Interesting day at Molokini as this Moray Eel was clearly on the hunt and found it's prey.

Morays generally aren't aggressive towards humans, even the big ones, provided they don't mistake you for something edible. However, they have very poor eyesight, and rely mostly on sense of smell, so if your hand smells like food, there's a risk they'll try to bite you when hand feeding, which is why that's generally not recommended with larger species.

There is one video of a Moray digging an octopus out of a small hole by moving rocks with it's mouth. I'm guessing they are pretty intelligent too. Some Morays can be quite friendly once you get over the frightening looks. I went on a dive once where giant morays would come out to great the divers, likely because the dive master always brought fish for them. Even so, there were like 10 divers around them and they let you pet them.

This video has changed how I see Azul and the Leech tweels in a cursed way
I KNEW ABOUT IT, AND I LOVE JOKING ABOUT IT
It's amazing that the eel was able to hunt the highly intelligent octopus.
@@zemlidrakona2915 that is amazing, thank you for sharing.
Great footage. What camera do you use?
GoPro actually + PolarPro Filter & 2 Sola1200 dive lights..
Very good quality video, thanks for sharing.
Same question I asked. The video quality was impressive.

A discovery for one animal A food for prey A horrific death for the victim
Brilliant footage!
Eels seem to live in some fancy neighborhoods
Wow amazing footage. Nature is ruthless!
what a brutal fight
Incredible. What amazing footage. I’d never get that close
Dam good video! Lucky timing, well done
Can we just appreciate that octopus grabbing the coral?
no
He tried spinning, it was a good trick
I want to know who's the fuckers who went out to FIND this video and then DISLIKED this amazing footage? Where they expecting an open drawn out fight between a moray and a eel? Because that dislike bar shouldn't even exist for this kind of footage.
Wow, what an amazing video!
Mahalo plenty bruddah Knarf!
he's rolling to tear its prey like a crocodile does
Nice! I thought crocs were the only ones to do death rolls, till I saw this.
"Yeah octopus is worth the all the hard work it's just the tentacles stuck on the face that are a pain"
@2:42 “lalalala, oop, that’s a rock.” 😂😂
Moray Eel's twisted-bite is powerful
Nice footage
When she got the octopus the small fishes around are like “yooooo guys chill” hahaha
Brutal! The eel means business, and the poor octopus.
That video is amazing, I wonder what type of camera was used, it does a great job
GoPro .. and recommend the GoPro8 now. add PolarPro Red filter and lights.
how sweet he invited you for sushi since you came to his home.
well thats a first for me ive only seen occys eat eels but not the other way around.
It's usually other way around, eels mostly win.
Reminds me of myself at the Seafood buffet a few days ago. They said all you can eat Dammit!
The way the coral obscures the eel eating the Octopus and its tentacles just slowly dyings feels like a nature documentary horror film.
The fishes was like WTF
this must be the same eel that i discovered when i was snorkling my first time in maui. the same black fishes in the background was surrounding me because i threw up
Can't imagine being eaten while alive.
You just did though? didn't you.
That was great..Moray el is very powerful ...
These animals are so intelligent that they know divers will disrupt animals as they pass revealing prey. Nature you SCARY!
The moray eel, it hears a squeal! It's found its meal, and closes the deal and for the octopussy; its the last thing he'll feel :'()
The eel went full fork mode on that sea spaghetti at 2:00
It completely ignored the spines of those urchins
Nice. Easy peasy
All those fish swimming around are all like WORLDSTAR
I like the fish swimming around like little instigators lol
Straordinarie queste riprese...la natura è veramente pazzesca.
Amazing footage. Thanks for the upload.
Funny thing is he not going anywhere, where's he going he's just swimming. He act like he's running to hide with his food but where
Hi,can I ask which camera using for shoot?thank
Hello Darren, can I maybe use your footage for a video I'm working on? If yes, I will of course credit you in the description. Cheers
When it’s teeth open wide and there’s more teeth inside: That’s a moray!
Nice video. Thanks for sharing👍
When the moon hits your eye like a-big-a-pizza pie that's a moray.
The moray eel must be a badass. I would have never thought it would win that encounter. Maybe the octopus was at a disadvantage being in that hole...? Or too young?
Does the Eel use the roll method like a croc?
that was fucking *AWESOME!*
Hey Jessica, how are you doing? Did you like that octopus?
thank you
Damn nature, you scary.
You're damn everywhere.
finnally a xyz eats xyz footage in hd. thx
Man, then eels are brutal out there.
No visible sign of the octopus before the pounce. I watched at half speed. Wonder what the eel noticed.
What reef was this taken in
You would think the tentacles would get stuck in his throat I believe I saw footage of that somewhere but it wasn't an eel
How do people who promote these dives continue without telling the people who pay for these experiences that flashes actually stun fish and freak them out 🤦🏻♀️
Rakethetrees go to about 13 seconds in 2 seconds later you will see the flash
That’s my favorite animal you got there!
Those purple sea urchins are saying, "...Wow, glad I have all these spines....Aahhhh... Trigger fish!!!"
