  • "be what women feel comfortable with you being, around other men" this right here is MASSIVE. we forget as a society that its not only men judging us or labeling us but most importantly its our own kind, women, at times being even more judgmental than the men towards a sexually liberated and daring woman. I personally know many girls like this and they are easily threatened by any remotely attractive woman in their vicinity and it boils their blood to see a girl like that who is confident and unapologetic.

But Madonna came on tv -I already loved her music - and said in an interview, "Gay people are my biggest fans - I wouldn't have a career without them! My brother is gay." I knew in that moment if Madonna could love me, someone out there would love me for who I am. So, I lived. It sounds dramatic, and it's is, but it's 100 percent the truth.

      @jasonle520@jasonle5204 жыл бұрын
    • @@jasonle520 yes that could be some of the instances. but her point was that if someone didn't like her, they'd say it to her face even if it was few since like you said, "people are afraid to do that" directly in her face. but remember, there are actual critics out there where some of their job is to "critic" what she does. I don't know for you, but if there were people directly saying that in my face, I'd be more bothered rather than a lot of people bashing me on social media because I could just shut down my notifications. and some of the hate today were just bandwagon. imagine, someone to say something in her face means that they really "meant" what they said probably unlike social media where people just jump on the hate train. think about this too: madonna is still active in her career back then and now. so she's also experiencing those "behind the screen" social media hate. I bet if you search i hate madonna there's also hate going on social media on her. but the fact that she told that story where "people used to say it in my face" means that is more bothering and it affected her more than current social media thing. and it was the 80s. I am sure most people were blunt back then. please let's not dive into i-dont-think-you-understand-what-she-meant and just focus on the message of what she's saying. it's that hate will always be there. people should be more considerate of the words they say and actions that they do.

  • Watching this 7 years later.. what a powerful and profound speech that brought me to tears.. truth is, I used to be THAT woman, the one who judged you, who would criticize you for what you looked like, acted, and behaved, I put myself on a pedestal and thought of myself as a woman of "values" who would never put myself out there as you did. How wrong was I... the beauty of aging brings wisdom though... I now know that subconsciously I was envious, not of your fame or fortune, but envious of your ability to be comfortable in your own skin, so comfortable with who you are, that other's opinions did not matter. My takeaways from this speech are to ACCEPT and embrace who you are, fully, your past and your present, your warts and all that goes with it, and to be GRATEFUL, not only for the people who support and agree with you but more so those that do not, as how you react to those who don't agree with you is your CHOICE, Madonna CHOSE to take motivation and inspiration from those who did not agree with her.

Waiting in companion with Did you do it? is God, the latter actually one of the few hip hop songs I really like. And Erotica the song is stand-alone in its cold cruel queerness. Hehe I'm listening to those right now, thanks KZhead.

    • It seams there is something truthful in this speach. When she was saying what she was expected to do in her life and what she had done because she was expected to do - it is basically everything what she has done in her life. She dedicated her life to companies she worked. She basically said what I was thinking all the time - she is creation of somebody else. Image of Madonna is just corporative creation and we don't actually know real Louise Ciccone. Probably she doesn't exsist. And I think it has noting to do with her gender. It has to do with people who sell their souls to the Devil. Louise Ciccone had to die Madonna to be born. Very sad. There is no way return. Now she must do everything what devil does to her, otherwise Madonna is dead.

She is all sincerity. Sad most gay, women, some people she struggled her to support do not recognize her for that. But I love her and that is what matters.

So they definitely made some errors of judgment over the years. Especially about my girl, Madam M, who is still standing tall, even after 35 years; LIVING LEGEND. 👍

She talks about how people should get more informed. Madonna talks about life. she talks about her spiritual change in ray of light. they also cut out other things about the gay community she spoke about and mentioning other stars, saying shes lucky she's still here.
