Never pause a David Gilmour solo a unforgiven sin!
One of Gilmour's most beautiful solos, and the lyrics are as relevant today as they were when written. Rick's keyboard and the backing singers elevated it to the stratosphere. Just wonderful.
Yes the words. They all miss the words. We did not!
I saw them on this tour three times. No concert like a Pink Floyd concert, simply incomparable to anything.
Ha! MEEE TOOO! I waited in line for HOURS to get tickets each time! 1989… maybe 1988 - ha no matter it was (every time) amazazazazzzing! Pink Floyd is a foundation of my life’s soundtrack! I’m actually time traveling back to a moment (in the high seats) but blown away by the lasers the pig flying through the stadium and FEEELING every beautiful moment! RIP to my beautiful, friend Leland! A very shy and quiet guy with red hair (yes, a mulllet) I was a super talkative (annoying) girl that sat next to him in science our sophomore year - he finally relented and we became the VERY BEST IF FRIENDS! Haha I didn’t know I annoyed him so much until way later! We drove to San Francisco and had the BEST NIGHT EVER! He improved my u turn and I taught him (hilarious) how to remember that Wednesday had a d in it! So cool how the tiny moments that seem so insignificant become the gems 💎 we carry… and it’s the music that threads all of them into a warm blanket… if I could make a quilt of these… ahhhhh… (ok a completely different quilt from watching “the wall” at the midnight movies-- only the “old “ people know what I’m talking bout… We maybe “old” … but sooo young as we listen … maybe that’s just me? 🤷♀️ idk 🥰
@@Soibottleditup that was the craziest time... you'd wait for many hours, or camp out over night, get your tickets, and learn the show had sold out in an hour. but it was such a part of the experience, hanging out with people with the same taste in music, seeing them again at the concert... those were really good days...
I saw them at the Carrier Dome on the tour. It was not "easy" to get tix, but it was not as bad as some other posters describe.
@@johnmorgan7262 it really depended on the venue. I saw them at the CNE a couple of times, and as I recall, tickets were gone in 57 minutes for one of the shows. Me and three friends camped out on the sidewalk, with about 200 other people, in front of Sam the Record Man downtown, which is where Ticketmaster was. For a show in Detroit, a friend camped out, was in the middle of the line to get in to Ticketmaster the next day, and was the last person to get tickets there.
I envy you, I am a big fan but missed to go to any of their concerts or Gilmours solo concerts. Not sure if Gilmour will do a live tour again, loved the CD live in Gdansk Poland. One of my favourite albums is Davids first solo album called David Gilmour, check it out you will not be disappointed., all songs are great.
David makes his guitar cry! Makes me cry everytime I hear rhis song!
I attended this Pink Floyd Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The concert was a great moment in time.
I was a headbanger in the mid 80's but liked Pink Floyd. Then I saw then live in New Haven CT. Then I fkn loved Pink Floyd. They are next level musicians and entertainers. Even their light show is second to none. Legends 💪
The greatest band ever.❤❤❤
David Gilmour's lead and the haunting lyrics make this a classic ...never want it to end ...
I had the rare opportunity to see David Gilmour live in 2015. It was an experience in music that description fails to give a fair representation. Truly something special that I feel blessed to have been witness to.
No Roger no party but this is an exception to me. This is pure gold ♥️
Thought they were as good without the jerk waters. At least they were happy and you could tell in their music on their tours
I was at the Earl's Court Pulse concert and you are exactly right, I kept looking around at the crowd and it was amazing, people weren't jumping about cheering instead they were just sat there staring at the stage trying to take it all in like they were transfixed. The entire concert, it was just unreal, surreal. Sadly they didn't do this song at Pulse, it's one of my favourites and I would have loved to hear it live.
1 song at Pulse that people stood was "Run Like Hell". Fans know that P.F. is music you sit and listen not just hear. At home lights out headphones and a big fatty
Not just a cool rhythm, but the lyrics! Beautiful!
The craftsmanship of their songs is astounding nothing is rushed and one magnificent sound builds on the next. No guitarist pulls more feeling out than Gilmour. Unbelievable
The backing singers paired beautifully with Gilmour's solo.
I saw Pink Floyd in 1980, "The Wall" concert, it was the most incredible, phenomenal performance I've ever seen, of any kind, in all my 68 years on this planet! Simply astounding!
Young ladies unbelievable back up
no cellphones to keep the crowd occupied. "SORROW" from the same album is incredible. Check it out from the pulse concert.
No matter how many times I listen, that solo always makes me cry like a baby 😊
Very deep and emotional song
Pink Floyd to me is the best band of all time. Only for connoisseurs like You. I have the entire Pink Floyd discography ❤
The words to this tear my soul apart...and then add in all the rest! Perfection! Thank you, Maggie!
I actual got to see them on this tour in Raleigh and again in the early 90's ! Both Shows were epic!
So heartfelt and sadly awesome. Makes one with anykind of good soul think a bit. Masterclass as always. All the in betweens that David does is gold to your ears. Solid gold. Great job reacting.
I saw Pink Floyd during their Pulse era in Dallas at Texas Stadium. Freaking amazing!
YESSSSSS -- I was at PINK FLOYD LIVE in Indianapolis Indiana USA at the HOOSIER DOME back in the early mid 90's. Tickets were given to me as a Birthday gift. PINK FLOYD was my favorite for years before I ever went and they are still my NUMBER #1 band of all time. There were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
I was there as well! Right of center stage about 20 rows back on the floor. Mind was blown!
I was there as well...I believe Floyd played in the Dome twice over 3 years maybe?
This is one of my favorites, and yes, I saw them live in Montreal on the Division Bell tour. The classy trio of PF backup singers adds so much to the soundscape. You almost don't want it to end.
Saw them in Clemson, SC in May of '94. Truly unique experience that I am grateful to have been present for.
I was blessed to see this performed live in London 1989 , thanks for your reaction
I’ve been to 4 live shows, one of which was this tour. And yes, they are literally an amazing live experience (and I’ve seen many of the greats in rock history) Greatest band of all times
I am a classically trained musician in piano first, then guitar, and for fun bass. My mother was first chair in Boston Pops under Arther Fiedler before John Williams. I only say all that to say this... I wish I had written this song!!! Thank you for covering this. His (David Gilmore) blues hits me to this day. That kind of feeling knows NO trend! One of my favorite songs speaking as an Irishman. Just now subscribed. Please just keep doing what ya do. GO BOSTON BRUINS!!! 🍻🤟👏
Welcome! 🤗
I saw this tour live in Providence, Rhode Island, also saw the Pulse tour at RFK Stadium. The keyboard Richard Wright is playing at the beginning is a Roland JX10, I've got one sitting next to my desk. They're a big influence on my music.
"I have seen this tour four times and the 1994 tour three times. Since then, I have been to around 40-50 concerts, but these tours still remain my favorite ones by a long shot. The production values were awesome, particularly during those years. There was an indescribable mystique about them- the sound quality, the compositions- I can't explain it. These concerts are etched in my memory forever."
Oh dear the eleventh commandment is never interrupt a DG solo 😒 but nice reaction
I attended lots of concerts starting in the 60's. These guys were the best.
“It's a sin that somehow Light is changing to shadow and casting its shroud over all we have known”. Reality in 2024. Teachers, leave them kids alone.
Yes, I have had the pleasure of going to shows on both this tour and the Pulse tour. EPIC. Literally, the best.
LUUUUUCKYYY! ❤😊
Saw the Pulse show in Lisbon. Its was all you can imagine and even more. A part of me is reliving that day over and over.
Yes. saw them live in a soccer stadium in Hamilton Canada. unbelievable and life changing event. no words can describe the journey they take you on
It's nice to see contemporary appreciation of some of the finest musical works of all time. Each artist as well as the group as a whole display incredible musicianship as well as musicality. The depth of the lyrics never cease to amaze, especially considering how young they were when it was created
I was at the Pulse Concert in 1994, Sydney Australia.
I saw this tour in Providence, RI in 1987 and then twice in 1988 in Foxboro, MA on the stadium leg of the tour. Also saw them twice on the Pulse tour again in Foxboro in 1996. The show was beyond belief for that era and still a benchmark for all live shows to aspire to being. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of concerts over my 57 years and there are very few show I have gone to that have left such a strong lasting memory as those nights, especially the stadium shows. I can still picture the lights cutting through the fog on one night and the echo behind me sitting in the opposite end zone as the sound carried through the parking lot.(I had close seats the first night, I chose to be in the end zone the second night just to take in the entire spectacle of all the lights) The fact that was 30 years ago and these videos bring back those memories speaks to how special those concerts were. Funny thing is I can't remember what I had for breakfast two days ago but I can remember those details.
Not only have I seen them live, as you asked... They were my first concert in 1975 for Wish You Were Here tour. Then I've seen every tour since, with this show twice.
Hi Maggie. Yes, I was fortunate enough to see Pink Floyd on tour in May 1994 in the old Foxboro Stadium in Massachusetts while they were on the Division Bell Tour (a.k.a. PULSE concert), so it was a few years after this concert. This song, as you're probably already aware, was from the 'Momentary Lapse of Reason' album, and this was from that tour. And yes, when I saw them perform in 1994, it was an amazing experience! The best concert I ever attended. Great reaction!
I've seen Pink Floyd many times live in concert. Especially during the 1987 and 1994 tours. I treasure each time. It's a journey and experience to say the least. It's something similar to a religious experience. Beautiful 💗
This was a great concert when this tour first started . Thanks Maggie. I had 2 friends die right after this came out. Somehow it applied to them.
What an amazing song. At 553 when they all sing in unison its so angelic to me. And the meaning gets me everytime. Great reaction. Keep the floyd songs coming
yes i saw their MLOR concert tour just before pulse concert, it was epic and much of the Pulse concert came from that tour!
I got to see this show live, back in the day. I have seen many, many shows, but this one was the best.
Saw Floyd 3x in '87, '89, and '94....some of the best concerts I've seen
I love Pink Floyd 😍😍
I saw the PULSE tour in 1994 at RFK Stadium in D.C. It's still the best show i've ever been to by far.
Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite Pink Floyd concert videos! I love the guitar solo in this song; it's so emotive! While I never got to see Pink Floyd live, I did see David Gilmour (the singer/guitarist) on his 2016 tour for his solo album, 'Rattle That Lock', when it came through Chicago. It was thrilling and the guitar solos were epic (of course!). I had only become a fan of Pink Floyd the year prior, so I was thrilled that I got to see David Gilmour in concert. He did a mix of his solo songs along with Pink Floyd classics. He only seems to tour about once per decade (prior to 'Rattle That Lock', his previous solo album came out about 10 years before that). He is apparently working on a new solo album; I hope he will tour it, as I'd love to see him in concert again.
My favorite of their music.
Saw them twice. Epic is a bit of an understatement.
I had the honor to see them a few times life - and at the end of every concert as the lights in the arena turned on and realize - this is over I thought: no yet i have to go back in normal ife - i don´t want to ^^
My favorite guitarist great singer too
I saw this concert,my wife got me tickets. David Gilmour is the reason I started to learn guitar in 1980,been playing ever since.
I saw them do Dark Side of the Moon in 1972 before the album was released while stationed in Germany in the army. The show was awesome for that early time but the sound and light tech became much more sophistcated by the time of this show. The music was all we really needed back then.
I saw this tour twice, once in Cleveland and then again in Pittsburgh. Then a few years later in Pittsburgh when they did the Pulse tour. The level of detail that is put into a Pink Floyd show is epic. First of all the musicians are on another level. Even the sound, lights and FX are over the top.
I love you all Absolutely best band ever EVER This is an amazing song to to bring peace and happiness in are lives We how important that word is WE WE ARE ONE PEOPLE WE ARE ONE NATION WE ARE FAMILY WE ARE BROTHERS WE ARE ALL SISTERS WE CAN DO AMAZING THINGS TOGETHER So stop the hate start the love please Go to someone today you would never go to and tell them hay I love you you'll be Surprise Don't give up on us WE LOVE YOU ALL
Twice in Toronto, just across the pond from Rochester, NY. Maggie, the thing about watching live performances "to see how the sounds are made", is you have to have your eyes OPEN! No reaction whatsoever to my favorite vocal moment of the song, occurring at both 10:11, and also at 11:01, watching your mind's eye😊
Thanks! Pink Floyd was absolutely amazing, live as well as in the studio.
Thank you so much!! 🎶🤘😜🤘🐶💖
Saw them live at the Orange Bowl in 87. I wish I had appreciated them then like I do now.
Ahahah! I made a comment thought it was 88-89 but you ARE correct!! It was 1987!!! Good god I should’ve done the math .. but c’mon … I hated math!! Hahaha but I. Loooooved going to concerts and saw Pink Floyd 3 times during that tour! Whoa!!! Every time BLOWN AWAY!
Pink Floyd, Montreal Olympic Stadium on July 6, 1977. After two encore songs, the crowd kept asking for more, to the point that even though the white lights of the stadium were on, the crowd kept asking for more. Despite most of the crowd staying to see the band do the "Drift Away Blues" number while roadies get the equipment out, (apparently Nick Mason was HILARIOUS since at the end he basically had nothing but his seat and one of his drums).
I saw this live in 1988 In Stuttgart. It was their Momentary Lapse of Reason tour and to this day the best concert I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to a lot of concerts and nothing compares to a Pink Floyd concert
I saw the Division Bell Tour, and I honestly cried how good how David was.
Maggie, a lot of other people are likely to say this, as well, but here goes. You _never, ever_ stop a David Gilmour guitar solo in mid-flight! Eek! It is almost the unpardonable sin of the music world! Especially _this_ guitar solo, which many of us Pink Floyd fans hold to be his greatest ever! Other than that I am sure this song is going onto your favourites list, as well it should! 🎸🎸🎸💖💖💖
Truer words have never been sung❤
Thank you Maggie. It’s kind of strange that Pink Floyd an in general rock music, is getting so much recognition for the younger generation. That’s thanks to you and others doing these reaction videos. During the 80’s and 90’s the world turned its back on rock it was disco, rap and hip hop. Rock was old and had had its day. It wasn’t mainstream. This particularly happened with in the UK. I grew up on this stuff. Pink Floyd were amazing live the music took your soul/spirit on a journey, your u would have it. Thank you again God bless John
Saw them four times, twice in one week, in October 87 at Capital Centre and June 1988 at RFK Stadium in DC and again there in July 1994. Epic proportions.
I went to a Pink Floyd concert in 1994, and I can still hear it today. That's how loud the speakers are at one of those.
If you want the absolute pinnacle of live performances anything from the Pulse concert will blow your mind.
saw them play live 3 times they are burnt on my soul
Saw this tour in Indianapolis. First ever concert. Mind blown. It is a constant smorgasbord of sensory overload!
I got to see them on my birthday in 75. They played the Dark Side album and part of the Wish you were here album.
This my favorite Pink Floyd song.
I was at the “Rain Like Hell” show at Rice Stadium I. Houston 1994. A storm blew in with 50 mph wind , driving rain and lightning that hit the stage while they were playing run like hell 😂 everyone did run for the exits, the water was ankle deep in the parking lot. You could see the storm coming and for about 20 min before it started raining the lightening in the distance going off with the light show was awesome
I was there to
Yep saw them live in 1988, 1989, and 1994. Nothing compares.
All about the message!!!!
This is one of my favorite songs. Often on the stereo at 11 if'n I have had a bad day.
Saw them in Jack Trice stadium im Ames. Bing in tbe middle of tbe music and light show was something else
I was priveleged enough to see Pink Floyd 'The Wall' in 1980 in Germany. The most amazing experience i have ever witnessed at a live show
A David Gilmour guitar solo, very memorable. And yes it is very easy to zone out to this musjc, I know I have. Very good reaction Maggie. Interesting you said about being at their concert and not screaming and stuff, in an old interview; they mentioned about wishing the audience would be quiet while they played.
I may have been at this show. They filmed multiple nights at the Nassau Colosseum. I attended one of them. I remember thinking that, even if I was deaf, it was still worth the price of admission. I think it’s time to react to the NY based band Dream Theater, and their Juilliard trained keyboardist Jordan Rudess. The drummer, bassist and guitarist are Long Island guys who formed the band at Berkeley in Boston. The singer is a Canuck with some operatic training. Live performances from Radio City, Boston Opera House, or Tokyo’s Budokan are your best options. “Breaking All Illusions” in Boston is a fave. “In the Name of God” in Tokyo is very good. “Metropolis- Part 1” in NYC, accompanied by Orchestra, is also very good. Enjoy.
I saw them in 84ish, exactly how you would think it would go!
The thing you have too remember is, Pink Floyd started in the late 1960’s. They didn’t sound like anyone else and in fact, many of the contemporary artists sample, copy, or mimic PF’s sounds, cord patterns and guitar solos. All that being said, have you tried and Supertramp? PF and Supertramp, are my top two bands of all time. Completely different, but both exceptional. Try some “Crime of the Century “ tunes. I’m pretty sure you will love it. 😎🎸🎶👍🇨🇦
I'm already a follower of yours
Seen them 5 times
I recommend that you also listen to Echoes (parts I and II), by Pink Floyd. This song is an incredible experience. The song's riff is a classic.
And Shine On You Crazy Diamond
I know Pink Floyd when I hear them. And I instantly know a cover. I grew up with them in the 1970's. You can't fool me.
I went to see this particular tour about 4 times. I was at this exact show. And yes, being there was remarkable. Many moments u find people with their jaws dropped including mine. Being an atheist, it's the closest thing to a religious experience one could have. Floyd put so much into their live shows from sound (one of the earliest bands to bring their own sound system to arenas), the light shows (amazing use of all lighting including lasers and round screen projectors), Then additional props and effects ( oversized puppets and disco balls). I consider myself quite fortunate to grow up in time with Pink Floyd.
Gilmour is such a boss on guitar 😊.
First time I saw them was nineteen seventy four dark side of the moon tour
I love everything about Pink Floyd. The sound. The concerts so amazing visually. But I really love watching David play. As a very mediocre player seeing how he does things. He makes so many different sounds without a huge box of pedals. His use of the Tremolo bar. And in this video, at 11:15 he does a small single tap with his right hand middle finger on the fret. Classic David. Not flashy. Its minimalistic. He never overdoes anything.
Something they do and I've seen them four times in three different decades. 1974 Dark Side of the Moon tour 1977 In the flesh tour the tour for the song you just watched in 1988 and the 1994 Pulse concert and I've never seen a better concert put on than those four concerts. I've seen everybody from ACDC to led Zeppelin and in between alphabetically that you can think of and nobody does it Like Floyd. The thing they do I think that's different is they completely surround the audience with speakers on both sides and back and front and on top of you!! They basically create an atmosphere as though you're inside a giant set of headphones. They put an unbelievable amount of wattage through their sound system and only turn it up halfway for zero distortion!! There's never been anyone better!!!
I have seen Pink Floyd 3 times (with Roger Waters), Roger Waters (solo) and David Gilmour (solo). Each show was unbelievable. I have not seen this song performed.
I have. It was at a football stadium so it was hard to make out the band. So high up we could touch the pig. Sound was incredible
yesss 1994 at montreal
Try King Crimson Epitaph from the original album 'In the Court of the Crimson King.' Some remixes are not good. Greg Lake's vocals are sublime.
Pink Floyd in concert is the best. I saw them on the Division Bell tour where they played the entire Dark Side of the Moon back before the internet and you get there and go “Holy shit they’re going to play the entire thing!” Flying pigs, laser lights, crashing planes. Epic.
