This video elaborates on and details the ENTIRE story of REVAN. From his start in life as a Jedi all the way to his parting and becoming one with the force. Revan was part of some of the largest moments in Star Wars Legends history, such as helping to defeat the Emperor and even guiding a new hero down the right path. Revan is Legend.

I’d say Revan is my favorite character because he was trained from birth as a Jedi & unlocked his true potential in the force. He is truly a Legend amongst both Jedi & Sith.
Lol. He’s Valkorian’s wasteman
I would say that Revan is my favorite character because no matter what he/she does he strives to attain his/her own freedom. Revans entire story is about man and his friends overcoming brainwashed over and over again and following their instincts.
He's my favorite because he dual wields one purple one red
He and Anakin are like bookends. They both destroyed their order for the most part when it refused to evolve.
You’re a fool! Ashoka is 1000 times better thus you are wrong. No need to respond with anything for I Have Spoken!
"There is no dark side nor a light side. there is only the force. i will do what i must to keep the balance. there is no good without evil, but evil must not be allowed to flourish. there is passion, yet peace, there is serenity yet emotion, there is chaos yet order"
The force shall guide me, but only guide.

I always thought the Jedi code was so amazing. But now I see the flaws in it. That both Jedi and Sith code hold flaws and yet wisdom.
I find it cool that if you add the word “when” to the start of each line of the code it gives it a whole new depth
I've been reflecting on the Jedi code for decades and I've come to believe their teachings concerning passion is flawed. Individuals must have controlled passion. That is passion, without hate, malice or anger. It must be passion for a purpose. To fuel one's talents, whatever they maybe, so as to aid either a person, people or a society. Without passion to fuel, one eventually stagnates and peters out until they are but a shell of what they were. Then the true danger arises for in that shell, bitterness, loathing and the dark side can gain momentum until the promising individual who lacked passion is consumed. So passion must be cultivated but also the young must be given the tools to control that passion so it fuels but does not consume.
@@davidward2520 well said and great insight! I just learned from Jordan Peterson even chaos brings potential and spontaneous. It’s not always negative. Just shows yin and Yang is such a true perspective.
i was on acid one night and realized both sides are right 😂

You will not find a more legendary character than Revan. He is truly great. Sort of like the galactic version of Alexander the Great or Julius Caesar.

@@SinclairSan Never again mention that name in the same solar system as Lord Revan!
Meetra Surik
@@JimmySpace69 Meetra served 'under' Revan. She was third in command behind he and Malak.
@@QoQabai658 L +ratio + meetra better + revan cringe + force wound
I believe I heard somewhere Revan attacked Malak and chopped off his lower jaw after Malak decided to decimate Telos' surface without Revan's knowledge or direct command. Revan was so furious because of the unnecessary destruction act by his apprentice that he almost killed him. It was one of the moments that point to Revan's indecisiveness about his own allegiance to the dark side, where he saw how terrible person Malak became while being consumed by the dark side. That attack on Telos is the same one in which Carth Onasi' wife died and lost track of his son Dustil. As I said, it's just a story I heard somewhere a long time ago but am still being reminded of it while watching your video. Great work btw!
Appreciate you! It's been really hard for me to find a source for this but i'm sure it exists somewhere in KOTOR lore, hard to find though because I wanted to have the exact events in this video. Even I know i've heard it somewhere, at the same time I don't wanna get it wrong!
Nah it was a training accident
Wasn't a training accident. It was either they got in to a argument because of the destruction of the planet or it was said somewhere that malak tried to betray revan and he sliced his jaw off and let him live like that to teach him a lesson. It was like a disciplinary act. I'm not sure if it's those two but I definitely know it wasn't a training accident. Either way don't fuck with revan was the message he was giving lmao
@Texan 07 just looked it up and apparently Malak thought revan was too soft and tried to take over by a duel but revan being revan owned his bitch ass
I like to think that Revan had the innate ability to resist the dark side, being able to wield its power and being consumed by it. So it was a shock when he saw his best turned into a monster by it.
I was led to believe Revan chose the dark side vs falling to the dark side like Malak did. It was explained as Revan seeing Lord Viciate and deciding the galaxy had no chance of surviving if Viciate returned to the galaxy with his version of the sith. So Revan, fully aware and cognitive, decided to embrace the dark side so that Revan could mold the sith into a less evil version of what Viciate had planned. More or less he turned to the dark side so that he could save the galaxy from destruction at the hands of Viciate. It would also make sense since Revan limited his use of the Star Forge so he wouldn't become corrupt from using it. I believe that is one of the things Malak disagreed with Revan on was use of the Star Forge as Malak used it much more often then Revan did. (I'll link the video I watched on it if i find it)
Need that link.. lmk
Nah in the revan book Revan explains that he and Malak were both completely dominated by the Emperor it wasn't until he and Malak were out of the empire's territory that Revan managed to break the hold that the emperor had on them and he used the force to alter their memories to erase any knowledge of what happened while allowing himself to recall a much more dangerous threat that the republic would have no hope against
I think that Revan had the innate ability to resist the corruption of the dark side, and thought that any jedi could do the same. Only after Malak glassed Telos he realized tye true dangers of the dark side.
This is a fascinating comment, thank you for bringing this to the conversation! Wow I never knew that, I'm playing knights of the Old Republic for the first time so I'm learning a lot about revan and this whole time period 👌🏼 good stuff!

@@kianhardwick So what we thinking, like a complete SWTOR story explained from the perspective of Canon?
@@SWCentral Yh that seems like a great idea and no one could do it better ur vids are so well explained and well formatted
As much as some may claim SWTOR and the novel ruined Revan, I disagree, I think it undeniably ruined his counterpart protagonist of the second KoTOR, Meetra Surik. It is so disappointing what they did to her character, after having such an in-depth story and background filled with so much emotion and tragedy, only to be reduced to a Revan fangirl and being stabbed in the back by an ally, as if the General of the Mandalorian Wars isn't fucking alert enough to know when something is amiss and would never expect betrayal from a SITH PUREBLOOD, bruh get the fuck out of here with that bullshit. Revan is the face of SWTOR, he is the Lennon of the Old Republic era, Meetra is unjustly treated as the Ringo.
Meetra was killed in novels, swtor (as a game) just tried to salvage it for I would say happy end :D all things considered. When I played shadow of revan, i felt they shouldnt bring him back, but later in ethernal empire it made sense and i really liked it. Sadly that game wasnt really that popular, but it had so many great characters and great storylines. I am glad videos like these exists that summarise at least some stories for people who didnt put countless hours into that game :D
Are you joking? They made it clear in the book that there was no way Meetra would have been able to sense that change because it wasn't something that Scourge had plotted or anything the man had a force vision that showed a jedi knight (the one in SWTOR) defeating the sith emperor so Scourge made a split second decision based on Revan's own comments
The one and only, chosen one of the Old Republic
Idk if I’d call Darth Revan the Chosen One, as Anakin was the Chosen One because he would bring balance to the Force. Whatever the balance is (George explained it but idk if it really fit’s with how it’s interpeted in the E.U). I believe George said that the balance is removing the Sith and the Dark Side because it corrupt’s (misspelling) and Anakin destroyed it.
@@75JUNAKI I think it's fair to say that most people see Revan as the "Chosen one" of the Old Republic era :p The last thing Revan said before he bacame one with the force, was this. "The Force Seeks Balance, Always." Whether or not Revan brought balance is up for debate, but he sure as hell helped it happen, more than anyone else.
@@75JUNAKI In the EU Anakin is still the definative chosen one.
I am still upset that we killed him in a damn Flashpoint
@@AbsurdFalcon Bleh. Given the fact that his 'balance' utterly and completely failed, if he's a chosen one, he's just as much a failure as Revan in bringing balance to the force. Luke has a better claim to the title than Anakin, and even then, he'd still be a failed messiah in both continuities, EU and Disney. Anakin's only real 'claims' come from a few cartoons and comics that only a small niche of people actually watched, and they have very little, if any, impact on the actual plot of the movies (aka the main story). If you hold main story of Revan side by side with the main story of Anakin, the biggest difference in terms of how special they are is that one character was declared a prophesized messiah because of a damn blood anomaly and the other wasn't. Like seriously. Take away the story with the Mortis Gods and it just becomes a bunch of old Jedi harping on about nonsense that's never proven true in any way beyond he threw an evil old wizard into a hole because he couldn't stand the sight of his son being tortured. Oooh, big woop, you killed a big bad sith lord, it isn't like they'll just come back again in a century or less like they always do because the Force is either actively malevolent, astoundingly stupid, or isn't intelligent at all and the idea that the Force has some sort of guiding intelligence is literally just the characters in-setting anthromorphising it. Viewed objectively, the whole 'chosen one bringing balance to the force' idea was some of the worst things we ever got from the prequels, and them being confirmed by the Mortis story arc is so wrong headed and dumb in terms of the overall quality of the narrative that the more I think about it the more it makes me dislike the prequels. Like, if it had been a genuine false prophecy, it could have been a cool plot point, but come on.

I’ve been looking forward to this video for awhile now. At the time of writing this comment, I’m almost half way through. Even still, I think you did an excellent job covering Revan, and I think this is your best explained video yet. I can feel the amount of love, passion, and hard work that went into this video in order to create it. You did an amazing job Sam. I hope you feel proud of yourself 👍😎💯. As a side note, I have a recommendation for your next explained video. Kreia/Darth Traya is one of the most unique and complex characters in all of Star Wars. As you well know, she has mastered both sides of the Force, trained the most powerful individuals of her era, and has a philosophy and outlook on the Force that’s far different from anyone who lived before or after her. I think an explained video on Kreia would be amazing and worthwhile.

Revan had the right idea No light nor dark JUST the force! Why wasnt this practiced more, i mean if there was benefits to the light side and the dark why not just use all of it 🤷♂️
Both sides were brainwashed. Also, not everyone can control the dark side without it controlling them. Most Jedi are afraid to try.
Definitely. It's why Luke in Legends was so successful. The new order wasn't so rigid and inflexible, but at the same wasn't easy to fall prey to the excess that plagues the sith.
Jolee Bindo in KOTOR was pretty gray when it came to the Force as well.
I like to call Revan the first chosen one

Revan is probably my favorite Star Wars character ever, which is a really big reason why I want a Knights of the Old Republic series. He doesn’t fall under any category, but I’d best categorize him as a Gray Jedi. He ended up being one of the most powerful force users.

I was playin KOTOR 1 and 2 and I became obsessed with this story. I'm so sad that they never made a 3rd game
If a 3rd game does eventually happen, i see the story being Revans lost apprentice coning to help the new order stop a new threat Revan was preparing for.
The star forge and the foundry are 2 separate things. The foundry makes a droid army. The Star Forge is a ship yard, any droids it makes are for defence. There is an optional quest on Nar Shada in Star Wars The Old Republic where it is hinted at a third device that can make planets or star systems and maybe even hole galaxies and the player can collect a piece of it and it is said it would take thousands of years to make functional again.
They were all part of the same technology. The Star Forge / Foundry can be referred to as the same thing. They do the same things in essence and trying to explain the differences without anything concrete to confirm it, isn't something I want to do. - I also wanted to add some more info around Revans mask / The Star forge robes, but these things are all discussed at length in other people videos. This video, specifically focuses on Revan and his life. If we ever make a "Star Forge" explained, then i'll certainly dive into details and explain best I can. Other than that, I hope you enjoyed the video! (Bioware also had Malgus use Rakatan technology, which we were told is from the Star Forge. Which is how his Arkis Wode achieved the stealth tech and how HK was rebuilt)

Revan should had conducted the same ritual vitiate performed on a planet with a force nexus and become even more powerful than he was as revan reborn, but he was very underpowered against vitiate

The next trilogy needs to be dedicated to Revan's story. That would be awesome but Disney would never do it
“It’s over Mandalore!” …I have the high ground!
;)
I alway’s like Darth Revan’s character (not Player Revan cause idk the character/personality). I believe what make’s the character good is that the decision’s Darth Revan made were alway’s Darth Revan’s own. Darth Revan’s mind was twist by the Sith Emperor (Vitiate), his influence of Darth Revan’s faded (I think) and Darth Revan remembered there being a threat in the Unknown Region’s and went on to destroy and rebuild the Republic. He kept the infastructure (misspelling) intact. During the Mandalorian Wars, from what I hear, Darth Revan was more concern of victory of war and wasn’t concern of morality. It seem’s Darth Revan was alway’s true to Darth Revan, self belief of what is right. That’s what I like of Darth Revan, it was not teaching’s, circumstance’s or example it was Darth Revan. I think I said Darth Revan x11 and Player Revan x1.
I’m here for revan lore
Hopefully this video delivers!
it was a duel that Malak challenged Revan to, that fateful fight made Malak lose his jaw.
Like I said, the Jedi needs to work on their codes, like the fact that they can’t fall in love, I’d wanna go to the sith!
Also i really only watched this to learn more about the old republic and to use this information in star wars games
Revan is truly the greatest ever
They need a show about him
Reven and basilia taught the new exile papatia Quinn
Revan was power. It was like staring into the heart of the Force
The Muker Jedi had the yellow lightsaber to begin with. I found one in Orion the constellation. It was a space lightsaber that bended when I used it. It's a black light blade with stars in it.
Very Good
I'm halfway through and loving it so far. Some questions. Why didn't Revan and Malak not signal the council before going after the sith? Also if both forgot about the emperor why stay on the dark side and not rejoin the light?
Well they went on the search for the Sith right after beating Mandalore and winning the war. So while some people such as Meetra returned to the council, Revan and Malak alone went in search of the dark side influence. Well, the reason they didn't simply "break free" was because the Emperor turned them and corrupted them, as he did with many Jedi including some masters. Revan and Malak however, were able to twist the emperors instructions and make it seem like they were their own choices. It's a wierd and complex point in the story as it's meant to cover a plot hole I guess. Because you would otherwise be right in thinking they should have returned to being light sided jedi. But it wasn't that simple at least not for Revan. He used and mastered the dark to only save the galaxy.
@@SWCentral Ah gotcha that makes more sense thanks! Revan really should have sent a message to the council they were on dromand kass lol. But I guess that would ruin the story. I guess in their arrogance they thought they could handle it by themselves?
@@The-Blue-Knight Totally! I could imagine the jedi council being interested in the information. Seeing as it came from mandalore himself as well. Defo agree. I guess the plot was needed more than the council xD - there are quite a few things that need clarifying on Revan, he's been in so many different pieces of content that connecting the dots is sometimes left to imagination. SWTOR does a good job of continuing Revans story, but it kinda ruins the lore of the book imo or at least some of it. I'm hoping people will be pleased with the "version" we have given, it feels the most appropriate!

I don’t really like the SWTOR idea that Revan was brainwashed by the Emperor. I like Kreia’s implication that Revan’s turn was a choice or “sacrifice” a lot more.
It's actually both! - See, The Emperor did corrupt Malak and Revan, however both of them managed to break free of his control but in doing so, lost all memory of the Sith. At this point, Revan had *figured* out that something happened to him. He accepts the dark side as his new ally, he masters it, so he can use it against his enemies. This is what Kriea was talking about.
