This is not a complete guide to doing a swap but gives some insights to how big of a project it is and some considerations when deciding if you want to take on this project and the best ways to go about doing it.

Can you make a video how you get the rear a/c unit to work heard you need some module or some to get rear a/c unit cause I need a/c unit rear for family

I documented the process of installing a 3rd row seat in my 2018 FPIU, which includes sizing a doughnut wheel that's QUITE close to the stock wheels. Great looking videos.
The real fun of this project is looking at all the trim pieces that came off this car.

My fpiu 2013 has the dimmer already In it’s a old Police car but the dept put the dimmer lights on top to come off and off slowly and also has daytime running lights when you open the door it daytime lights come on and inside dome lgihrs come on

Make sure to double check every nook and crany I found 2 crack pipes and 1 rig 😅😅On the 2016 you don't have to pull out the big rear metal tube supports for backseat to be installed. If your installing third row then yes you do.

Where did you find the plug to connect to the center console main plug?
I rewatched the video, so thank you again. I noticed at the end of the video when you lifted the gate at 31:59 - no backup camera. Did you decide not to install one or did you just not have one available? I thought it would be a good time to install while everything was stripped.
I bought the OEM camera and harness but found that it is not compatible with the PIU, at least for the 2013 without sync. So I will be making a video to install an aftermarket that looks mostly factory later.
@@depolicify can’t wait to watch. I read there are upgrades from sync 2 to sync 3, but I didn’t it understand fully. On a separate note, do you know what front seats are compatible with a PIU’s? I had captain Taurus X for the second row installed, then opted out for the stock bench. Wasn’t sure what front ones I could use, or maybe just the covers, because, as you mentioned, of the airbag issue.
Have anybody tried here to install start push button instead of key and change mirrors to ones with turn signals?

Great video. I just bought a 2017 black Ford PIU in Canada. Alot of kms 338133!!! Thats 225120 miles. I sm heading to u pick yard this weekend. I was just planning to pull the center console n carpet. I did a Ford PIS a few years aho and 2015 PPV tahoe. Enjoyed your other videos as well. Keep you posted. I paid 3500 CDN with auction fees. Clean car fax. 48 setvice records all at Ford Dealer. No lights on dash.. where do you buy vehicle in Alaska. State auction?

Question!!! Mine was a fleet car made into a cruiser. The center console was taken out and it has the AWD select shift. Will the consoles that have the cupholder instead of the select shift work if I pop the cupholder out?
So if I understand correctly it is still column shift? If you are referencing the round terrain knob then yes it will pop in where the round pocket is. the smaller round hole is not a cup holder, just a small round pocket. It is too small to fit any kind of cup in, maybe a kids Dixie cup.
Nope it’s a floor shifter and that’s exactly what I was wanting to know since I have found a console that has the pocket but wasn’t the select shift. Thank you very much! Enjoying the videos!!

I had just purchased a used 2018 unit. Had you ever seen or heard of a steel hatch over the spare tire well? This vehicle has one & it weighs a ton! There's two cylinders that are SUPPOSED to aid in access, but I think they might be worn out! Thanks for your videos!
Yes one of mine had that hatch. I of course removed it and my neighbor asked to have it.

Did you leave the full size spare in the trunk? Mine is stopping by 3rd row from fully folding flat
In one of my PIU's I swapped in an explorer donut spare. In the other one I just leave the spare out.
I’m curious, I have a 2014 interceptor and I just got some nice leather seats from junkyard for it. Drivers seat works fine. But when I use the factory harness to plug in the passenger seat it does not work.
Was your original powered seat manual? If so you need to run a power wire. See my video on seat wiring.
@@depolicifyok so as you recommended I was able to get the passenger seat power options functioning. I swapped out the occupancy bladder and even the seat belt buckle. How ever I still have the air bag light on. The codes im coming up with are U2300 and B1417. Is there another thing I’m missing to get the air bag light to shut off.
I believe 1417 is in reference to one of the front seat belts having a short or not being plugged in.
@@depolicify ok yeah I googled it and it’s plugged in and has a good ground. I guess I’ll just deal with the air bag light.
Did you add the memory seats?
They are memory equipped seats but I did not wire the memory function. See the seat install video.
Did you have to use the metal bracket from an explorer to latch down the 2nd row seats?

@@depolicify Just picked up a '15 PIU. Want to swap in rear buckets. Can't find those brackets anywhere. Can you point me in the direction of somewhere to look? Trying to get sellers on that big auction site to pull them for you (even at an added price) isn't proving fruitful. Better yet - are those 4 "front" brackets even necessary for the 2nd row buckets?
Every explorer (PIU excluded) have them reguardless of bucket or bench seats. Your best bet is finding a pick-n-pull with one, or someone of cragslist/FB marketplace who is doing a part-out. Check my rear seat install video for the part numbers if you want to pay online pricing.@@pappysgarage2403

Hey i have a question my from passenger seat isnt workkng and i changed it does it have to be do via forscan because the power isnt working on my pass seat what would be the issue
Did both the old and new seat have power controls to begin with? If you are going from manual to powered seat you have to run a power wire from the violet/red wire on the drivers side to the new seat on the passenger side.
How much u pay for the seats?
I’m having trouble with my 2nd row seat belts, when I bought it the seatbelts where tucked behind the trim, I can see them from the top hole but I don’t see a hole on the bottom for them to come out. Do I need to get a new quarter panel? Or is there a different way they mount?
They only come out of the trim at the top, you have to pull it through the moon shaped hole and then they anchor to the floor.

You did not show how the spare tire cargo area (sides and bottom ) looked after you finished.
I am trying to find a center console for my 2013 ford explorer intersept. Any recomendations on where I should look?
First try Facebook marketplace for people parting out 2011-2019 Ford Explorers. If that doesn't work check local salvage yards, particularly any which specialize late-model vehicles (probably not pick n pull since they are usually older). Team PRP is a good place to find yards. LKQ is another option. If all else fails check on eBay. Anywhere you get it from try to ensure they are including all hardware and mounting brackets that mount to the floor. I always prefer to pull them myself if possible so I can be sure to get all the right parts.
My 2017 PIU has the grab handle on the passenger side. 🤷🏻♂️
They started that from 2016+. 11-15 does not.
2013-2019 interior is the same? I just bought 2017 And I’m looking at junkyard
Yes, and some Ford Flex, not sure if the year range. It’s obvious when you look in a flex and see how the seats are mounted and compare to an Explorer they’ll be the same. 2011-12 explorers also work but you have to overhaul all the wiring and sensors from the passenger seat as they are a little different.
