NO NEED TO VISIT MAIN DEALERS - The cost of ownership is lower than you think - even thought my bill seems high its actually very reasonable compared to main Bentley dealers and other specialists.

  • Thanks for that info very good vid. I really am quite surprised at the amount of things that go wrong, wear out, fail on the Bentley Continental which results in a great expense to rectify. I do realise that having, owning a super car is an expense, but at the initial cost you would think there would be quality built in, not just opulent leather and trim but quality reliable mechanics ! I’m seriously considering getting one ( not new ) but am now having doubts when I see so much adverse comments about the car. One of my cars is a mk1 Kia Sorento 4x4, 16 years old, only thing I’ve done in the 7 years I’ve had it is replace an injector, a new battery and discs and pads, plus annual service. Clean as a whistle. Even had the original exhaust ! I use it mainly for taking my German Shepard out and any off road use. It will probably be going strong long after the Bentley has given up the ghost !

    @stratsw@stratsw3 жыл бұрын
    • Hahaha - power to the Kia! It’s the cost of labour which really adds up since accessibility is not great on these cars. Yes always keep doing research and see if it’s right for you as the last thing you want is that ‘money pit’ feeling. That said, I prepared myself for the worst when I got the car and it hasn’t cost me too much each year. I tend to budge for £3k on serving and repairs each year. Insurance is surprisingly low. Thanks for watching 👍🏽

    • Thanks! For a GT go for a 2008 model as they made a lot of upgrades under the bonnet (inc the ability to access certain hoses which DO NOT require the engine to be dropped!). Take your time when looking. Less owners the better. As much main dealer service history the better. Interior and buttons should still be perfect if the previous owners have taken care of them. I saw 4 owner cars and they looks BAD.

I Def you encorange you to do some basic repairs yourself especially when it's simple replacements and cleanings. Of course, time is money, so it's all what's important to you.

Apparently the rails that hold the roof get bent a little and then rub I'm never putting my top-down again $12000 for a top that's crazy. I'll take it to Mexico they'll do it for 2000.

  • Thanks for the video.very helpful . I own a 2007 GT, and I can say, because it is a VW engine, ZF6 automatick gear box , many things are from an A8, Phaeton or even a Passat. I do all that I can myself at home. Spare parts are not made by Bentley ( eg spark plugs are NGK , intake temp sensors are Valeo or any other brand, and so on.... ) so you can save tons of money buying them , in a regular auto parts shop, of course, they won,t be wraped in a fancy black Bentley box, but......honestly, WHO CARES ! It is very helpful to buy the pen drive with all the info about the car, and how to do things on it. Cheers. David

    @RyanHarris77@RyanHarris772 жыл бұрын
    • Yes that’s true - there are websites that can help you look up equivalent part numbers. And yes the saving is big. However if you have taken to a specialist or main dealer - they always use the Crewe parts and not always easy to pre-empt which part might need replacing 😖 spark plugs are one such example where you can purchase the correct NGK ones rather than Crewe boxed ones.

    • …and imagine the costs of it all if I took it to a main Bentley dealer! I picked this place cos he is an ex-Bentley Crewe mechanic - who actually used to work with another Bentley specialist up in Cheshire where I bought my car from and where it was serviced too! For sure there are many cheaper places to service this car, but from my research and within decent driving distance to where I live he seems to be open and honest by explaining everything to me clearly.

    • @@zakmirza I dont own a Bentley but had experience dealing with Chelmsford Bentley. I was a step away from taking them to court. All the papers were with the court. They were the worst company to deal with. Real crooks. They sold a car with falsified inspection papers. Lied about the inspection... it was terrible. I realised Bentley isn't what people think it is and their engineers aren't any better than a back street garage. They essentially are out to make as much money as they can and the dishonest way also works for them. 'Ex-bentley' just means 'ex-con' in my book and £22 for a 10 sec job is a perfect example.

    • Damn! Really shocked a big dealership like Chelmsford would even TRY that on! Either way, cars are a money pit and I’m a sucker for cars 🥺 thanks for sharing your experience with everyone here; appreciate it!

    • @@zakmirza I’m from the US. Labor cost here in shops are out of control here as well. I’ve been mislead by a shop before saying something needed to replaced but they didn’t replace it but charged me for it. The pricing on some of the things you mentioned just seems so inflated. I agree tho I learned a few things about cars myself in order to save money such as break changing, oil changing and fluid changing.
