Mimic Logic Part 4 - up to four mimics are on the board, and it's up to logic to figure out which chests they are. This game has harder difficulties, and I'm a huge fan of the challenge.

Tyler just straight up ignoring the whetstone in his inventory is crazy
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="620">10:20</a> You can see that the bottom left box must be a mimic, because the middle right box says "1 Mimic is hiding in a red box." if this is true, then the only red box that's left to be a mimic is the bottom left box, and if this is false, then there must be 2 red mimics because one red box is a mimic already, therefore the bottom left box must also be a mimic, so in either scenario the bottom left box is a mimic. From here you know that the top left box is not a mimic and the centre box is a mimic, middle left box says "The top row has at least 1 mimic." which means top right box must be a mimic, which then means middle right box must not be a mimic.
I love how all of the chests screwed over the single mimic in the 3rd puzzle (<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="145">2:25</a>) First time I ever had to edit for this - this should not have gotten that many likes. I won't say thanks, I'm just voicing my shock and surprise. Golly

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="620">10:20</a> This puzzle was solvable. Start at the rightmost box. If it's lying, there must be at least 2 red mimics, which means the bottom row has a mimic. If it's telling the truth, the bottom row also must have a mimic. Therefore, there's at least 1 mimic in the bottom row. That means bottom left and middle are lying, while top left is telling the truth. Now go to the top right box. If it's telling the truth, then both the rightmost and leftmost boxes are lying. This gives you four mimics, which is impossible. That means top right box is lying, which means the rightmost box is telling the truth. It also means the leftmost box is telling the truth. Now, both the leftmost box and rightmost box are vouching for the bottom left box. Therefore, the final solution is bottom left, middle, and top right being mimics.
<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="618">10:18</a> - The third-row first-box is logically a mimic, even before the blue crystal. If the second-row third-box "1 Mimic is hiding in a red box" is a mimic, then it must not be the only red mimic (or else it would be telling the truth), therefore 3-1 must also be a mimic. Conversely, if 2-3 isn't a mimic, then there must be a red mimic and the only option is 3-1. From there, you can solve everything.
This game would be so good with legit dungeon crawling gameplay folded in, like the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series but part of the game loop is clearing a floor so you can access each chest, if you can't clear it you get incomplete information and have to take risks

I'm a native speaker and love puzzle games but I let it wash over me too lol, also remember that these are all edited down to remove the parts where Tyler is thinking about it all, it would be ridiculously impressive for anybody to process these puzzles as quickly as the video shows

The pain I felt when he sold unequiped gear before equipping best gear hurt my soul (even though it didn’t end up mattering)
If you're talking about at the end of the run, he did equip his best gear. You can see his gear icons get updated. The act of him clicking the optimize gear just got edited out it seems.

Explaining the thumbnail thing: If we assume there are 2 more chests, there's 3 mimics. Red can't say there's 4 mimics without being a mimic themselves, which is a paradox. Green CAN say there's 3, because that leaves one truthful chest (themselves). This logic depends on the assumption that there is only 4 chests, and breaks as soon as you add a 5th.
How about the case where both are lying and the other two are truthful?

This game keeps fucking with my head by going immediately from being stupid easy to brain melting, and then back to stupid easy again except haha nope you thought you caught one logical paradox but there was another haha which, I guess, is just what happens when you let an algorithm procedurally generate the puzzles.

No, no, see the top right chest, which he proved was safe, said there were 2 mimics, and his logic had already proven 2 mimics’ identities, so the box vouching for itself was fine. No 50/50.

What does "number of these boxes contain a mimic" mean? What these?
These boxes on screen? That statement always is an accusation, so that box is accusing a certain number of other boxes.
It could be worded as "There are X mimics in this puzzle". Since random is the only mode in which you don't already know this information, it can only appear in random mode. Also, random is the only mode that can have 4 mimic puzzles. All other modes cap at 2 or 3.

When it says “N mimics are hiding . . .” Does it mean exactly N or at least N? I might be crazy but it seems like Tyler treats it differently on different puzzles.

Tyler really needs to start to understand basic 1 dimensional logic. If a chest says that their colour contains a mimic, they are always telling the truth (if there are no confused chests) Why? Because mimic never points at themself when talking about possible mimics.
He has been doing that logic
@@MichaelDarrow-tr1mn Sometimes, like in the first puzzle in this video, he completely misses it and instantly goes for a more complex logic. But i suppose that in fact, it's more of an issue with his tunnel vision in puzzle games.

Those chests are kind of racist.
Well, its that damn chest fault tho
Don't really like the rpg part. You have control of basically nothing. Its up to luck if your gear is good or not. Equipments are really painful to switch between and if there are dupes you can't pick the damaged from the new one.
RPG part is motivation to open chests.
