The Cockatiel habitat is explored to make this video. These birds are crested like a cockatoo but have the slender lines of a long tailed parrot and fly like a swift parrot. A previous video on cockatiels is now ipdated to include more flock behaviour

so cute cockatiels!
its so weird seeing so many cockatiels at the same time omg
Awesome watching these vids of cockatiels in the wild with my nearly 31 year old 'tiel on my shoulder. He's so spoiled I just can't imagine him out there in the wild.
whaaaat 31 years old???
@@decayedcake1245 Yup, my family got little Oliver in Jan/Feb of 1991, when I was 12. He was hatched in Nov of 1990. My mom always regretted not finding out his actual hatch date. Anyway, my mom used to joke that if anything happened to her (my dad passed in '96), that I'd need to take care of him(my brother has a kid and cats). I thought, "yeah right". But, almost 4 years ago she passed from pancreatic cancer and I've been taking care of him since. He is utterly spoiled. Mostly eats human food, and is always out of his cage. He's always been an angry bird. I've always joked that anger has fueled him all these years. But, he is adorable. I've lived with my wife for 3 years now, and though he tolerates her, I and my brother are the only people he shows genuine affection towards. Other than some arthritis that he occasionally presents in his left foot he is otherwise healthy and active.
@@chadkochenower6142 wow oldest cockatiels I know were around 21 years old. isn't human food unhealthy for them, the oil and salt content especially? do you have an instagram for your bird?
They are really closely related to cocatoos do long lifespans are not surprising
My parent's cockatiel is 27 this year, born 3 years before me.
I love cockatiels so much, i have one female she is my best friend ,she understands me when am sick she comes and doesnt move from my shoulder , she likes to play à lot with toys esp wooden ones, she brings me so much happiness i dont put her in cage except night time ,
That's beautiful they are mates not pets
Yes, a good friend! And has the run of the house all day. We have made an aviary for nighttime or if we're going to be gone for several hours.
i have the same relationship with mine but she screams SO loud every time i leave the room. it’s so sad because i love her so much but i just cannot take her screaming…im thinking of giving her away
Baby cockatiels also sing when being fed. Its so cute
Aww! Cockatiels are so cute and adorable! I love cockatiels! They are one of my favorite parrots!
i have a baby wild color female cockatiel and it’s kinda strange seeing thousands of baby willows flying in the wild. she just flies to the top of my head and demands scritches! it is nice to see them in them in their natural habitat
Hi, I want to thank you so very much for this wonderful documentary; for having taken the time and trouble to bring it to us. I love cockatiels. Just lost my "cockatiel companion" of 17 years. She was a lutino female. And, again, I love them. Thanks again!!! ❤🦜❤
Watching this from the United States. :) Thank you so much for sharing this gorgeous footage of cockatiels in the wild! Given the extensive footage and very informative commentary, I would imagine it takes a lot of time to make these videos! I am the caretaker of three rescue cockatiels, and your videos are helping provide me with ideas for the dream aviary I am working on for them. It's not the same as flying free in the skies of Australia, but I still want to give them the best life possible. Thank you so, so much for this helpful and educational content!!!
Thank you
Thank you
Good on you anyone who takes care of abandoned or abused animals is a Saint in my eyes from the land of these beauties Australia.
Hi dear
Watching this whilst my lutino boy is preening himself on my shoulder. They are such sweet birds.
News report in Pennsylvania said a Cockatiel was found that had been missing 3 YEARS. Somehow this tropical bird survived 3 harsh winters in the north United States. I didn’t think they could survive cold weather like that but apparently they can. Makes me wonder if it migrated south by itself and flew back ?? Birds have a amazing way of doing that
Wow!
Being birds of the desert and semi-arid regions of Australia, rather than truly 'tropical' birds, they are adapted to cope with both very hot days and very cold nights with freezing temperatures where they are exposed to the elements...... not as cold as the Northern US, but they can certainly tolerate colder conditions than the true tropical parrots.
Wonderful video. Lovely birds. I have one male, 10 years old. Greetings from Serbia.
Greetings to u Serbia from Australia where a lot of your countrymen actually live
Pozdrav
I want to give scritches to all of them!!
Me to I love the little boofheads

Thank you so much for posting this video. There are not many documentaries about cockatiels online. I’ve kept 14 tiels for some time and it is a wonderful experience to see them happily living in the wild.
Nature... Wild life 💞... God's beautiful Creature in the world.. 💕 Wild grey cockatiels .. 🐦

Yay! So excited to watch this, I love cockatiels!😍
Thanks for this video. I love see wild cockatiels. Regards from Spain..
It's definitely the best way to see them don't U think my Spanish compadre
This is really cool. I've seen these birds as a pets in pet store 🙂
It's bad that a bird can drive yet me with thumbs and all can't.
@@seanbayley7452 What?
And at the end of the day they are just evolved dinosaurs. Love them! ❤
As an avid bird watcher here in Queensland and now having found your superb channel I hang off every word and description. Surely your videos must be ranked as the best in footage and commentary. I will now make sure to watch all of your videos where I continue to glean more of the finer points of each species. Highly commended and thanks for your work.
Hello from California, great video. It's nice to see birds we Americans only see in cages living in the wild in their native range doing their native things.
Thank you for this beautiful video!
Your videos are awesome! Thank You
Great channel! Subscribed! Cockatiels belong to the cockatoo family which is part of the parrot family. Hybrids occur when species are very much related; hybrids between Cockatiel and Galah called Galatiel do exist. Parrots all have the combination of hooked bills and zygodactylus feet (two toes facing front and two toes facing back).
yes, I've seen those hybrids, they are really nice. I wonder if the hybrids are fertile....
Thank you for this beautiful documentary
UNDERRATED CHANNEL! Amazing documentary!
Nice video. Thank you for making it.
Thankyou for this wonderful video sending you and your family love and light always 💖💫
Another great video, love your work :)
I love my cockatiel 🥰🥰🥰
its nice seeing them in wild where they belong instead of seeing them in homes as pet.
Thaks for the comment.
It's nice seeing them home as a pet and not in the wild being chased by predators.
Great video and such a beautiful piece of the scriptures in the beginning! Kind regards from Brazil!
so lovely, Thank You
Absolutely great info. Thank you. We are considering adopting a cocktail.
Me and my cocktail watch together this video from india.....
They are great mates aren't they
Thank you for your fantastic knowledgeable commentary of these beautiful birds. If you are ever on the Gold Coast looking for birds I would love to come along with you and view any breed of any bird as they are all just so special. Thanks again, Dan
Thanks for your documentary
Thank you for your work. Great movie. My Tiel loved to watch with me this and listen to the sounds. Much appriciate it mate.

Now I feel like travelling to Australia.
Cone on down always happy for bird lovers to visit and U would be impressed with the variety of parrots I bet.

Thanks sir,we really need to this video.
Awesome sauce from l.a california. Nice. Thank
So cute
awww so cute
We seen wild cockatiels in Rockhampton QLD in the park just behind the Holden dealership. So that may be interesting for you since you mention they are not found on the east coast. 😉
So beautiful ❤❤❤❤
😄
Awesome
This is great there's not much out there on cockatiels. I have two boys and this answers some questions I had about them. Where was this filmed??
I think australia
Yes it's Australia they are native to here not to be found wild anywhere else in the world though U do hear of wild feral populations in some other places.
Its cute❤
Beautiful
Comments appreciated.
Cockatoos are parrots as well. Parrot is the order and cockatoo is the family. It is divided further into cockatiels, galahs and sulphur crested cockatoos.
More content like this pls
Salam kenal saya dari Indonesia, saya mengagumi video ini, keren banget, semoga semakin maju channelnya

is there any subtitle of the video, quite difficult to learn
My bird is a cockatiel and they just look the same as these cockatiels!
I wish i live here forever

Super

We are really lucky here not only do we get big flocks of cockatiels but many other parrot species, I see huge flocks of sulfer crested cocatoos in the local park every day and get visits on my back porch of lorakeets and cocatoos in the morning it really is paradise if U are a bird lover.

How can you tell if a cocktiel is a male or female?? Please tell me!
3:14 the bird in the middle of the flock is different colour.
Are they mainly common around western Australia..
Yes also WA big flocks more to the North
i have a lutino and i wondered him at the wild life but i didnt fine any documentary
A breeders delight. Great pet.
งดงาม🙂
Heaven?
What is wild type cockatiel size...can anyone advised....it look bigger
30-33cm.
The mother tiel has freckle spots on her chest. So cute.. But makes me wonder , was it really a wild or former pet cockatiel, or a really tame one that they put in the video? Since the spot gene is usually associated with tiels that are split to whiteface or whiteface.
Thanks for the comment. All wild. Sometimes the bars do look spotty. That was in far west Queensland escapees are usually in urban areas.
Beautiful! Cockatiels are the best, very special little people! I love seeing them in the wild like this, but I'm in Ireland, so I can only watch and admire over videos like these, thank you!
They're not little, cockatiels are medium sized parrots, budgies are little
@@levent.a.7280 I said little people, actually meant it in a more endearing than size related way. However, I've never seen a cockatiel being described as medium sized parrot. Wikipedia says it's a small parrot, the aviator harness size for a cockatiel is "petite"... I think it's not wrong to call a cockatiel "little". ;-)
@@kallistikobold9182 i dunno how you perceive littleness, but for me only budgies, zebra finches, house sparrows , hummingbirds are little, you could say cockatiels are slender but their wingspan and body size are as big as those of dove's, so when cockatiels fly they don't constantly flap the wings they glide like big birds do, which is something little birds can't do while flying
@@levent.a.7280 Slender isn't a size, it's more of a shape word. I'd say budgies are very little, and finches are tiny. Lol. They are all smol birbs. :-D
❤جميل يشبه طير حب الى خد
I wonder if I was to free my birds here would they survive? I’m sure they would ❤such beautiful birdies 😭❤️
no they wont, they rely on humans in captivity and wont know how to do what they do in the wild
I love my babies ❤️ Michael and David they had to have normal people names cos they think they are people

Do u have winter video how they are living in winter I wanna see
A large content of that video was shot June/July.
They live in the hasher parts I think so it don't get really cold not like European winters.
What are the names of the plants they like the most?
Grass seed
@@plumesofoz I mean like species, I would like try and grow some for my bird at home
@@plumesofoz I'm from North America so I don't have them. I would like to offer my bird some of the things things they eat in the wild
Look up wild Australian grass seeds and I think U will get an idea what they like
Look up wild Australian grass seeds and I think U will get an idea what they like
In their own genus.... yes. But definitely cockatoos; since we now know they can breed with galahs.
"No Cockatoos have white shoulders." Really? I'm pretty sure that all of the white species of Cockatoos have not only white legs, wings, chests, backs and heads but also White Shoulders.
I'm from Australia :)
A medal 🥇 for u for being from the best country in the world and I'm not biased because I'm Aussie myself I'm just giving out medals to the luckiest people alive
i watched this with my tiels and safe to say the were a little confused
I hope my cocktiel which flew out must be surviving like these birds😭😭
Where in the world are U? If U r in a relatively warm environment your little m8 has a great chance at surviving.
Maybe someone found it and is taking care of your cockatiel. Mine flew to my house and we are taking care of it for years since we were never able to find the owner.
@@andreasvmmclx9347 me too. we found a cockatiel walking on the street and eating bread crumbles. my dad caught her, we searched for the owner but couldnt find. and limon (lemon) became our pet. she's with us for 4 years. greetings from turkey :)
Hawk food my friend. Sorry to say. Nature is a beast
Are there color mutations of these in the wild?
No the wild birds have minimal colour variation from what is shown in the video, The same for the budgie. In the wild it is only green and yellow
@@plumesofoz I have this theory that they prefer to perch on dead branches as these have similar shades of color to their plumage, thus serving as a form of camouflage.
I wonder how they would react to the mutation colors ???
Only Leucistic very rare I have only seen one
Definitely chickems.
I have two cockatiels as pet
Mine has yellow hair on top. Why are these grey hair on top
Some cokatiels are diffrent
Thats either a pied, cinammon or lutino.
This is their natural colours in the wild different colours are from being bred that way like budgies they are only green in the wild no other colours survive long enough to pass on their genes
Where is this on Australia please?
You can find these guys anywhere here in Australia where it's fairly arid even semi desert, they thrive in areas where most other birds avoid due to lack of water but these guys are real survivors.
@Sean Bayley but surely they concentrated in a particular area? I am hoping to book a trip from the UK so have limited time. Thanks for the reply
@@LisiJanVentures I couldn't tell you a particular area sorry m8, I'm sure there are areas though where U will be guaranteed to see them, I just am not aware of such places, I see them when driving to my mates place from where I am on the Gold coast to his place up in Theodore which is a small country town, I tend to see them just hanging around the roadside foraging.
Mostly filmed SW Qld and Western NSW
I only saw a wild cockatiel once in 2 years in Australia, so they can't be common.
Common in the drylands.
They live mainly in areas where people are scarce
My bird X 1000 = this video
Kiwi shit on my head while I was watching this and I had to wash the lock of hair with soap and water to get her mashed up shit out of my hair. Why are cockatiels such little shits lol.
Haha gotta love em still and I know why it's pissed at U it's wondering why U called it kiwi when it's an Aussie bird and not found in NZ haha really though it's a cool name anyways.
Cockatiels and galahs can hybridize
Yeah the galacock
Get me one cockatiel lol
