I liked how that little ship kept flopping over when it gets disconnected from the connector.
It was sticking out just right to do that every time.
protip: you can override your gyro to roll you to the side. set it up once, then set 'override on/off' on your toolbar for every time you manage to flip the ship. single button press and huzzah, you're back to normal. also, using P is amateur hour, and you should know better also also, i haven't watched ahead yet or the next bunch of episodes, but if you aren't doing this already, you really need to be setting your connectors magnetic force to something smaller than the default. it starts at 0.015, but I like to drop it something like 0.05 or lower. especially on servers, you don't want a connector tugging at you forcefully and destroying random valuable components
5:00 This is why Splitsie smacks anyone who uses P ever. EVER. Put your parking brake on your hot bar, because if you are in the habit of using P, then this kind of thing inevitably happens lol.
Yeah, I put hand break on my hot bar.
I haven't heard that name in year's! Is he still doing a solo survival thing?
My Failsafe Hotbar Setup: (Ships) 1 = "Batteries" RECHARGE ON/OFF 2 = "Thrusters" ON/OFF 3 = Connector SWITCHLOCK 4 = "Breaks" (Backwards Trusters) ON/OFF When I want to take off: 1 2 3 When I want to dock: 3 2 1 When I'm in the air and want to coast and save fuel: 4 I only toggle my dampeners if I'm in space. Oh by the way: Piston clang is mostly just the force applied. If you turn it down instead of using default Newtons the piston will just stop and won't apply phantom forces strong enough to move a rover for example. I haven't had an issue for ages... Well I have, but only because I left the default settings. 😂
Yeah I turned down the positions after that mishap. That was actually the first time I ever flipped something with phantom forces, I'm usually very careful. I need to turn the inertial dampeners off when I'm docked to the rover so the thrusters don't fight the motion of the rover when I'm driving. I also don't want them lifting me and reducing traction. As for coasting to save fuel, that's a really good idea and you'll see me finally doing it in an episode or two.
This is one of the reasons why I don't like Autolock on the magplate/docking gears, especially by default. Gotta put them clamps in a group and turn em off before you ever do anything ever or else this kind of thing happens.
One thing I would suggest to keep from the scout ships flopping off the rover when you unlock the connectors is use your hotbar 1 on the scout ships and have 1 set to battery recharge, and 2 set to thrusters on/off and every time you get in the ship, just press 1 and 2 and take off. It's much less troublesome than worrying about the dampeners
That's a good idea, I've since changed from using parking break, to putting a hand break on my hot bar. Have a lot less troubles now.
I use an event controller checking the connector and starting a timer that does every boring stuff like recharge and antenna on/off. It’s a nerve saver!
@@IonVen I'll definitely be adding those where I can.
search missions are best done in space. They don't pay much because they're easy and the containers do dissappear when you complete them. Once you find them they automatically complete and the credits are deposited into your account. Just don't do the hauling missions unless you have a lot of jump drives
Yeah, I recently tried some search missions in space with good results. Still slow, but easy and consistent.
It's a nomadic base design. Those holes in the ground.
Ah, yeah, that makes sense.
You can conserve some energy if you turn off reverse thrusters while flying in a straight line. Just angle your ship forward so that it's pointing just under the artificial horizon and not into obstacles and stop pressing w. Also it will increase your max speed a bit
That's a really good idea. I actually started doing basically the same thing a bit ago (though for you it won't show up for a couple episodes, my recordings are way ahead of my posts to prevent sniping). I opted for turning off all but my UP thrusters and then gliding as you described. Wish I had thought of it sooner though, way more fuel efficient.
or turn off the inertia dampeners and only use up thrust with an forward angeled ship ... also works for your jetpack so you can can fly a long way.
@@bloodkiss4491 if you turn off inertia dampeners on the planet, you will fall. But in space yes, it also works
I actually do this occasionally, mostly with my jetpack. Whenever I'm talking about "flinging" myself that's what I doing.
It's a good option for jetpack flight even on planets. But I prefer other options for ships. A you said, it's the way to go for space flight though.
On scouts add another timer block (trigger now) battery recharge -- atmo -- antenna/ beacon -- ect.... on/ off one hot bar button power up/down ..
Another good idea, thanks!
I'm going to call you, User error, 😆
Accurate, can't complain.
On rover hot bar > "G" menu select cockpit Hand brake on/off ( will prevent the dreaded "P" of all other connected vehicles "falling" off)
Yeah, that's true, I probably should add that to the rover hot bars. I've used it before but am just so used to pressing P that I do it without thinking, even if I have another option set up. Need to retrain those reflexes.
Ore make the primary ships connecter not a parking connecter. There is a slider in the interface for that.
is this your server
Nope, it's a public server. I joined it at the start of the playthrough.
Why not use the survival kit to disassemble the tools instead?
Survival kits cannot be set to disassemble in the vanilla game.
@@ShiftyshadowTV Well I’ll be damned, I guess I haven’t used a survival kit in a while.
@@odd_bobble9106 Hahaha, it's all good, and completely understandable.
