But no; it's as if he recorded his lines for this movie years early on in production, simultaneously doing so with Luca and My Father's Dragon, which is why it's so similar.

    • It goes well beyond that simple interpretation. Light is an entity enslaved to balance and ultimately encapsulates everything in it which is just too much. The Dark is where there is quiet, the brilliance of light, poetry. It's like sadness from Inside Out - it's how you feel heartbreak with true depth of feeling that makes you alive. And it's touching that, in the end, Dark has to emerge from the memories of Orion who very much made it a point to remember it.

I'm 44 and when I was young there was still a stigma to having mental health issues, I had family members who weren't always understanding of what I was going through so it makes me happy that children coming up now will have it easier as far as people being understanding, supportive and encouraging.

  • Just remember ... this is Directed by CHARLIE KAUFMAN. His films include Synecdoche, New York and I'm Thinking of Ending Things. His characters are often depressed, suicidal, and existentially confused. Chances are Orion in this film is also dealing with existential fear and depression which is both metaphorically embodied by (or treated by) the Dark. Something tells me it will be an intellectually satisfying existential thinkpiece for Kids similar to films like Coco and Inside Out but even more mature and honest. Charlie Kaufman doesn't write trash nor does he sell out. His films are the highest cinematic art.

If they treat it more like the Pixar short night/day that would be better. They both have their pros and cons. I see why Darkness would feel inferior that makes sense for his character arc & would mirror well with the kid, Orion. • Just watched it and Im lost for words.....beautifully written, excellent concept, astonishing visuals, complex and heartwarming, if this is where animation is going in the future then our kids truly have hope, Im 42 and grew up with the likes of Tom & Jerry, Flintstones, Lady & The Tramp, The Looney Tunes, Oliver And Company, Meet The Robinsons, Bullwinke & Rocky, and just about everything in between, and this experience was like the Dark bringing in a new Light of remembering how creative and spontaneous, loving and touching, friendly and accepting, kids and adults can be'. I love this film and highly recommend it. '⭐⭐⭐⭐'

  • Nika: That movie is so good my favourite that animated one. Include for a character: Rick Sanchez, Morty Smith, Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, Mordecai and Rigby. All that is your favourite characters in the show. But upcoming movie on Netflix in 2 Feburary. It's going to famous done!
