Lyrics:
Funny how I find myself in love with you
If I could buy my reasoning I'd pay to lose
One half won't do
I've asked myself, how much do you
Commit yourself
It's my life, don't you forget
It's my life, it never ends (It never ends)
Funny how I blind myself, I never knew
If I was sometimes played upon, afraid to lose
I'd tell myself, what good you do
Convince myself
It's my life, don't you forget
It's my life, it never ends (It never ends)
I've asked myself, how much do you
Commit yourself?
It's my life, don't you forget
Caught in the crowd, it never ends
It's my life, don't you forget
Caught in the crowd, it never ends
It's my life, don't you forget
Caught in the crowd, it never ends

RIP Eric Vaughn Allen. 11/19/97 to 02/13/24. He loved this song. ❤️ He took his own life, and it has devastated me and his family. He loved going to Walmart and going out to eat. But, he was just as happy staying at home and eating noodles. His departure was sudden. But, he'd been battling depression for years and suicidal ideation. We feel as if we've failed him. He loved animals. Especially cats. He loved his computer. I write this in memory of him. On his favorite song. I will always love and miss him. I can't wait to see him in heaven. He's finally at peace, with his kitties that passed away.
Que triste, pero que bueno está canción Era para está persona un himno. Ánimo y está canción , no trae muchos recuerdos .
Korin. Sweet memories of your beloved friend. To whom you loved and miss dearly. Please understand the depression your friend suffered was something that he wasn't responsible for. Neither are you Korin or his family. It's a chemical . When not depressed their known as sensitive, insightful. The other side of the coin. Please forgive what your friend did. As it was also a selfish act. Leaving his friends and loved ones. To not only mourn. But to feel guilty? I doubt very much you did anything wrong. Honor your friend by moving on living your life. Being the best you can be! ❤❤❤❤

At the time of writing this... this song is almost 40yrs old and is as still fresh as the 1st time it hit the airwaves. A true definition of timeless.
I caught 20 seconds of this this song last week on the radio and was damned if I could recall who sang this. It sounded like Ah Ah and I searched every video for the last week. It mysteriously popped up on my feed yesterday. Completely forgot about this band. Mystery solved. I’m 56 so this was during my high school years…what memories.
Exactly 40 years old, great song but Today was better!!!!!!
This came out when I was in high school. Even now, I still think of this as an underrated classic. Talk Talk should've been a bigger back then. RIP Mark Hollis. Such great voice. One of the best & most distinct voices of the 80s. He's right up there with other awesome 80's singers from the U.K.: #SiouxsieSioux (#SiouxsieAndTheBanshees), #Bono (#U2), #DaveGahan (#DepecheMode), #RobertSmith (#TheCure), #IanCurtis (#JoyDivision), among others...
Time sure flew. I’ll be certain to listen to this classic on 13 January, which will be the 40th anniversary of its release. Probably more than once.

My absolute favorite song from the 1980's. Mark Hollis has a haunting voice like no other singer from that era. Talk Talk doesn't get the attention that The Cure, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, New Order and other British New Wave bands get, but they are absolutely just as legendary.
Those bands are not New wave bands.
I mean, only their first 2 albums were “new wave”. Their 3rd album was “art pop” and their last 2 were “post rock”. Their last 2 are some of the best albums ever made.

This song is pure art. The beautiful wildlife, the vocals, the whole meaning. RIP Mark Hollis.
I don't think people really get the "meaning" of this song so much as they could theorize in scope to what it's all about. The message is both complex and simple. Simple because it's about the general life of everything and it's right to exist, as well and contextually complex to the nature of humans and our place among life around us as being observers to it, alien almost. The juxtaposition and the subtle hints and nods are quite telling though. Happy to know it's the original and not that other one that was made later on. Almost reminds me of that song Life's What You Make It in a way.
Conceivably every participant life shown in this video is gone. Except the whales 🐋 with 70yr+ potential.

@@Marcel_Audubon sorry dude the term "sleep on it" means like people just dont pay attention to his vocals at all. They might hear the song but they dont listen to his vocal range or ability. Its English language but not proper English.
What a powerful fucking song. The way the verse and chorus contrast with each other, and that single chord at the end of the last line of the verse that bridges the two and signals a change of tone... just phenomenal songwriting. Every aspiring writer of pop songs should take note of what this song does right.
Broble you said it better than anyone- this is truly an incredible song
Yeah, that's just what I was thinking.
Nicely said. The reason why this chord has such a big emotional impact is because it performs a modulation (from Eb to E). Modulations are such a fundamental composition technique, it is hard to understand why they almost completely disappeared in today's popular music. But who knows, judging by the success of "Leave the Door Open", maybe there will be a comeback.
I love all that too but, really I'm all about the lyrics I was a moody teenager & now I'm a moody adult, everything that ever hit me still does
So true !!! I would have loved to hear Mark Hollis explained how he wrote this masterpiece. Sounds like everything is turning around the bass line (and what a bass line...it fills you up with all emotions you can feel) so I presume bass line was the spine of the melody

I remember when this song first came out. I have always loved this song.
Me too, I was 21 :)
I was married but still had my music 🥲🥲🥲🥲🍀
When I was little, my parents would play this song in the car *ALL* the time. So much in fact, I had the lyrics for this song memorized by the age of 3. Everything about it makes me feel like it's the most 80s song I've ever heard, and takes me back. This song always has a true place in my heart and is one of the greatest masterpieces ever written. Godspeed, Mark Hollis. We miss you.
🤝👍
Same here bud.
Same, such a loss. 🎤
Thanks for sharing your feelings about this New Wave wonder.
You remeber the exact lyrics for this song when you were only 3 years old?😂 I don't believe it, it's too ridiculous to believe.😂
This should be re-released for its 40th year hopefully going to number 1 and in memory of Mark Hollis.
How good would that be
No ha habido una voz como la tuya....,Mark.Aunque ya no estés fisicamente entre nosotros habitas en nuestros corazones....Gracias por vuestra música impedecedera,Talk Talk.

I still get those same chills from the first time I heard this song
Most of us spend our lives looking, searching for something to make life "better" if you cant be happy with nothing youre missing the point, love yourself, and be present in the moment, it's your life, you only get one, so live it to the fullest, make mistakes, take chances, learn to enjoy the experience and everything in it. Love fiercely, it's free, and you can never have or give enough.
I dedicate this song to Eddie Davis Jr....This was our song, we even made up our own dance for it...R.I.P.😢😢😢

December 2022... this song rocks, and so does the album of the same title! If you've never heard the "It's My Life" album in its entirety, do yourself a favor and check it out! I didn't have the chance til it was out 6 years, and I've loved it ever since! Timeless music and lyrics, beautifully crafted by the amazingly talented Mark Hollis...R.I.P., your incredible voice and wonderful melodies will live on forever!!! ❤️
Yes, me friend of miusic. Thank you
2023 and counting
So true. Rest In Peace, Mark 🙏
And every other album by Talk Talk - Colour Of Spring, Spirit Of Eden, Laughing Stock. Perhaps with the caveat that with the last two you need to be in a quiet place (literally and in state-of-mind) and with a good, clear audio system.
If you was an 80s teen just know we had it all 🥹🥂🥰
At 76 I still play this and will continue to play it till my life is no more."Bin my life"🦊
One of the best songs of all time hands down 🔥🔥
Omg, this song literally puts me in tears, even though I'm not remotely close to being born in the 80s, I'm fifteen. This song is just so beautiful, It shows you how amazing mother nature Is.
It’s a masterpiece pop song. Highly recommend you to check out the entirety of Talk Talk’s discography.. all of their albums are sublime, the last two LP’s are absolutely spellbinding.
