Putting an Intex pool in the ground

We decided putting our new Intex 24x12 ft pool on the lawn would ruin the grass so instead we decided to dig a hole and sink it in the ground. Starting in April 2020 and working in the evenings and weekends, we finally got it finished at the beginning of July. Turned out much better than i'd ever have thought. The kids love it and it looks great in the back garden.
Thanks to Grandpa and Michael for your help, it was much appreciated.

    • Thanks. The pool is sat on a sand base so it drains pretty well. We do get a couple of inches of water in the bottom during prolonged periods of rain in the winter when the water table is high. The heater is stood on a brick base soits high enough not to be affected .

  • My only concern would be that those large Intex pools are known for having their supports rust out and break rather quickly. Seems like it would be a pain to inspect and replace them with it sunk in the ground and with the deck blocking access.

    @Lucidleo-li8yu@Lucidleo-li8yu2 жыл бұрын
    • There is a hatch for accessing under the deck and you can get all the way around the pool for inspection. The pump and heater are also under there.

    • @@robonions hi Rob- can you make a video on how you did that. My husband and I want to put our pool in the ground as our HOA won’t allow AGP’s. Our concern is when you put the pool in and make our deck, how can we have access to everything in case of replacements once we put the deck in. Can you show me how you did that? How you made the hatch to have access?

    @basicsurfer08@basicsurfer08 Жыл бұрын
    • Hi, it's all still working perfectly. We take the pump out and put it indoors during the winter but leave the heater in situ, just wrap it with some hot water tank lagging. It's raised off the ground too just in case we get some water in the hole. Put the cover in and reopen it in late spring.

    • Hi, I don't I'm afraid. I just hired a mini digger and started digging a hole. By the time I'd ruined the lawn there was no going back. I then just got a load of wood, did a quick sketch of how I wanted it to look and started building. Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • That is a lot of work for something that will deteriorate at pool liner will only last so long and if you get a rip in it hope it's not too long they have underwater Fix-It kit now that much time and work and invested out of just put a in-ground pool in

    @donniesavage2051@donniesavage2051 Жыл бұрын
    • I know someone who's had one if these pools for 10 years and the liner is still in good condition. I've read that if you keep the water in which we do then it will prolong the life of the liner too. Fingers crossed for no rips. We did have the Newfi in it once but luckily no rips!

I didn't and had one hell of a job pulling them straight and pinning them back. Also we found out this winter that the pool ended up sitting in about 4 inches of water as the sop level went up.
