Even now my friends go "lets complete the x easter egg", like, it's so much more then that. The amount of thought that the developers put into making this storyline was insane and the fact it took so long to tell. All of us here are bound to these characters as much as they were bound to each other.

    • Because they started as easter eggs in WaW. Treyarch didn't start making a background story for Zombies until Der Riese, and didn't have a main easter egg until Ascension. The easter eggs were also pretty secretive early on, with most players not even realizing a complicated story connected the maps in Black Ops. Even though they evolved far beyond easter eggs, the community that has been solving them over the years is accustomed to calling them easter eggs because of their origins.
