Imagine being a young child watching this from the beginning, really believing that a bunch of random people just magically started singing together.
Wilfred "I Tapped Dat Ass" Kensington I don’t know why that made me laugh so much
I didnt think it was coordinated. Thought it was just random musicians seeing it and bringing their instruments to join in, but I guess I was way, way too ingenious. Imagine something that beautiful happening in today’s society
@@sportsfails4998 You thought that amount of musicians all decided to walk around with their instruments that day and happened to be in the same place at the same time while also knowing the same song was just up to coincidence? No matter what society your in this kind of amazing performance does not happen by chance.
@@sportsfails4998 yeah I'll be honest you might just be an idiot
That shows you what happens if a little girl puts money in a hat.
That conductor is a certified dark art teacher, look how fluid she cast spells on the muggles. Splendid.
Honestly, best comment
@@Lydia-zk5ns agree
Lol 😂😂😂😂
I hate conductors. They add very little during the final performance, and they still act like people are applauding just them.
XD
No matter how many times I see this, the moment the choir joins the orchestra always, always brings tears to my eyes
Goose bumps. And I've sung in choirs all my life.
Gby
Yeah, me too, this is what the people need, joy and freedom of acting outside whatever they want.
Wunderschöner Götterfunken, Tochter von Elysium !
More than this greatest symphony, the way this unfolded was so fulfilling! Good performers good audience. Planned or unplanned - its unexpected!
There are still places where random people can get together and fill strangers hearts with joy, no matter the race religion or caste. Hats off to these people. You made me cry
@Betta Rose This is the beauty of mankind! Beethoven has been an Humanist!
Очень хорошл
me too
I am tired of this crap: just show who are, and play Beethoven. If you have to pretend you are amateurs to gain applause, you are not that good.

To think, Beethoven was deaf when this masterpiece was composed yet millions can enjoy for eternity!!!
To think: Beethoven had nothing to do with this masterpiece!
The fact that he was deaf, to me proves the existence of God.
@@uccn I'm sorry, wth are you talking about?
@@jeffrandall4729 lmao
@@susanhenning6582 this is an insult to Beethoven’s eternal Ode to joy.
And then there's that moment when you realize that the old busker isn't just some old dude playing for loose change ... that you've stumbled on a special moment in a special place. And, for that moment, you are special, too.
W Canaday so true,so true
Did you ever see the video of the one -- I think it was Cologne, but I'm not sure -- where the cello player just sits there until a little girl puts a coin in his cup, and that starts the whole thing, like one vast mechanical toy? Charming.
manthasagittarius1 yep I have seen it. it's beautiful.
It could be the one from Sababell you are thinking off. It is very good

Now THIS is what every city needs on a daily basis right now - the world needs classical music more than ever. It is a universal language which has the ability to move us all. And the Beethoven Op. 125 just so happens to prove it perfectly!
I don’t know why these types of videos bring tears to my eyes, something about it not being in a stuffy opera house & al the commoners showing such appreciation for something so beautiful…I’m not crying, you’re crying! 😭😭😭
It's beautiful to see the classical music being brought to the masses. I could watch and listen to this for hours.
@LibertyCast Will there be cake?
I have to "Me too" your comment. Why would a 74 year old man get all verklempt when he hears Ravel's Bolero (which I usually don't care for) done by a flash mob. But I do. Haven't seen this one before. From the number of people already at the rail when the first guy plays, I think this isn't a total surprise. But that's cool. Even better for those who aren't in on the deal from the first! I especially love to see the little kids totally awed. Maybe some day... some day...
Me too. I am crying as well. I think it is something about sudden awakening to beautiful moments in an ordinary life from the harmony of ordinary looking people with splendid gifts and there is something holy in Bethoven's music as well. We are all ordinary looking people but with beautiful gifts and living in the ordinary looking but miraculous moments all the time. Art has power to make us waken to this true ;-)
I love crying watching these...pure joy..the best kind of tears
This hymn touches my soul, everytime I hear it .Now, to hear a polish orchestra singing it in german, "alle Menschen werden Brüder" means all mankind become brothers, I wish it becomes true some day
I do as well..
That would take a lot of incest
@excavtrooper It's actually because replies to comments aren't shown in the regular thread, and only 00.048 percent of users make it past the regular comment section, so the math works out. In addition, I only made a joke.
Condescending jerk
Agree
I hope these performers, and all participants in other flash mobs, realize how uplifting their performances are.
The fourth movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony is a popular piece. This makes it so much more amazing how Pauley is able to work out nuances that one doesn't hear in the performances of other orchestras. In the difficult acoustics of a shopping mall, she brings out highlights in the piece that others often miss. Being able to direct the concert without its details floating away in the nooks and crannies of the mall, Marlene Pauley makes her mark as a world-class conductor. Bravo !
Brava
Totally impressed with her fun and enjoyment as well.
Marlene Paulette is part of this beautiful piece ,she is one with the music

The most powerful emotional sound you'll ever hear, classical music transcends race, creed, status, wealth, greed, hate and replaces them with wisdom .........just awe inspiring
wisdom and passion :D
Beethoven! real music!
no whites made the music don't disrespect them
@Betta Rose invented by whites of course
thank you ludwig. your music will last for eternity.
so will those words of friedrich
Michels will not last 10 years more
Beethoven's music shall never be forgotten!

Klassik Natur And thank you for all the world masterpieces from those you named, PLUS all the ones in progress by the new artists, painters, sculptors, writers and musicians your country is developing right now!
Throughout my time on Earth, 44 years, I have listened to everything from Country to hip hop. I keep coming back to the classics. I have gone through a lot of musical tastes. Classical is one that I never get old or boring. I have heard several of them 100's of times. Still nothing comes close to complexity, and yet the simplicity of Classical music.
Jonathan said it splendidly! Nothing like classical music to enjoy hearing flash mob or not. Thanks for delightful presentation for our listening pleasure!
Thanks for the splendid presentations!
even the Gen zzz kid are starting to recognize delightful classic pieces and bands of teh 60~~70`..where have they been ?
To think this masterpiece, heard countless times in all corners of our planet was only heard by the composer in his mind. A man agonizing with the loss of his hearing but instead of wallowing in sadness, he created the ode to joy.
We need more of this, every last person on this planet needs this.
Ode to joy is one of the best pieces of music ever created😭🤌
It is!
Remember: Ludwig van Beethoven wrote the music when he was already deaf. The lyrics were written by Friedrich Schiller (peom: "Ode an die Freude"; Engl.: "Ode to Joy").
I love how the crowd is balanced with the young and the old that it goes to show that whereever you in the walk of life you just can't help but appreciate good classical music
One can go on forever with favorable comments on forever classical music. Well done! Bringing pleasure to all!!
Well done
i don't know why i am crying ! It started with vodafone and now, i cant stop the tears from filling my eyes. This is really beautiful. All this people that put this together to do something wonderful, I love you all
Classical music is dying brother.. Thats why?
You cry because you are happy. And, that is a good thing!
@@cloudridermrbliss7085 I think every major city in the world has a symphony orchestra.

same as me! WOW
This will never get old. It will still be played until the end of time. One of the greatest music of all time!
A masterpiece of mankind. I wonder, if Beethoven knew, how much joy this "Ode to Joy" will bring to the people of all times.
To be so lucky to randomly be a part of something like this. Nothing mainstream today would get this many people to stop what they were doing and enjoy the moment.
Beethoven was a genius and so was this performance
israel clarke Yes he was divinely inspired. I once sat next to a Hollywood music composer on a plane and he showed me how every major music composition in all movies is copied from sections from these divine compositions from the famous composers from the Middle Ages
Yes, a true genius in every sense of the word
All the Classical musicians were geniuses
@@almeggs3247 Hey al meggs. Just for you to know: Ludwig van Beethoven was not part of the Middle Ages. The Middle Age range from the late antiquity 500/600 to about 1500. Beethoven is counted to the Early Modern Age (Frühe Neuzeit in German).
And he paid for it dearly with a tormented life. So many times, the two go together. The torment fed his genius, actually.
Why do I always have to cry when I listen to Ode to joy?
Same here
You don't. Its optional.
Cause they cut the onions brother
yess same here :)
Because it's glorious!
This is so awesome that I revisit it all the time and end up playing it over and over again. I get really emotional watching this brilliant vlog. I wish rhis could happen all the time all over the world. Then maybe we could unite together and end wars and hunger and poverty and just live in peace.
Watching this in 2021 makes me very sad. Back when everything was normal, no social distancing, no facial coverings, no lockdowns. Normal times like this just have to be returned to us. It cannot and must not be allowed to become a memory.
Sadder still, is the fact that after all the rioting in Minneapolis I don’t think this mall survived.
3:06 when the man’s slack-jaw becomes a smile... all of these smiles this wonderful orchestra gave these people made me smile!! God certainly blessed us with music ❤️😊
You can't not smile when that bit of music starts. If I'd had a stroke I'd still be smiling.
We all forget how wonderous being alive is , then once in a great while , we all stop together , and celebrate it . One day this , and everything will all be gone , but for ONE short moment … WE were here .. and together .
There’s good & there is a thing called greatness this is greatness
Truly one of the most hauntingly beautiful melodies of all time...
Not many things give me goose bumps. This did as well as a big smile on my face.

Me as well
5:25 WOW One of the most emotional experiences I've had. I cannot believe how good the sound quality is.
Imagine the few spectators who were actually just passing through. Such a gift. Very Nice. I love.
Beethoven's Ninth is always about JOY ! No matter what language the Chorale sings it in. It is truly a work of Beautiful Noise...
To see a crowd and little children really enjoying the Ode to Joy look out for the Sabadell, Spain earlier version. No bored adults on any escalators to be seen. Children climbing lamp posts and trees to see and joining in with waving arms. The pure joy of the Ode!
Watch that one often
Agreed. This was nice, but it really shows the difference between Europeans and Americans 😔
It's this sort of thing that brings people together & forget the crazy that is going on in the world
BRAVO❤❤! I've just watched this now, 2023. Hope the wonderful musicians are all well. Hope this video will remain so that more people can enjoy. Thank you so much.
Beethoven bringing smiles to faces after a few hundred years.
how can anybody with a heart actually not like this sort of vidio
Steven Madeley this is the best
spiritually bankrupt I would surmise, wonder full job
Steven Madeley That is beyond my comprehension. You would think that when they started to play, everyone would stop moving and enjoy the Free concert performance. Personally I love all music from barbershop quartet to rap, opera, and some forms of jazz. Plus, you do not often see a Woman conductor. Wonderful music.
Well, guess sometimes people are on a schedule and can't stop.
and these people are so busy that they can't enjoy a piece of good music and art i feel sorry for them music is for the soul and for the heart if you don't have time for anything like this then you don't have a life
I am from India, and sorry, don't know to play any instrument! But that doesn't stop me enjoying every type music. This music, in particular, gives goosebumps and turn my eyes moist. It may be the song of EU, but it's the song of the world, the music of brotherhood and the tune of positivity. God bless Beethoven for such an awesome composition!
Gott Segne dich für deine Wahren Worte..
Your tongue is an instrument too, and your words do resonate resoundingly clear, keep playing, i will too, mayhap one day we will meet and play together; for now i bid you good days and much joy, lets spread it and infect the world :)
the composition is from beethoven... the poem is from friedrich schiller... cmiiw...
*It may be the song appropriated by the EU. Fixed that for you... never has a bunch of gangsters had a more beautiful theme tune.
Same feelings here...
"Alle Menschen werden Freunde" what a beatiful dream....
Schiller was a bit more old-fashioned...he said "brothers", not "friends" ;)
flash mobs show just how INGRAINED into all humans a love of music is, countless people all stopped whatever they were doing entirely as the music began, and, all, for even a small moment, truly just appreciated the beauty of sound, with nothing else to taint it, the world needs to learn that despite all differences we have that will ALWAYS divide us, there are core ideas, passions and loves (like music) that are universal, and just like with music, an individual can be strong and moving, but when more come together and play their parts, the strength grows with it, and the whole becomes better off because of it
Beautiful
I'd stop anytime for such a moment as this! Lots'a love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from the Philippines!
I swear, the very moment the bassoon came in, my eyes started watering
Yeah, bassoons have that effect on people.
There is something in music that just makes you cry. So powerful. Seeing different people from different walks of life, colors, races come together and create a beautiful piece of music makes one wonder, maybe we should use music when negotiating policies between countries.
need more of these impromtue concerts, sorry about the spelling mistake.
maybe that's why this piece of music is the european union anthem, & maybe our politicians here should remember why it is
I understand
Sasha L - What a beautiful sentiment! From the 'T' in There to the 's' in countries, WELL SAID! If I could give you more thumbs up, I would!
Indeed
You got the applause you deserved. Wonderful.
Beautiful!!! Beethoven would be proud. Much love from Germany...
Love the great culture that gave the world this masterpiece
Thank you forever Beethoven, Timeless Music!

Why am i crying every time i hear this song 😭😭😭 it so beautiful 💛
Because they're reciting it by there heart&soul.
You are not alone, me too.
Yes - I have been in two different choirs that have performed this with a full orchestra. Having a working knowledge of German helps. What a powerful piece this is. Wunderschon !
Marlene Pauley, congratulations! This conductor taught clarinet lessons to me in college and was just as brilliant then. Such a wonderful person!

This is amaze performance, I don't see in Toronto Canada, I live in Toronto, I enjoy Symphony Orchestra, classical music, Opera too. Thank you so much sharing this with me.
Imagine watching orchestra performance for free, that absolutely will be the wholesome experience
It's the European Anthem. No matter in wich form I hear it, it always breaks me down to crying. It is a piece of music, wich strikes you right in the heart, rips your soul and takes you to something greater, as if he had known this, Genious. Thanks Ludwig!
Beethoven's Ninth. Finished when he was entirely deaf and could not enjoy the performance nor the applause afterword.
Too bad he couldn’t hear
@@hengineer Everyone can enjoy music, even deaf people. He could feel the vibrations and emotions. There are a lot of inclusion seminars for deaf people to experience music.
This is more than a national anthem or a continental (European) anthem. This is the anthem for the Entire Planet: Alle Meschen werden brüdern, All Humans will become siblings. Not just German humans ie European humans. ALL HUMANS. unity
Well presented and well received!
Oh . My . God . Simply stunning . Crying like a baby . Humanity will always prevail in tough times with people like this . I love them all and have never met them .
Would be nice if all dictators understand that
What a wonderful way to introduce classical music to those who have perhaps never considered listening to it before.
Easter, 2021 Once upon a time, long ago, people could gather together to play music and sing with no masks on their faces. Remember and never forget. Someday we may be able to do this again.
Most enthusiastic conductor I have ever seen. Go you beautiful thing you.
Just imagined I'm one of those lucky audience out there, listening to live performance of one of the greatest compositions in the history of mankind.. my eyes were filled with tears
I was crying and laughing with joy - such joy needed in the world today. Lord we adore You! ❤️
How beautiful...it's like a huge prayer!! Thank you thank you thank you
That is my favorite piece of music, bar none. When the choir began, I burst into tears. I used to have every piece of music Beethoven wrote, all done by the Berlin Symphony and lost them all in a move. Thank you for this. I hadn't heard it in far too long.
Not sure if this helps but if anybody got them they sure will enjoy it
Absolutely amazing, from iran with love
Alle Menschen werden Brüder...can we pull it off...Heaven is watching...
How wonderful that the music of the great Beethoven is reaching masses half the world away from where started ... the magic of the music when the rousing choir comes in reaches to the core of everyone who hears it🎶💖🎶
Yes !!!! This is the culture the world needs !!!
I am literally crying. This is beautiful, beyond words.
sitting here watching this with tears rolling down my cheeks and I dont care...beautiful.
Look at how happy the audience are. This warms my heart❤
I'm a (middlin') cellist, but 2 things in this that I listen to are the bassoon, and the timpani lines. In this performance, when the choir joined, I involuntarily burst into tears. Haven't had that happen in a long while. Well done! Very well done!
This was a particularly graceful presentation.
What beautiful music! This kind of music will stand for all time to come! I can't believe 1.3K people dislike this fantastic performance. It's a shame! I wonder if they hate themselves.
when they all came out and joined in, I couldn't hold back my tears.... thinking what happened to us a human race ...has truly broken my heart.... this is a master piece of pure joy! Learn to love and be loved....
Excellent 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Performance. I'm from India 🇮🇳.
Every time I see this video I get tears in my eyes for how beautiful the music was. Wish I had been there in person 🥲
"All men will be brothers". Nicely done and the message is extremely timely.
My old home town of 86 years ago. A good place.
And it looks like the entire orchestra was born before you left.
And the orchestra leader...🙄 Ain't she the coolest ! 👍
In dieser schweren Zeit verbindet uns Musik noch mehr und lässt wieder Freude und Licht in unser Herz das so voll Angst ist ❤️🍀🌞😊

That director’s a little more rock n roll than others. Classical music reminds me there is more out there than the grind.
Just one of these days, just one...I hope to bear witness to such great and wonderful people who not only love music but share their love....Bravo....Bravo...Bravo...
I come here time to time to recharge my mood against depression amid pandemic where i lost my several relative.I feel like I cant bear anymore.I am mentally broke.(India)
So sorry to hear that :(( Stay strong and stay safe! Kind wishes to you from Beethoven's country!
Please hang in there, from SA, Tx.
Extremely sorry to hear that :( Also mental breakdown is very bad, try consulting a doctor.
Being able to see and hear this beautiful music is a peaceful few moments to relax and enjoy with my conure parrot Jojo standing on my thumb watching too...getting mooches too.
The end had me a bit teary. I love how they finished so strong, it was INCREDIBLE!!!!!
Oh and slash, watching the close-ups of people’s reactions touched my heart, ESPECIALLY the one’s performing and by far the best was the ginger hanging up the phone! To me, that indirectly shows how connected we are to technology and to see someone get off their phone for this....is so pleasing to me. Just had to throw that out their. Bless them all☺️
Beethoven’s 9th is my fav!!
I love music man... things like this made me cry.
it's sad that now a days people can't seem to take a few minutes and listen to some beautiful music
I have teary eyes when music start and when Edina Chorale start singing gosh I got goosebumps... They just fluently delivered it powerful with Justice to the great composer
The 9th always hits the spot.. I love this
The woman wiping tears away at the end sums it up best.
I can't believe I was brought to tears by this. It was very moving.
I love this! Too many people on the go to enjoy this moment.
Music is the only universal language and I love everything about this. I get goosebumps when I am blessed with the opportunity to experience this in person. I have never felt such joy in my life until and since I was blessed/privileged to perform on stage with fellow musicians. Completely a surreal experience.
Unutterably fantastic. If you're not smiling or uplifted by that check your pulse.
I look forward to the day when all the people will live in peace and listen to music together. ☺
