This might come across as sarcastic, but I am entirely genuine when I say I apppreciate her for going where no fashion channel has gone before (at least not that I have seen)! A true hero.
I concur.
Yes! It is also a way to get It over with a bit faster, since you need less time to undress/dress
Hello! Can you please make some outfits by your "emotions of the day"? Because That is mostly how I dress and that predicts how I will act… So please can you do it? 😉 Love your videos by the way! 🤍
Agreed!
You're right. After feeling so exposed at a gynecologist appointment in 2009, I've never been back. And that is far worse. She is a hero.
At first I was like "I don't care how I dress to the gyn, I'm just going to wear what I want". But then she brought up a really good point that I've never thought about! Very practical, logical and helpful. She's a fashion genius tbh!
I came to the comments to say the same thing. ❤❤❤ She made me think also! Great stuff
IKR!!! I never thought about having to get up and get out quickly from the GYN! But nowadays, especially in the States with everybody wielding firearms these days, you never know when you might have to hop out of those stirrups and run for your life. Dresses to the GYN from now on👗 !!! Thanks Andrea!!!!
Same! I thought it would be something dumb like how you're supposed to be ✨your best self✨ in any situation, but nope, just a solid piece of advice. And then Albert Camew on the end. Perfection.
My doc makes me put a gown on for breast exams during my annual pap. If there's an emergency, I'm running out of the clinic with my embarrassment exposed to the wind.
@@PrairieDawnC yeah sometimes we are totally nekkid😭
This makes me so entirely grateful for my awesome gynecologist who offers wrap around skirts to his patients ☺️
excuse me *his*? 😨 Oh babe i could never.. BUT!! the rest sounds awesome, especially if youre nervous, to have someone offer you a wrap around skirt for it 😭
What that is amazing, mine has a full bed sheet for his patients, and not like a paper thing either.
@_abaddon666_ personally I've had so much worse experiences with female gynos. they're so aggressive for no reason💀
@@_edible_what do you mean by that????
@@Nick-dx2pt i could literally never have a male gynecologist i'd cry 😭😭 /hj
I always wear thigh-high socks and leave them on with the gown so I don't freeze. Then I treat myself to a milkshake on the way home!
Genius!
Dunkin Donut for me, lol 😂 but I'm adding a milkshake next time!
Treat afterwards…brilliant!😊
For me I get myself the biggest brown sugar bubble tea money can buy XD
I buy myself a new Barbie afterwards. 😂❤
I used to work in a Urogynecology clinic and one time we had a fire alarm go off and it was not a drill. Poor woman was of advanced age and mobility was difficult and she was without her pants 👖. Me and the MA assisted her as quickly as possible while the outrageously loud, extremely deafening alarm, was going off. She was feeling panicked too because of it all. We got her out and thankfully everyone in the building was safe. Honestly, if you have any appointment that requires underpants coming off, just come in a skirt and slip on shoes. Andrea truly makes a very valid point.
The alarm was so deafeningly loud in our school that we left several screaming people behind because we did not hear them. Luckily it was a drill.
You should keep blankets around to cover up the patient if something like this happens
Slip on shoes/sturdy slippers are a must for hospital visits, at least for the patient 😅.
@@akit4inuthere are things to cover, and fire blankets too. In case of actual need. (Possible burning etc).
Yeah but flameproof ones though.@@ismata3274
Fun (-ish) fact: in the US, you have to fully undress and put on a hospital gown. In Europe (at least definitely Germany and Austria) you just have to undress the parts that are being examined (hence the dress or skirt tip). No hospital gowns!
France too, I'm so glad we don't have gowns, these exams are as awful as is no need to put more embarassing steps.
I am from the states and it depends where you go at least for me if I'm wearing a top and bottoms yes but if I'm wearing a skirt or a dress They just tell me take off your underwear and hike it up that's it
Depends. My doc requires the top off because they do a breast exam too… but if you wear a skirt, as long as it can go up around your waist, they don’t care if you leave it on. All my docs over the years have felt this way. You sit on a little pad & are draped in a sheet. My doc office even springs for laundry services and real cotton sheets so if you had to, you could wrap up toga style in one… even as a plus sized person.
I am from the States. You are right. Everything comes off. They give you a disposable gown a disposable sheet to cover.
I'm from the UK and we get to keep our clothes on (except for the obvious necessary bits)
My ob/gyn requires folks to strip and put on a hospital gown. However, in the event of say, an evacuation, if you wore a stretchy dress to the appointment, it’s much easier to shed the hospital gown and shrug the dress on (skipping under-things - just throw your bra and panties in your bag) than it is to deal with shirt and pants.
Same.
Yeah, so this video totally threw me off. How I feel is they’re just making me undress anyway. And I’m not going in a dress with no underwear but I guess this would be in case an emergency happens so who really cares but I would feel uncomfortable without a bra
Yes! Like a nice t-shirt dress, or a maxi skirt and a hoodie maybe. And wear a bra that hooks in the front, or a pull on shorts bra or brakette.
@@mitchellerobersonget a bra that hooks in the front. If you're busy like I am, try the Enell sports bra. It's so comfy and super supportive. I wear a UK size HH cup, and I can jump on a trampoline with bounce in this bra.
That practice in American movies always threw me off, why undress completely and put a hospital gown on? Waaaay easier and faster just to take your bottom clothes off
I've never gone to a regular GYN appointment and not been instructed to fully disrobe. That said, a stretchy or flowy dress could easily be grabbed and thrown on, so it's something to consider!
Same.
Absolutely
Same here. I'm also given a gown to wear.
For some reason that seems to be the norm in the US. Here in Europe (at least the countries where I've been to the gyn) you just take off everything below the belt line - and at that point you've already talked to the gyn so you're not gonna sit and wait like that and usually you can dress again pretty quickly
@@MorgainLafee13 I believe the reason we have to fully undress is because they also do a breast exam. I don't know if that's different in Europe.
To think that yesterday I had never even thought about what Camus would have looked like if he had been born a cat, and today I know the answer with absolute certainty. Welcome, Albie!
I just had a biopsy done and wore a cute tea dress and I have to say I didn't feel nearly as exposed as I have when I've worn separates. Thanks for making a horrible experience less horrible 💜
Were you given anesthesia or even pain medication for the biopsy?
Hey hope you're doing well
I too am hoping that they have to appropriate anesthesia for that procedure
Yes, I've always done this. It's just so awkward, wearing just your top or sweater, with everything below uncovered. There's something about that, that makes me more uncomfortable than being completely naked. I go to the (mixed) sauna, so nakedness in and off itself is no big deal for me. Just one additional hint: don't wear a skirt from material, that stains easily. So not lightcolored or satin or stuff. It's not likely to happen, but if gel or something gets on it, you don't want to worry about stains.
Been there and it always reminds me of a recurring nightmare: Walking down the hall at school and my clothes are falling off in front of everyone. Porky pigging is SO much worse than full nudity.
At a sauna everyone is on equal footing. Bring even halfway undressed in front of an authority figure like a doctor is so much more uncomfortable and demoralizing.
As an awkward, autistic nerd with zero fashion skills I never thought I be subscribing to a fashion channel - but the way you deliver your content is so dang entertaining, fresh and just effortlesly fun I can't help but keep on watching! Take your time to rest and recharge! Bless you~
The topic feels unhinged but actually, in the future if i have to go to the gyneacologist, i will wear a skirt. Im not a skirt person but this is helpful advice!
No need for an apology, taking care of your life comes first! Welcome back!
Andrea, you're entitled to have time off, obviously. It's always wonderful to see you back with all your wisdom and creativity ❤😊
+
Not to mention humor! Andrea, glad you took some time away from content creation. We all need breaks now and then (even if the breaks aren't always fun ones).
i'm surprised more people haven't had this thought, but yes, i always wear skirts to my gyno appointments! i apply similar logic to shopping at the mall when i know i'm going to want to buy clothes; i go for slip-on shoes and minimally adorned outfits, because as much as i might like to wear my sunday best whenever i go out, i have to admit that finnicky shoes and bunches of jewelry make trying on clothes in changing rooms a nightmare.
It is good advice - you can also extend it to other types of appointments too. I like to wear a skirt or dress with shorts when the doc needs to take a look at my legs. It’s much more comfortable for both of us.
If I need an MRI or X-ray, a sports bra and yoga style pants (I don't do leggings) go a long way. Unless you need chest x-rays.
I like to wear a dress and no undies for leg appointment and pedicures. It's a fun surprise for all.... I'm just kidding, nobody wants to see my old ass, lol! My pedicurist said someone did come in like that once and he had to tell her to get the f out! He's a very good looking man and I'm positive she was trying to come in to him, poor guy. There's no end to the skanks in Ohio.
Same here - the doc seemed to think that was a great idea.[the shorts under a dress]
@@Traci_WebsingerYes, they let me wear my bra in the mri machine for my knee mri. But only because it had no metal at all in it. And they were doing my lower half. Maybe they wouldn't have allowed for an upper body scan.
@@sheelfjohnson I've been allowed to wear a metal-free bra and t-shirt for a cervical MRI. It doesn't work as well for a chest X-ray.
I never thought about wearing a skirt or dress for something like this. Its brilliant and so obvious. Even if you are wearing a gown, just slip on a dress really fast in case of an emergency.
I have a specific dress I always wear to the gyno. I have become an expert after so many appointments and ultrasounds. NEVER wear pants and always take spare underwear. If they put too much gel up there things can get gross very quickly.
I'm normally gender-nonconforming and don't generally wear skirts or dresses but this actually makes me feel a little more willing to go to the gyno. I always hated the idea of being completely naked from the waist down, it just feels so unnatural and exposed. There's an artist called Maya Kern who makes cute matching button-up/skirt combos in a variety of skirt lengths, that seems like it might be the perfect outfit since it would also allow for a breast exam. On an unrelated note, Ablie is so adorable and I'm deeply jealous that you get to see him every day
I thought I recognized the name Maya Kern! I saw on one of the store NerdyKeppie's personal blogs, those skirts and they're so amazing! People reading this should definitely check it out if they're interested!!
Hey in case you would still feel uncomfy in a skirt or a dress a long button down that goes past the butt looks great over jeans/pants and provides coverage as well when you take the pants off and would still work for a breast exam too, I personally really dislike skirts and where I am from we examine our breasts ourselves usually until it's time to get screened regularly so I usually just go for long or oversized shirts
I was always terrified of that 'notorious' chair😂😂😂 I learned the hard way that I should wear skirts or dresses. Many kisses for Albie💗💗💗 he's adorable
Alby is so precious!! Congratulations on the new member of your family🩷🩷🩷 I also prefer a skirt or dress for that particular appointment. Although, most days I choose a skirt or dress regardless of my activities 😅
Me too! Comfort n easy style
Great advice as always ! I would also add - if you do a breast exam at the appointment, wear something easy to remove on top. In that event, choose a skirt rather than a dress so you dont end up completely naked (unless the top of the dress can be pulled down without taking the whole thing off) (That said, i definitely should have an appointment soon lmao. Thanks for the reminder 😂)
when I had an echocardiogram they gave me a short gown/shirt thing to wear backwards (opening in the front) so my boobs wouldn't have to be out while they did it and it made me so much more comfortable. I would think a button-down shirt would give the same effect for an exam where they didn't have to apply anything to your skin. Ecgs are a form of ultrasound so they need that jelly stuff that would get on your normal clothes, it was one of the few times it felt necessary to wear a gown and made the procedure less stressful.
good point. I am always asked to go topless first and bottomless (top covered) second
I wore a dress to an (benign)ablation procedure and my nurses said they always call it the gynecology dress 😆
Albert Camew, how precious! ❤ You are one of a kind in fashion and personality.
Good advice! On the other hand, do NOT wear a short skirt to any appointments involving blood draw. I did it once and the door was open to the waiting room. I fainted, with the whole clinic seeing up my skirt 😵😂 Granted it was a bad clinic to position its chairs and doors in such a way, but it's good to be prepared
yikes! I have a needle phobia so I usually wear my most comfortable clothes (often a t-shirt and loose shorts or sweat pants) so I don't have to think about being uncomfortable on top of feeling like I'm going to die
I actually just quit wearing mini skirts and clothes, they are not comfortable at all. When wearing them, I always feel nervous and only think of "am i exposed already or not yet". Clothes should not add bother to our lives.❤
Having family matters to attend to and welcoming a new family member will always take precedence and we will wait for you. 🥰 Thank you very much for considering function as an important element to fashion.
At every gyn appointment I’ve ever been to they tell you to get fully undressed except for your socks and then put on a gown that is tied but will open to the front. Otherwise they cannot do the breast exam (unless you are old enough to get mammograms). Since they let me keep my socks on I always treat myself to a brand new cute pair of socks since that’s the only outfit the doctor will see me wearing! It’s also a great conversation starter because the medical team always comments about them! 🧦
FYI, as long as you come back, you never have to apologize for taking time off.
Aww albie is absolutely adorable! Congratulations on your new furbaby💜🐈⬛💜
He absolutely is! ❤️😽
This is very tongue in cheek. Love the bit of humor and it is practical. A lot of comments are taking this very seriously, and while yes it is a great point, I love Andrea's humorous serious-toned delivery.
Most offices here require a medical gown so you can get a breast and abdominal exam.
You can wear a wrap dress that allows you to move the top aside, or skirt and top combo, or fold the top of the dress over. You are also free to deny any part of the exam that you wish. I have personally never been to one that requires a medical gown, but I am sure most places would allow you to wear something else if you speak with them about it. You can work out with them the best course of action to ensure both your comfort and their ability to perform exams.
I've seen some scenes like that on tv where just going to the doctor requires you to get naked and in a gown. I've never had to do that at the gyno or even when I got a stomach scan, just pulled my shirt up and leggings down.
You can choose not to wear a gown. Gowns are encouraged because many clothes are not exam friendly. If you wear a skirt and a loose top with easy fasteners, you can accomplish everything. While you always want to look nice, medical situations require that function takes the lead over style.
No. Also, not everybody lives where you live. In my country there's nothing like that
@@AA-cf4esNot everybody lives where you live either.
I would never have thought about the possibility of having an emergency pop-up while stuck in the stirrups! I'm a new subscriber here and I love Andrea's videos. I'm also in love with all the critters! So cute!
This would work in the USA because the exams are completely naked for a breast exam as well. But I have starting taking a nice bathrobe (or dressing gown) and my doctor just giggles and calls me bougie.
I love the newest family member, he is so cute! Also the skirt or dress is a great idea! Those gowns they give you wouldn't do much in the cover up department if you had to run. Thank you Andrea!!
This was me yesterday!! I wore a mini denim skirt with a long button down blouse over it. I removed the skirt and still felt fine having the long flowy blouse on.
That sounds like a super cute outfit though!!
Albert is oh so adorable!❤ and you don't need to apologize for taking some time to yourself, family is the most important thing! I am glad to see you back though!!

A skirt with a easy button top is good. That will allow for breast exam and stethoscope. You can maintain modesty and be ready for anything.
Aww Albert is so cute!!!! ❤
Hello, precious Albie! I love the pun! Whatever modesty the (US) military didn't beat out of me, pregnancy and giving birth did. I'd probably still wear my comfy pants... and run out on my God-given glory until I could get dressed again. 😂
my apartment started on fire while i was in the shower!! i ran outside with just a towel, no shoes, into a foot of snow and ice. my entire building burned down. so grateful that my neighbors brought me shoes and blankets and helped me get safely to a friend's house.

I've had to strip and change into a hospital gown for my gyn appointments. They also gave me a sheet for some coverage as well. I don't wear tight clothes to those appointments anyways. Getting a pelvic exam is always painful. 😭

Omg, your new kitten is sooo cute 😍. As for the gyno, i always wear a dress. But, it doesnt matter, i have to take off all my clothing since she also does a breast exam. The office does give a robe (a bit more thicker than a hospital gown).

I always wear a dress to the gyn! They usually compliment how practical it is lol. Adorable cat.
Hello Albert Camew!! Very nice to meet you!! 🫶🫶 Thank you for the great advice Andrea!! Plus, you really know what you're talking about! Always happy to watch your videos, even happier to know you took some deserved time off!! :)
I absolutely love it when you show your cats and bunnies. They are the cutest things I've ever seen!
I laughed out LOUD!! I thought I was the ONLY one thought about a Fire during GYNECOLOGY exams! 😂😂😂😂 I always had to take off ALL my clothes so the Dr can do a Breast exam as well
Reminds me of the time we had a general health check up at work, which included an xray. I went to work wearing a fitted sportsbra with no clasps or hooks. The technicians were impressed because it was apparently the first time they met someone who did that 😂 didn't even have to change out of my clothes
Here they usually don't let you keep those on, even if there aren't any wires or claps (which I think is rather unfair. >_>)
Congrats on your new kitty! He's so cute! I love his little blink at the end!😻
As mama said "SKIRT. ALWAYS." Love both your style and personality ❤ We want more of you!

I have one of these appointments on Monday and hadn’t put much thought into what I would wear but now I know I’ll be wearing a dress 😊 this so smart!
As a big Camus fan my heart skipped a beat when you announced your cat's name 😊
Albert is wonderful! I love Siamese/pointed cats! I've had two. He's going to be a talkative, lively, very attention--seeking companion. I've had at least 4 recent OBGYN exams due to a sudden health issue and have another scheduled next week. I've mostly worn pants. I will try skirts for my next appointment. Never considered emergencies in my wardrobe selection for the day. Though it does happen. I wore some super high sandals once to work, only for the power to go out in the entire area due to some glitch. My employers refused to let us go home, so we pretty much hung around the office unable to do anything while the bosses waited for word from the power company as to when the power was going back on. They waited too long. The back up power generators only gave power for 3-4 hours, then they too went out. When they finally decided for us to go home, we had to take the stairs down. With no lights on in the emergency exit stairs because the employer had waited too long and the emergency lighting was also out. It was pitch black and I was in my highest heels, going down the stairs by feel.
Congratulations on Albie joining the family! I always wear a long skirt when I’m going to gyny stuff for exactly those reasons. And also I just feel more comfortable when I can be covered instantly if I want to be.
I wear two piece outfits, but they usually have you get completely undressed and into a "one size fits nobody" gown. The best way to avoid embarrassment is to grab something and cover your face!
@@farbenfroh7279everywhere I've lived in the United States, the norm is that they have the patient change out of her clothes into either a cloth or paper gown. It's really quite a bummer.

I am 73 and that was wonderful! What a great suggestion, which I wish I’d though of decades ago. Over and above the alarm issue it’s so much easier to get ready for the exam and dress again afterward. Even more so as I’ve been disabled for over 20 years.
Love your new kitty, so cute. God bless you and your fur babies.
We are given hospital gowns - because a breast exam is part of the exam. Never once did I think of a fire happening and my exposed self struggle to get clothes on. Now I shall, every. single. time. Thanks so much. 😄😆🤣😂

Albert CaMEW 😹 Andrea might have been away but her pun game is as strong as ever 😂❤
Missed you! Glad you’re ok & Albert is lucky! GYN also checks your boobs too and if you need a biopsy, which is more likely than a fire alarm, you’re gonna bleed and a short skirt won’t do!
Why? Scoop the skirt up like you would do with a t shirt, so no blood of fluid goes on it
I learnt many years ago to go in a dress or a skirt. That way whilst i still feel embarrassed about having my lady garden on full display i can still cover myself up quickly. Yes i still get embarrassed at the age of 50! No i don't have any children. I have the joys of mammograms starting thus year! 😭 Squashed boobies here i come 😂 Cute kitty absolutely beautiful ❤

What a handsome little guy! Albie, how wonderful! Keeping this in mind when I finally make that appointment.
I enjoyed the video (especially Albert!), but I have to say in all my years of gynae visits (UK and NZ), I've never once been examined while in a chair - notorious or otherwise! Always on a high, padded-but-firm bench-type "table". Different countries, different methods, I guess.
