a 9.5/10 just bc no one likes the drone or the tailing . And i recommend playing it in Japanese !
i still like this game despite its flaws
17:55 Cause they had it coming
I got too invested in the dating aspect of the game. 😆
I've never played Yakuza and thoroughly enjoyed the game
(before i watch this video here my snips of thought about the series). although the game has tons of fun, i can't differentiate between them. they all look play and mostly has the same content, i would take that from ace combat which is a game about flying planes. but this series hit such highs of stagnation it can't get loose itself from it's original IP, it can't evolve into something else can't change it's story notes or gameplay, it can only polish itself graphically, i feel like this is what happened to Sekiro.
I think you hit it with these rgg games, however i disagree with you about sekiro because that game is so fundamentally different than the soulsborne series.
@@onionheadguy7094 as much it tried to run away from it's staple, it could've change it so much more when it didn't.
@@DrRESHES maybe elden ring will do it for you
Quite frankly, I don't think it needs to detach from its staple quite yet. Judgment still feels different enough in terms of feel and how the protagonist handles himself to distinguish itself but the core gameplay that I know and love is still there. And this is coming from someone who has played all the games in some iteration.
great
And of course, Saori. Cute as heck, best Judgment girl. We need more rule 34 of her
All I gotta say is, komurocho isn’t the same without Kiryu
Yeah, there is definitely something missing there. I love how fleshed out Kamurocho feels in Judgment, but I kind of wished they would have placed the game in a new district for that reason.
@@Foxcade yea like another area in tokyo, but they always chose shinjuku (kabukicho the red light district) because that area is where the yakuza is based in real life.
I gotta disagree. Kamurocho is the star of the show here and while I love Kiryu, his story is but one of the many Kamurocho has left to tell. Although I would love to see more locales going forward.
Most yakuza games have different protagonists so it doesn't really bother me

@@duelmastershideout278 Oh I have. I read it until it finished releasing. Now I'm watching the authors current work Fire Force.
Worth a sub just for referencing Saat Po Lang (the Cantonese pronunciation, always worth saying "F You" to the CCP and boycotting Mandarin). If you haven't already, I'd highly suggest checking out Tiger Cage 1 & 2, the HK action classics that undoubtedly inspired the new wave of action crime thrillers. Tiger Cage 2 especially is really quite something, every bit as schizophrenic as you'd expect from a HK film of that era, it's glorious. EDIT Wait, I'm confused so the combat style is based on Bajiquan (8 Diagram Boxing) but the combat styles in game are referred to as Tiger & Crane (Fung Hok Sheung Ying aka Tiger and Crane Fist - a very grounded form of Southern Fist Kung Fu) FFS I wish Devs would get it right, this is Shenmue 3 levels of BS... Don't get me started on that game's one inch punch, which was clearly intended to plant the seed of "Bruce Lee's" One In Punch despite the fact the technique is derived from Shaolin, see the awesome film Men From The Monastery for further reference. The short version is the training starts out as 3 inch punch before reducing to 1 as you'd advance through your training. The purpose being that one is able to leverage their strength and power in the tightest of situations. The film does an admirable job of conveying that concept.
It seems like you're a fan of classic Hong Kong movies. To be honest both the Yakuza series and Judgment remind me more of Hong Kong flicks than Japanese Yakuza movies, especially on the action side of things!
please make a video on ace combat 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry, I wasn't listening. Did you say something about cats? Sold

You clearly do not know what a story spoiler is.
This game was frickin fantastic. Loved every minute of it. I might get hate for this, but Kiryu after Yakuza 3 got boring to me, I didn't really like him after that. I really wanted Akiyama or saejima to take over as protagonist, but they shove Kiryu in there all the time and it got seriously boring to me. This game was a breathe of fresh air to me. No brooding, overly serious, one note, stoic boring main character? Sign me up. Yagami was a blast to play as and follow.
Sadly, I didn't like the modernised character design of the protagonist. That's what didnt sold me on it
Uhh...how else is a P. I. who is otherwise a normal guy in a modern day seedier part of downtown Tokyo suppose to look like, mate? If you wanted a game based in a different era, then the problem does not lie in the design of the MC. Or is it really the leather jacket-skinny jeans-white tennis shoes ensemble you have a problem with? It's actually supposed to be pretty trendy by Japanese standards. But I'd get it if that wasn't your aesthetic. It'd sure make more sense than what you're saying.
