If the cod developers ever want to create a blockbuster game again, they should tell this story in a full length campaign, it would be phenomenal. Such a great analysis, great work!
That would be awesome. I never understood the maps until watching this.
@@brian7194Then what did you think was going on? I’m genuinely curious, I like hearing people own interpretations of events because often the story people come up with, is more spooky than the original. So if you did come up with your own interpretation, I like to hear it?

The greatest story ever made was the zombies story what the devs were able to do and tell through a game is absolutely incredible as sad as it is it had to come to an end, with every great story there’s a great ending and this is it

My theory is that Richthofen didn't really die in that chair, he switched bodies with Eddie. That's why he says we won't remember. Because we never got to know him. There's even a German version of that Easter egg cutscene and it mentions dimension 2210 where Richthofen went to retrieve Eddie and bring him to the house. Rictofen was a pretty smart dude.
@@GooGz would also explain why richthofen in the new zombies games is the hidden big bad in the last cutscene
@Ashley Kneebone can you tell me which game? I can't remember. (Specifically the game and its map, so that I can look it up)

The amount of hours this man probably put into this project is remarkable, thank you
yeah I was reading a lot of the wiki and then just decided to look if someone made a video on the entire timeline
At least 7 hrs
Gotta be at least doubt that mate. The amount of time put into editing, research, pulling almost every(if not all) audio file and conversation between characters, etc. has to be longer than the video actually is.
1:05:14 can we sit and appreciate how great of an audio log this was?
What a story! Thanks for putting this together. I listened to it most of the day today turning wrenches at work. I knew a bit about the story but this showed me i missed so much. Fook. At the end too. I'm not crying, you are!
you’re telling me Richtofen literally says “pictures or it didn’t happen”??? I’m dead dead dead also, I grew up playing zombies and following the storyline. these games and these characters are near and dear to my heart. would do anything to go back to the era and experience it all first hand again ❤️ here’s to you, Aether storyline 🤝
Same back with the z house
Did you listen the radios
I'm really hoping for a good cinematic universe
Hell yeah 😂😂😂
What? When?

My man you’re the goat for making this video. I’ve already seen it twice and I can’t wait to come back to it in a couple years. Thank you!!!
The story of Buried alone would make an amazing movie or miniseries.
i loved the buried story

Yeah I just watched the whole thing today. Great work on this one, really enjoyed it. The story line is just incredible. If there was ever a movie series based on this I would definitely watch all of it.
Thank you for being the one who made this video I loved your DMC timeline ❤
It's nice that Nikola finally learned that Ritchofen was trying to save them the whole time.
Who else had no intention to watch all 6 hours but ended up getting hooked and doing it anyways 😂
Me. Background noise but also kinda interesting
It is 5am for me right now so yes
5 hours in
Facts lol
I had full intention to watch it all but I wanted to watch it in parts. Now I'm 4 and a half hours in and I'm not stopping now.
This is one of the best videos i have ever seen on youtube. Thank you.
Still immensely disappointed there was never a Great War map, would’ve been so cool to play as Primis in a giant war using the staffs

with apothicons flying around
It would’ve just been another origins remake

Dude so true
Every time I try to find zombies lore breakdowns, they always seem unclear or boringly described. This one however Is amazing and exactly explains everything clearly and the pacing and emphasis makes it easy to follow. Thank you so much for this video. Excellent work.
Yeah this guy is awesome
Drbi
Most other breakdowns will just read word for word from the timeline they released for zombies chronicles, this video does a much better job
@@7Luck7 I agree
So u watched the entire 6 hours in one sitting?
Im commenting to bump this, as this is by far the least confusing telling of the tale of cod zombies. May that multiverse forever be remembered.
I'm like 33 mins in to this and in gonna watch it all, this so so underated thank you for the time and effort put in
The ending truly did break my heart, seeing what nikolai did not for the world but for his friends as he didn't want them to go through those pains again, it broke me. But it made sense, he chose the lesser of two evils and chose to end it all, he gave a new world a new hope but had to sacrafice what's closest to him to do so. That truly is heart breaking
Agreed...man, and to think we've been following these characters from the very beginning, growing our never-ending love for them and then for it all to end like that...now THAT'S an epic tale
Ehh still feels like a lazy cop out. Underwhelming though because of the love for these characters it still hits in the feels a little
@@blyatmanmike1816 so glad i had the privilege to grow up with these characters. watching the story go on as i do.
It pisses me off so much that the dark aether story exists. They took all that pain and sacrifice and said fuck it we need another game to milk. Sure 115, the apothicons, the aether, etc are gone, but now we just have aetherium, and elder gods, and the dark aether. Sam and Eddie don’t even get to live good lives. It’s horrible.
@@peanutbutter6720 I don't really see what the problem is, their stories are done and if you despise the new story so much just pretend doesn't exist if it makes you that upset.
I'm a little under two hours in,, and I gotta say, the way the storyline was put together for this video is great. I've tried watching a number of videos to catch up on the lore, but they're always so convoluted and confusing. This video, however, has so far been very easy to follow. Great work
The radios make parts really elongated, but they provide SO much more than “this happened” does.
@@Richerodt exactly!!!
Give it four more hours xD

This is a video I return to time to time, even though I didn’t play most of the maps I’m glad that I can witness the story. Thanks for this amazing video.
The fact that you put movie footage of the actors from Mob but in their actual movies is genius! This is like a visual audio story and im soo hooked. Been a fan of The Aether storyline. I'll probably listen to this multiple times. Even my gf is interested. You did so good!!!!!
I came back to watch this video again and I realised, Nickolai never needed to die in the end he could've gone with the children because he still had a soul and wasn't on the path that created the loop, I believe he didn't want to go on because of what he'd just done and preferred to die with his friends.
I think maybe that because the four characters were bound together across all time lines because of the elemental shard made it necessary. Not sure tho
@@theninjachicken8625 it certainly would make sense
Samantha and Eddie were both pure souls thanks to Dr. Monty. Nikolai was not. He still had 115 corruption in him due to exposure and teleportation
He was bounded to the shard so i still think he had to die
No he still had to die.
Ahhh yes, one of the most convoluted stories in videos games. Up there with the souls series. That simply started out as a zombie survival side mode in WAW
what about FNAF? that should be up there too.
@@wolfyeyepatch1971 Nah, to easy to understand. Souls - in other hand, you need understand strange rhymes and etc. Also - the most convoluted story after COD Zombies Storyline - is actually a "Kingdom Hearts" storyline.
@@user-ss6co6vj5f the kindom hearts i agree with
Also Mortal Kombat, not AS convoluted but still pretty convoluted
You guys are also forgetting the Zelda series. It has multiple timelines and in the end, all of them are combined into one with Breath of the Wild.
Excellent job! Best video I've watched on the zombies story in a looong time. Well done!
Amazing story telling, enunciating words properly, chronological order. Great job
This story is insane, and so heartbreaking as well. It's weird to me that by the end we considered the story "easter eggs". Even now my friends go "lets complete the x easter egg", like, it's so much more then that. The amount of thought that the developers put into making this storyline was insane and the fact it took so long to tell. All of us here are bound to these characters as much as they were bound to each other.
What hurts even more is that we wanted to see him achieve this better tomorrow. We wanted to be there with them as they achieved it. And to hear that that better tomorrow was never coming. I don't even know how to describe what that felt like. Their goals were our goals. Everything they fought for we fought for it with them. In the sea, all that hard work mean nothing in the end. It's truly shattering.
Idk I’ve heard a lot of people refer to them as quests so you could also look at them as the “story mode” but my main problem with them is how random many of the steps can feel something like the simon says step for moon or placing each of the staves in the giants on origins
@@cancerouscorndog6425i think thats just for the sake of gameplay. It does feel random but just cause it makes the gameplay better.
Because they started as easter eggs in WaW. Treyarch didn't start making a background story for Zombies until Der Riese, and didn't have a main easter egg until Ascension. The easter eggs were also pretty secretive early on, with most players not even realizing a complicated story connected the maps in Black Ops. Even though they evolved far beyond easter eggs, the community that has been solving them over the years is accustomed to calling them easter eggs because of their origins.
Am I the only one who feels bad for doctor Schuster every time he starts his research somebody goes insane and ruins everything
Man just wanted to make stable and safe teleportation.
Edward's Walnut Transportation Would've Been The Best Ending.

I love how Nolan North not only voices Richtofen but also a bunch of other characters in this story. Such a talented voice actor but once you know his voice, you can easily tell its him manipulating it.
I literally pointed it out multiple times too lol. He is probably my favorite voice actor. Nathan Drake and Dr Edward Rictofen
If he is voicing the characters is he also making up lore?
He is my literal favorite VA and I’m always happy to hear him.
@@spiderpig7241 Nooo... the voice actors don't make the lore.
