EDIT August 20, 2023: This video has exceeded all expectations for viewership, but today I realized that the Tron Roller Coaster just opened in April 2023 at WDW, and I just happened to ride that wave of excitement. I hope to go there and ride it myself!
If i was rich i would personally fund a sequel to this movie.
Sadly, you would have to rip it from the mouse's cold dead hands before ever being able to make another Tron movie. Though, being how, the mouse is having money problems. Could make an offer. If you had the money.
The stupid part is how many times the 3rd movie pops up into yeah we gonna make it to no we not gonna make it.

13 years ago...and it still looks and sounds AMAZING. This movies was something special.

I don't think it was "ahead of its time". i just managed to slip through the cracks of bureaucratic oversight that usually waters these types of movies down into a generic, unintelligible, typical Disney mess.
"...Now _this_ I can do." Just, hours of being in an unfamiliar place where he doesn't know any of the rules, and only survived due to a specific Program's hard-coded directive to never harm a User (how awkward would it have been if he _hadn't_ bled and had it noticed in time?)... and then he finally encounters a scenario where he _does_ finally recognize something about the world and how to "play the game".
"okay, this really is happening. I really am stuck in a video game. I'm not sure if this can kill me, but I think it does. I really should be panicking right now. But the thing is... I love video games."

You can tell this scene was filmed in IMAX, just by the optics alone.
It actually wasn’t, they used the same cameras that they used for the rest of the film, but they shot some sequences in open matte with IMAX in mind
TRON: Legacy is just a visual & a musical ecstasy. It's like a beautiful looking game in a movie form. So good. The special effects are fantastic and the soundtrack and composing by Daft Punk is pretty epic as well. Fits the film perfectly. Actors and actresses were phenomenal. Story was touching. Everything a good solid sequel needs. Joseph Kosinski did amazing the style is unmatched. You are fully entertained for 2 hours and 5 minutes.
Doesn't even look like this film has 2 hours, it passes so fast, on how good it is

This was such a good era for movies, I remember seeing this like a half dozen times in Imax when it first came out.
as a kid who grew up with the original Tron, I'm not ashamed to admit this scene actually got me misty-eyed. Especially the transformation scene and the bikes actually not moving at right angles...

Me too, I also grew up with the original. I watched this one in the theater but it was the 3-D version and I had a huge headache when I came out. Now going back to it, I realize how much the soundtrack speaks to me as well as the artistic vision.

Not bringing back the cast from before, not doing something interesting with Cillian Murphy?? casting JARED LETO??? The director for Dead Man Tell No Tales and Maleficent??? Disney just takes L after L now, completely different company

This is exactly how I felt when I was playing Tron on my Commodore C64 as a kid.
That floor, and those tires, look like they would have zero traction, more slippery than an ice rink.
If the compound is soft enough, it can still grip.
Tron: Ares is coming, but I worry how good it will be without the genius music of Daft Punk. The Music was a character of the movie on its own.
The initial reaction to Daft Punk scoring this movie was pretty lukewarm. Then they dropped this kingshit of a score on us.
