MACHEN and TUN are NOT the Same in German

To make - machen, to do - tun, unfortunately it is not that simple. Learn what the differences are between those two common verbs in the German language, and learn some new expressions that you can use when speaking German with other people.

  • Another excellent explanation! A clarification please. At 8:15 it sounds like you say, “Er tut, als ob…“ but what is written is, „Er tut, also ob…“ Which is correct? I think it’s, “Er tut, als ob…“ Thanks!

    • Thanks for pointing this out! That's a typo on my board - I cannot fix it with the tools here on YT without deleting the video. You're right, of course, it has to be "als ob".

  • The differences between "to do" and "to make" in English are more meaningful and definable. In German, we're better off learning the ready-made constructs, as you hinted. It's a very good video! Thank you.

  • Danke sehr für das Video! Obwohl ich seit Jahren Deutsch lerne, war mir der Unterschied der beiden Verben nicht ganz klar. Aber jtzt keine Ursache mehr 😅 Übrigens hast du da alle Redemittel mit "Tun" erwähnt, die für Lernende von Bedeutung sind. Mittlerweile spreche ich gerne deine Aussprache nach , um meine zu verbessern.:D
