  • My mom always made these growing up in Missouri. But she made the meatballs as regular meatloaf recipe and rolled into balls and bake in oven on a pan instead of one big loaf. We use grape jelly and chili sauce. Tip: It's easier to heat and mix the jelly and sauce in a pan by itself and then pour over meatballs. Because if the meatballs are tender they will break apart when trying to mix in a crockpot. The absolute BEST way to eat them is to scooped them up with Nacho Cheese Doritos!!! Seriously try it next time!

  • dear kaytlin, we use a good lot of or hunted roe deers, fallow deers and wild boars for minced meat, I find pure deer minced meat always too dry, so my tip, either mix it with some fatty minced beef, or just knead some butterflakes into the deer meat, especially when u want to make burgers for bbq, love your content and best wishes form the Danish Border 🙃

  • Speaking of simple...I've never shared this old secret but since I'm getting old and you seem like the kinda person who would really put this to use, here it is: Take a glass and put 2 heaping tablespoons of apple butter, 3-6 dashes of hot sauce and fill double what you have with coca cola and stir thoroughly. Have deer tenderloin sliced less than 1/2 thick and have grill hot. Place tenderloin on grill and baste with haste. Let cook 3 to 5 minutes per taste, flip and repeat. Enjoy Apple butter venison. I always muscle out my hind quarters while the deer is hanging there's 3 muscles on each leg. Just find the separation and make your cuts then kinda filet off the bone. You will be able to remove veins, arteries and limp nodes. Also once you have individual muscles you can treat each one like a tenderloin. You may have to tenderize an older deer but you will be pleasantly surprised with the ease of working with them vs a hind quarter. I do the apple butter on the younger doe's leg muscles that I harvest and they melt in your mouth. Hope this suits you. Feel free to add it to your repretra. Enjoy kiddo. Safe hunting to you.
