TIP FOR PLAYERS!! if you build it in the air or over an ocean you get higher drop rates as the mob cap isnt taken up by other mobs. if you build it on land, light up as many caves and the area around you as muhc as possible so only creepers spawn

I use this design all the time.. add redstone lighting to make it an on/off farm and a hot air balloon is great for an afk spot!!

Just built this in 1.20.6 Java, and it works pretty well! I built this 6 layers high, and at first, I was only getting about 2 stacks an hour. I felt like something was wrong so i looked into my farm and it turned out a couple of the levels in the farm had torches from when i was building it, definitely was stunting the spawns! lol. after I got rid of them though, those 6 layers (12 cats) gave me about 14 stacks in its first hour. I wont say its gunna output 100,000 items an hour or anything, but for my learner single player world, I'm pretty happy with it! Simple, easy to build, and it works. Thanks
if you build 6 layers do you still go up 128 blocks or do you need more
@ColonelSanders-kk1up you do not need to go more. The very first level is more or less at the bottom of the spawning sphere around the player so you stay at the level specified in the video. All bonus layers are within that sphere

@ColonelSanders-kk1up no worries! Idk if you saw my other comment as well but the trap doors count as spawnable blocks, so to prevent spiders you'll want to add 1 carpet to each side of each level, just right next to the middle trapdoor. Glad to help, Colonel. I love your famous bowls.

you could just use ladders instead of scaffolding for the people that cant find bamboo
2:44 I will replace 2 bottom glass blocks with slabs so that i can hit the creepers manually as well which gives me xp😊

I've had a problem where sometimes spiders would still spawn... I'm guessing they do right between the carpets and the drop chute, as there is a 3*3 place with no carpets. I've simply placed an extra carpet near the drop chute on either side, otherwise great farm !
I built 7 layers of this farm on land and it works PERFECTLY

Do you need to have both sides of the trap doors open thats in the middle for the hole? I have one side closed like he did in the beginning but following all the steos I cant seem to get any creepers going down the water. I am in Java MC. Not sure what the deal is

Not me spending 3 hours crafting everything, build everything and in the end... spawn spiders inside. Its 5 AM i dont know what I am doing... nevermind, i'm going to sleep. I'm on Java 1.20.6 After read almost 200 comments, found people saying that doesn't work on 1.20.5 and 1.20.4. Waste of time.

An update to my previous comment, the farm does still work however I noticed there was a few spiders spawning on various levels. Moved a couple cats, it wasnt a big issue. But in case anyones wondering why they might be getting spiders, The open trapdoors DO COUNT as solid blocks for the spiders to spawn on. That makes the 2 blocks to either side of the chute, and the chute itself, areas for the spiders to spawn. I just placed an additional carpet next to the middle trapdoor on both sides of each level. Been afk for a while and she seems to be working just fine now! Final edit: This fix also bumped up my yield per hour, not by much but by a good few stacks. I'd say im at about 20 stacks an hour now while afk.
How far away are you when you are AFK? Did you follow the Scaffolding method?
@@JustXTE sure did! i made the pillar on the back of the farm so i had to extend the platform a little bit to be in the middle of the farm. But yeah, go up 120 for your afk and it should work like a charm
How many layers would you recommend?
@thelastoutlaw7204 uhhh well, I would say it depends on your needs and how much afk you're willing to do. I don't need a whole bunch at any given time myself, and I'm okay just afking for a few hours or overnight, so don't see myself making more than my 6 layers I have now. I feel like 1 layer is probably gunna be really slow regardless how much you afk, so I'd say... eh, maybe at least 3 or 4? Again kinda hard to say without knowing your specific needs, I mean if you want a half a million gunpowder per hour this isn't the farm for that. But for general needs I'd say 3-6 works well. Maybe run an hourly test and see how much you're getting, and if you want a bit more, just add a layer.
The only thing i will add is couldnt you face one of the hoppers into the other and only use one collection chest? Im not great with contraptions in minecraft, better at it irl 😂 great build i like the old school windows pc "your waiting..." hour glass look. Ima try this one though i usually dont mess with hostile mob farms i break them easy...

@@GamemodeCreative-cg7li that's understandable more space to let it run and fill. I just can't sit too long I usually try to convert any farm to a drop kill so I can feel like I'm doing something and if I can't then I still check it too often to let two whole chests fill.

I have tried everything and followed every step but creepers dont seem to be spawning

Only problem I have is light somehow still gets in, bedrock edition. Not sure the best fix
just put normal blocks ontop instead of slabs

Hello mate just wanted to clarify any mob farm will work above or below ground. You just need to make sure a 120 block perimeter up,down ext is fully lit up so no mobs spawn there. Hope this helped

Tip: Please only mention the NEEDED materials in the list that will make the farm work. (example: ladders, up to people how they want to enter/leave the farm). And for construction blocks such as polished andesite, or stripped spruce log, mention that people can use a block of their choice.

Is it necessary for being afk on top?, like mobs would spawn in a 128 block radius so what if i am working on some other project(on land) which is inside the 128 block radius, will the farm still work?
Mobs can spawn in caves below you..... if ur over 128 blocks from a cave, they wont. this is an afk farm.
Works in Java 1.20.4 pretty well. I build 2 floor like in video and in 10 min 2&1/2 stake gunpowder was there

Creepers aren’t falling down into the water in my farm. Idk what to do to fix it as I’ve built it exactly how shown on here. Also spiders seem to be able to spawn when I have defo done the carpets right so I’m hella confused

As you add more layers do you need to go up more on afk platform? Ive lit up caves and have about 7 to 7 layers done right and its rates are meh.
make sure u dont have any torches inside the layers

You can’t when being killed with non player objects
As long as you are there hitting the creepers at least once, yes you get xp
Instead of scaffolding you can use water elevator with soul sand. It's much faster

Being that high up is the highest elevation you can go while leaving the least area around the farm for other mobs to spawn. If you stay on the ground you will get a horrible rate and it wont be worth your time.
Im planning on a mega firework factory, so Im gonna just make like 10 layers, no biggie.

Not really as you can throw the cats in a boat attach a leaf and climb up scaffolding to it legit what I just spent the last 3-4 hours doing 😂
@@jeremyboerchers6815 Or you can make your way up be a water stream, leave the cats down, "swim" up, and once you step on normal blocks the cats teleport to you

You can make a witch spawner from the witch hut and get other drops in addition to gunpowder.

Yes,it actually helps your farm to better as the other mobs won't take the mob cap it is recommended to light up the area caves and other stuffs so only creeper spawns
