To a native Icelander like me, this advice seemed a bit over the top to me - until I realized that if I wanted to visit, say, the Mojave Desert in summer, I would be equally clueless about what to pack, how to prepare! In fact, this is very sound advice to people that are clueless about how hellish a "nice Icelandic summer day" can be!
I’m visiting Reykjavik and nearby places in April ! Do i have to be prepared for a really cold weather? I don’t know what to expect I’m Mediterranean and we basically have summer 10 months a year 😂we have 30 degrees and bikini weather in January and we only get few weeks of “winter”
@@esraamer9952, pack for the coldest and rainiest of your Mediterranean winter days. You can always shed clothing if you are weather-lucky, but you cannot put on the warm/waterproof clothing you left behind. This "Pack for Iceland" video is actually spot on for people like you.
Thank you for the feedback! We realized that it is always more comfortable to prepare as much as possible when visiting a new place.
Thanks-After watching many videos on Iceland packing yours is the perfect combination of the best suggestions. Thoughtful and thorough!
We are planning a July trip this year and been amazed at how many places are already booked out and how chilly it will be during the trip. Thank you for the suggestion of the buffs and rain pants. Will also pack an extra hat and set of gloves. Thank you for telling us to skip the flip flops. Would love to know where your cream loose top is from. Seems to be a perfect item for travel and going out at night.
Will revisit this when it's time for an Iceland trip! Great content!
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
In Iceland and truly enjoying my tripped compression cubes and backpack!!! Thank you for the packing tips. They were spot on.
So so glad to hear it!!
I brought flipflops as my "at home" shoe because I can't stand bare feet on the wooden floor. Leave your hiking shoes at the door and support your arches with some nice croc flips.
I can’t stand walking bare foot either. I don’t go anywhere without flip flops.
As someone who has lived here for a year I think that's a really solid advice you got in this video! Great content 😊
What a compliment!
So glad this showed up in my feed! It is also a perfect packing list for a trip to Alaska in July and August, except... that Alaska can also be rather warm, so it can go either way. So the jeans and lighter shirts would work well. Alaska is home and we have a trip coming up that is going to combine fencing/dirty work with weather and going places, some nicer than others. So the spectrum is the issue, and I really like your packing list, it is going to help a ton! great video, like the vibe and the humor! (& haha, yes, getting on the plane to Alaska, folks are often kitted out in hiking gear or hoodies and sweats, very low key, so that made me smile a bit!) Have a good one, Lynne
Oh yeah good points!! So similar!
Thank you wonderful insight and information… helps very much.
Just bought the XL compression cube set and day pack. Great video! Looking forward to Iceland!
Hey Jampa! Thanks for supporting the channel and if you ever need any help, you can always reach me over at hello@trippedtravelgear.com
Great video! Thank you so many helpful tips!
Great information. Thanks 🙏 ! Can’t wait to go now.
sooo informative! Thank you!
Great tips.... And great new channel. We have loved your Iceland series. ❤️ hi from down under 🇦🇺
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing this information.
This was such a great and informative video. I loved seeing how you built outfits and appreciate insight on what items you brought that just weren’t worth the space! Do you mind sharing what brand that fleece is? Also, I absolutely love your style!!
I too would like to know about the fleece!
Swedish citizen here: Having rain and wind 70 % around the year here in westcoast island were i live im used to this everytime i travel🤣 My latest trip was to Canada where i packed most outdoor pants, shorts, hikingboots, rain poncho etc and most of the time there was alright except for Toronto that had no winds but extrem rain and high humidity similiar like Seattle has in summer🌧, im planing to take a 10 days trip in Iceland next year so i will be very prepared 😃💜🧊
Thank you so much! We’re heading to Iceland soon, and I am packing now with your helpful tips!
Have a wonderful trip!
Your Travel Backpack was a life-saver during our Disney trip. I was so thankful I threw it in our luggage "just in case". Everyone in my family is getting one for Christmas this year! So handy and great quality.
That is awesome! We've seen some great gift-giving ideas where the backpack is the "gift bag" filled with on-theme goodies :)
Thank you for all of these tips! They are very useful. That is a gorgeous cable-knit sweater! May I ask where you got it from? Thanks again!
Heading out for a week in Iceland in early december to break up my trip between the UK and USA, and this has been super helpful!
I’ve a Sept Iceland trip coming up, & this has been SO HELPFUL in informing me what’s essential & what’s extra.
This is great to hear! Have a great trip!
Literally same. Going this September.
Going early September as well!
Lol see you all there in September!
Going early September as well lol
This is great. Thank you so much for the tips!! The only thing I am really unsure about is whether I bring a long down jacket or a short one! I have a black water proof North Face- very foldable and packable (does not take up much space) But I think I should take another warmer jacket. I am always cold! Should I bring a long down jacket? I am going end of Sept/ Early Oct.
Do you have any recommendation for waterproof leggings? I looked through your amazon store but didn't see any. Thank you for the helpful video!
What a great list!! I love all of your items you brought. Can I ask what your favorite hiking pants that you use or one that is a better option for Iceland? Thank you so much!!
We love Prana clothing for travel and hiking! Super lightweight and great quality.
So glad to hear you’ve been wearing your OwlzzZ sleep mask almost every night and found it to be a life saver! We were also shocked by the lack of blackout curtains when we traveled Iceland and agree a sleep eye mask is a must pack item.
These were a MUST! Great product guys.
@@TrippedTravelGear Thanks! We hope it helps you sleep through other travel challenges, too… lights on outside your hotel window, planes, trains, campervans, camping, jet lag, etc. We take ours on every trip!
Just purchased your compression packing cubes and small backpack ❤️ So ready for this trip!
Just a follow up...compression cubes - Perfect! And that backpack. It has now become my defacto purse...I even use it when I go on local trail hikes. SO sturdy and so lightweight. Love it
@@duanneaschton7842 Glad you like it! My backpack is my every day gym bag and then goes on trips with us. If you ever have any problems with any gear, please reach out to me at hello@trippedtravelgear.com
very helpful, thank you
Loved these so much!! We are heading there in a few months. I just purchased your toiletry bag, can't wait to use it. I love the other packing cubes and backpack i have from you guys. Question.... Can I ask what brand name of hiking boots you both have? We are both in need of new ones and these look great!! Thanks
We love our Lems shoes as they have great lightweight WATERPROOF options!
Excellent! 👏👏👏
Hi I'm headed for Iceland this September, I bought your Tripped backpack and toiletries hanging pack. I want to visit the Artic Circle. What area did you booked your hotel prior to taking the Ferry? Thanks!! Awesome video, thanks for sharing!!
Going this next week!!🎉
Thank you so much for sharing!! We'll be heading to Iceland in September and this helps so much!
Have fun!
Me too :)
very useful ! going in feb.. thanks !
Love this and your Greece packing video. Hope you guys make some more videos.
Also bright outer clothing is good as a safety feature in case you get lost or injured. You stand out for search parties in red or yellow against the darker background.
Great safety tip!
hi! this is so helpful! what brand is the yellow jacket?
I have watched this video so many times and I have purchased your packing cubes. Thank you! How did you carry your hiking boots?
We recommend wearing your hiking boots on your flights and for travel days because they're typically one of our heavier items. Then there's no need to worry about packing them! Hope you're enjoying the cubes!
Magnífic..! 👌
Love the shoes! What hiking shoes do you recommend?
This is very helpful! You didn’t mention if the backpack was waterproof which is very important too.
Thank you! The daypacks are not waterproof but are water resistant.
I wondered about a Waterproof backpack cover and/or rain poncho to cover pack and me too! Overkill?
I've been trying to talk my husband into making a trip to Iceland, can't wait to use my cubes for our next trip. BTW, where did you find that great Cable knit sweater?
This is from Abercrombie, but there are wonderful local ones here in Iceland!
Icelandair has very small dimensions for personal item and carryon bag. Those backpacks are too wide. I paid for a checked bag as well due to that. My hiking boots I doubt I’d want to wear everywhere day and night. I need to bring another pair of shoes other than those small sneakers. I think I have to pack the daypack in my carry on to use there. It’s thicker than 5.6 inches thick/ deep I’m sure. The carry on size is 7.8 deep now.
Please recommend brand for waterproof gloves. Going to Iceland in June! Thx for the video.
Fin where did you get your orange coat?! I can’t find any bright colors online and yours is so cute!!
Hi Fin, we are planning our trip to Iceland and your video is very helpful, thank you. Quick question, what is the brand of your crushable wool wide brim hat? Merci
Have a great trip! Haha, ok this hat was my brother's Indiana Jones halloween costume from 15 years ago lol.... but I've seen good real wool options at Nordstrom!
thanks! nice info; what are your favorite ladies travel undies?
Thanks for the advice!! Love your yellow parka, where is it from??
It's from Burton, so warm!
Do you have the link to the warm fleece layer?? It looks so warm
Hello great advice and content, we are planning a trip in early September, what kind of Osprey bag are you showing in this video? TIA Thank you for the con
Hi Paulina! We use the 30L Porter Osprey backpack.
Please share your boot brand. Great video, thank you!
Thanks for the suggestions! What rain pants did you take?
Coming from Miami, we would have been screwed, THANKS A MILLION
Loves this trip. I cant wait to visit Iceland. Were did you put your coat and hiking boot? I am guessing you wear your coat but, I am not sure about the boots.
These Lems boots are really light weight and even bendable! -- If you're trying to be carry-on only then I recommend wearing your largest items on the plane :)
Love your jacket! Can you share the brand and style? I am planning an Iceland trip in mid October and am wondering if I need to get a parka or will a down jacket do?? Thanks and love your video too!
Its by Burton but I can't figure out what its called! I'm not really sure about Oct weather there but if I were just rocking a down jacket, I think I'd make sure I have a waterproof layer like a rain jacket over it to cut out getting wet/wind. Thanks for the kind words on the video :)
Do you know that Patagonia is giving all of their profits to Earth-related causes and are not taking any money for themselves now?!?!? I bought the Patagonia Torrentshell rain jacket and it is great.
Is there a link available the computer gear pouch? I didn't see it in the notes.
How many pair of socks did you bring in that backpack and how many days you stayed?
Do you have a link for the eye mask you have?
What brand are the brown boots you brought??
How is calling the brand of your carry on luggage? 🥰
I’m not seeing quick dry towels mentioned, but for all of the hot springs this seems like a must, do you have any recommendations?
Get a Teema towel. It can be used as a hot spring towel, a blanket on the plane and a wrap for going out.
Flipflops are good when river crossing :)
I like wearing the flip-flops getting in and out of hot springs.
I’m visiting Iceland next week! Any advice for 4day packing and weather at this time?
Layers are going to be key! Being able to add and remove layers as the weather changes throughout the day will make you much more comfortable. Have a great trip!
Please tell me the name brand of your carryon/grey back pack? Love the compression cubes idea and will get them, but I need that same back pack to pack them in. Thanks
Lynn, we love our Osprey Porter 46L. We've had two that have come on almost every adventure for 7 years!
Ok, I'm not a female, but for half of my week in Iceland back in June, I wore shorts, in the evening with a light fleece jacket. I would have worn shorts more, but only brought one pair. I brought a raincoat, and never took it out of my suitcase. The most waterproof things on your feet - are your feet. I hiked and did a lot of the tourist sites barefoot, beaches, hiking, and crossing streams and small rivers. Honestly, in the summer, it really isn't very cold.
LAVA! Ouch!
Great advice! Thank you!! Would a pair of ski pants work instead of rain pants? Or would that look out of place? I hate being cold lol
Not a bad idea! Especially the snow pants that are really just outer liners anyways. 100% would recommend just to have. You don't want to waste a whole day of sightseeing just because of weather and bad gear.
Where did you buy the eye mask?
Hey I'm trying to order the wash bag set in the UK, but Amazon says it doesn't deliver, can you help? Love you guys content! ❤️❤️❤️
Hey Charlie, so sorry to say unfortunately we don't sell in the UK anymore but considering expanding again next year. All the best and thanks for the support!
Can u plz link the Airbnb?
What brand are the boots you have
How do you carry both backpacks?
I have that Abercrombie jacket too lol!
I just love how the womens version is about 4 times longer than the mens version of the iceland packing video haha
Do you recommend many dressy clothes for night for dinner drinks ? Or is it very casual
Hey Lianne! There are some really high end spots to eat in Reykjavík that would certainly warrant that, but we didn't visit any place like that. We hit more fish and chips level spots that were super casual.
Help me please, what make is your parka and wind breaker…
Where is the fleece from?
What base layer shirt did you get? There are so many types of smartwool/icebreaker ones.
You can find all of our favorite clothing items here! amzn.to/3K5MqHA
Where is the wool hat from??
Hi can you share the brand of your hiking and rain pants please?
I love Prana brand hiking clothes!
I want the link for that black backpack. It looks so nice for my carry-on.
This is the Osprey Porter 46L. We love it and have used it for 7 years!!
My GF and I are planning on going to Iceland this summer. Which type of fleece lined leggings do you recommend for her?
Get some Craghopper fleece lined walking trousers. Much more practical than leggings :)
What brand hiking boots do you have in this video Fin?? @trippedtravelgear
Lems!
You do NOT need wool or down jackets! Down alternatives are much nicer, just as warm, and do not smell (and no animals die).
Also great options!
Nice
where did you get those leather boots? so cute. are they zero drop?
We love our Lems boots!
Is your carry on overnight?
Can we talk about what hair crimper you have in case we’re feeling a little extra? Your hair looks great!
Sleeping in braids is the ultimate crimped hair hack! No packing tools required (:
Where did you get the rain jacket and rain pants? I’m going in March. Do you suggest long underwear?
I was in Iceland during August last year. As a Swiss, I‘m used to cold days, but I still brought long underwear (merino) with me. And I really needed them on rainy days. Layering is the key. I also had a down vest and a thin down jacket I could wear underneath my rain jacket or soft shell jacket. We were lucky to have 10 days without any rain.
Yes absolutely! Merino layers are a great idea and anything Gortex will keep you dry!
Was gonna back my plastic birkenstocks for the Sky Lagoon but after watching this I think I'll leave them & save the space in my luggage.
What laundry facilities do you find in Iceland?
What rain pants did you buy? I wonder if I took my ski pants, would that work🤔Or be too much.
Honestly not a bad idea! Rain pants over your clothes almost look the same anyways 🤣
@@TrippedTravelGear on second thought, ski pants would not be needed at all in June, just thin rain pants were enough😍😍😍3 weeks road trip through Iceland was soooooooo awesome. 4 000 km and priceless memories😍🥰😍
We just returned from a first week of June trip. Forget the leggings please. You can get away with water repellent hiking pants such the ones from Eddie Bauer. You can wear them several days in a row as you won’t be able to do laundry. If you go for a 6 days, three pairs should suffice. They pack small as well. Bring 4-5 non cotton, antimicrobial base layers and a two Patagonia or similar zip up thermal tops. Lightweight packable jacket (Columbia has the perfect one) Shoes: low and mid hikers and you’re good to go. Bring enough undies to have one for each day, hats and fleece gloves. Done.
Hi ! What Columbia jacket would be best ?
@@aminarehman517 I have the powder lite w/o hood but there are others you might like
Thank you for this! I’m going at the end of this month and this is helpful!
@@kesiahruiz2894 You’re welcome! Also, switch to comfy sports bras if you can, you can pick them up cheap at TJ Max. They are a lot better when you’re mocking about in the wild! Have fun! It’s a magical place!
where do I get your boots? 😢
Does the osprey 46l count as a carry on with iceland air the dimension look like it'd be too big.
It does fit the carry on requirements!
Iceland air only allows dimensions 21.6 × 15.7 × 7.8 can yoi cinch these to make them smaller. This is the 46l correct.
Most of Iceland don't heat with power Usually Icelanders have running hot water from geothermal vents
Hey guys you probably know this but Craig called you guys out and your packing cubes on Kinging It this weekend!
Woohoo! Glad the toiletry set came in handy for them during their Europe crossing!
What are your hiking boots please
Lems!
Hello! Love the carry on…but I’m just wondering if you’re carry on and personal item are about the same thing…(size wise) In my experience they’ll say, those are 2 carry ons.
Maybe these look similar on camera but these are quite different sizes in real life.
@@TrippedTravelGear what make is the grey carryon your packing the cubes in?
@@LisaHarrowRealEstate I would love to know too!
@@LisaHarrowRealEstate Osprey 46L backpack is the name!
