If you weren’t following Apple's Bendgate debacle when it happened back in 2014, then let me explain exactly how it went down. So the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were released near the end of 2014 and generated quite a bit of hype since they had pretty radical designs that featured much larger displays than the previous iPhone 5s, coming in at 4.7 and 5.5 inches. So customers were excited to get their hands on an iPhone that finally had a screen size comparable to its competition. And after just three days of going on sale, over 10 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus units had been sold. And while those huge sales numbers gave Apple a reason to celebrate, things took a turn for the worst when a handful of iPhone 6 Plus owners complain on social media that their new smartphone had bent during normal usage.

I'm not here to 'pick a side' or 'support any one company',.. BUT I thought that I should mention that people had always complained about the phones getting thinner year after year. But in reality the iPhone 6 & 6Plus were the thinnest iPhones apple has ever sold (even the 6s was thicker). I do remember that I was personally affected by the whole bend gate (and "touch disease") thing on my 6 Plus. It bent after about my first day, but Apple replaced my 6 Plus completely.

They made the 6S metal stronger to prevent bending. My 6S plus still bent anyway. It was in my pocket once, I took it out and a huge noticeable bend was on it. I was using the phone normally. I thought the whole bendgate thing was kind of a joke but it actually happened to me.

I *personally* feel as if the iPhone 11 has is the best so far, it has a very strong material, apple has not gone cheap for their new buildup. The quality also is really good as well. I have always respected apple, and always have used apple, but I have disagreed with it for some but this iPhone 11 is a big jump, keeping the classic recognizability and yet it being a lot stronger.

Having a throwback from my current 12 pro to my old 6 which had a bend on the left side for half the time i was using it. The 6 feels so fragile even with a case compared to the 12series which feels miles more durable despite the glass back. Despite the regular 12 having an aluminium build even that feels damn solid in hand the pro with stainless steel is even better

I feel like apple was hated more for bendgate than Samsung was for there note 7 blowing up edit even though this isn't an insanely popular comment its still my most popular one thx
TheNickster D for reals
it's because Apple was in fact hated more, and it is due to the fact that unlike Samsung, Apple did not take their clients' complaints seriously and did not show them much support. For the clients, this was like Apple was saying: If you're phone has an issue, buy a new one or go f**k yourself.
The difference is that you can keep using a bent iPhone. I had a bent iPhone 6, without touch disease, and it was fine. Who cares if it's a little bent? Exploding, on the other hand, is not a minor issue.
Bibasik7 Well you can drive a car without working airbags. Yet Takata has bankrupted, and Ferrari lives on
Samsung suck it up, admit the issue and work to correct the error. Apple usually brush it off, claiming its a small issue or even threatening content creator for exposure sometimes. 9/9 times they only act to correct the problem when there's a class action lawsuit coming in and that would take another 2 to 4 years
The note 7 was the first 2 in one phone. It can be used as a cellular device, or an explosive weapon
No, the iPhone 4 was. You could smash the glass on the front and back, then throw it as a sharp weapon.

Y’all ever heard of a phone case like damn
Justin Nowaczynski I know. And I know that not everyone wants a phone case because of their reasons (either they like the sleek look of the phone itself or they don’t wanna buy one) but also a phone case could prevent this. It’s a dumb issue that it exists at all but even if it didn’t exist you should have a phone case to prevent screen cracking etc
Justin Nowaczynski as an apple user can I just say- yeah? I fucking hate Apple tbh. I personally have more troubles with their policies and how they deal with privacy and payment methods etc because it’s the most complicated shit for no reason, but I digress. I think that both Samsung and Apple have their own strengths and weaknesses though, and if you prefer Samsung all the power to you! They are more durable for sure, my friend literally whipped her Samsung on the pavement and it barely had a scratch. I could have a protective case on mine and have it crack- but I guess my point is that there are easy solutions to these problems, either don’t buy Apple or get a case, it doesn’t matter to me, I’m just saying that there’s a simple solution
Had an iPhone 6 Plus for 3 years. I was usually wearing it in my front pocket and sometimes in my back pocket as well. I never had an issue with this nor my friends who also owned one. I am inclined to think that it was a rare issue.

Apple also has an issue on iPad with bending. My son has had two iPads that bent and both were in cases. I notice that newer models have squared edges. I wonder if this might solve the bending problem
There’s a small hole in the frame of the iPad to allow for wireless charging of the Apple Pencil, it makes it way weaker.

I think that the reason why people are concerned about the bend on the iphone, is because they don't like to see a different color in the middle of their ipad or iphone, when they thought that they turned on the color filter setting.
