  • IM SO HAPPY YOURE TALKING ABOUT LOTR! I also grew up loving LOTR and The Hobbit! I’m going to a renaissance festival in June and I actually made my outfit based off of a female version of Frodo! Love the video so much!

  • The thing about Fantasy (fiction really) is that you can take inspiration from other peices of fiction and the real world around you to create your own world with its own rules, magick, etc. It's very easy to make surface level comparisons with two fantasy works (Harry Potter and LOTR) like with the orphan raised by an uncle or giant spider creature, but at the end of the day, its just surface level comparisons and don't dive deeper than that because the structures of those two worlds function wildly differently from one another (HP wizardry magick function differently than LOTR magick, etc). Or something like that, Idk 😅

  • Every author that writes fantasy has taken inspiration from LOTR, 100%, as they should. 💜

  • i like harry potter but not lord of the rings- so im definitely biased. But even I can tell both have vastly different worlds/plots. Yes some characters may be similar but they are still different. Em, maybe you have influneced me to watch the ring movies lol! Great video!

  • I never considered comparing these to and I suppose similarities could be made and I love both stories however.... might I add another Chronicle story that I feel Harry Potter was inspired by because the phrase 'ripped off' is such an unpleasant way to say it... the Narnia Chronicles. In the Narnia Chronicles you start off with the magician and The Magician's Nephew... you travel to an In Between Worlds where you travel through puddles to other worlds not unlike flu flame travel, during our time in Narnia we end up following for some time the four Kings and Queens of Narnia: Peter the true Susan the Beautiful Edmond the just Lucy the kind All four of these Thrones almost directly depict that of the four houses of Hogwarts, I cannot remember aside from the descriptions of the thrones and crowns what the children were wearing in the story book version themselves however on-screen depictions have always kept Peter red and gold, Edmond silver and green, Susan silver and blue and Lucy in Earth Tone colors. They almost look like an identical representation of a childlike version of the four houses. In the Prince Caspian story all four of them are pulled backwards through a train station wall not unlike Harry Potter's iconic train platform 9 and 3/4 The magical beasts are easy it's anywhere from centaurs and minotaurs to Phoenix and so much more both Worlds offer so much in terms of mythical creatures. The Great Hall overlooking a sea is not unlike how the Great Hall is set overlooking the lake at Hogwarts... Aslan in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe sacrifices himself for Edmond to save his soul, Edmond at the time is seen as a traitor. Dumbledore does the same thing when he asks Snape to kill him, he tells him that Draco soul is still intact and it can be saved... Draco at the time is seen as a traitor inside the school. The only difference is when Aslan becomes a martyr for Narnia to go to war not unlike how Hogwarts started fighting back a salon gets resurrected because he was sacrificed on the stone table... however it's as deeper understanding of magic that allows this. I point this out because Aslan and Dumbledore both had a very deep understanding of magic and I say it after watching the final Fantastic Beasts movie we see him use the same device created to take and restore light to travel through a puddle.... this is so iconic in a moment because you have to go all the way back to the beginning of Narnia and realize this is how it all started in that storyline was traveling through puddles. I merely bring this up not because the traveling through puddles was the same but that it shows Dumbledore had a deeper understanding of magic and the charms that he was using then the regular average everyday wizard would.... case in point how long did Ron Weasley carry that thing around and Hermione never recognized it could be used for other uses. Another thing that's not exactly the same but it's a very strong overall tone is that when Christmas happens in Harry Potter it's a small moment of reprieve from what is going on, while we only ever get this once in Narnia it couldn't come at a more needed time and it hadn't been Christmas there in over 300 years so the fact that Santa showed up was a very big deal. The items given to the children do make reappearances and times of great need, you are always reminded of the feeling that they had when Santa showed up when they find these relics again you get those nostalgic memory revisits that are very similar to Harry Potter. One of these relics happens to be Peter Sword which isn't so far from The Sword of Gryffindor all of the items Santa brought to the children were imbued with magical powers... we honestly don't know how powerful Peter Sword really was... or what it was made out of just that it was a gift from Santa so it was clearly made with Elf Magic and in his shop. Again Christmas wasn't represented the same but it was a major underlying theme in both stories. I'm sure if I went back and combed through both of them book for book I could find several more and somebody could argue I'm only finding them because I'm looking for them. . . However these are the ones that off the top of my head I can flat out say when I see it or read it, my mind says hey this is kind of like that, these are like the basic overall pieces that I can tell you are not only highly similar but major turning points in both stories. I want to repeat my statement I do not like to think that she ripped her story off of another story; I just like to think that she read the same story as me and this is what it inspired. Which we should all just be so lucky if we ever get inspired enough to create an entire world that fans fall in love with!!! ❤ stay awesome ❤
