2006 Ohio State Buckeyes @ Texas Longhorns

  • I was at this game. Loved every minute of it. Kudos to the Longhorn fans as well. I have been to a lot of away stadiums and have met many fans of opposing teams, and I have never been to a classier place than Texas. Fans were gracious and complimentary to me even moments after their loss at home. Great stadium, atmosphere, culture, and history there. If I wasn't a Buckeye, I would probably be a Longhorn.

    • As an Iowa fan, here's what I will never understand after seeing this game and several others: How on earth did this OSU team lose by FOUR TDs to Florida? A close game I could maybe see, but that title game...I will always scratch my head at that.

    • @@thunderbird1921 Ohio State was extremely unprepared. There were reports that T. Smith gained like 15 pounds between the Michigan Game and NC Game and most of the team was getting praised throughout award season. A lot of them have said they came in expecting to win, and that is why they got drummed.

Don't think Chris Leak and the 2006 Gators could match up. VY was the best football player I've ever witnessed. He lost a defensive match up against a Top ranked OU team in the middle of his sophomore year, and never lost again in college. People who don't know always talk about the Rose Bowl, that was just another game, he did that all the time. He combined Cam Newton size and Power with Michael Vick speed, No disrespect to all the other great cfb players, but VY is like Wayne Gretzky or Michael Jordan, If he was on your team, then your team was winning, end of story, he happened to play for the Texas Longhorns.

    • That's one of the reasons why in some ways I prefer re-watching CFB games from the '70s - '00s over more recent or even live games. The teams with swarming, punishing defenses back then were a thing of beauty. The more recent shift in rules and offensive philosophies have changed the balance of power between O and D. Modern quick tempo, high pressure offenses are fun to watch, but I'm old school and appreciate the days when great D's are what won championships.

  • This was one the better groups that Ohio State put together with talent all across the board! But with coaches like Trussle, Myers, and now Day you could combine all the wins and losses and Cooper would still be one of the worst? Coop always made us get embarrassed by Michigan and he lost some big ones that may have punched are tickets to the national championship game more than a few times. I mean I could not stand watching Desmond Howard, Tim biaocbutuca , Charles Woodson, Sam Sord , ECT.. hanging about thirty points on us every year, I mean it was embarrassing and quite frankly this why we have been so dominant in the last few decades because no one wants to feel that letdown that we tend to always run into, and we still tend to do that now every other year when we have national title expectations..... Go bucks hope we have a season can't stand the Corona virus 😫😷😣... We want football and sports...

    • As a lifelong OSU fan from as far back as the mid '70s, my opinion is that Jim Tressel got exactly what he deserved. Why so many OSU fans still view him as some kind of saint irks me to no end. He botched a minor infraction into a major one. Had he just handled that correctly, by contacting the AD and compliance as soon as he got that e-mail, we could have avoided that mess. He was paid millions to know better and he proved incompetent in a basic function. In the end we are so much better off as a program without him.

    • I like '70s-early '90s Brent. But sometime in the '90s, might have been when he was fired by CBS and went over to ABC, he got paired up with Dick Vitale in CBB, and he was way too influenced by Dickie V's irrational exuberance. From that point on Brent became a caricature of himself and it wasn't good.
