My Brother, My Brother, and Me stars Griffin and Travis McElroy were joined by Geek and Sundry founder Felicia Day to talk about raising the next generation of nerds at Awesome Con 2023.
Griffin McElroy is a podcaster, actor, writer, composer, and former video game journalist. He is known for his work on podcasts such as My Brother, My Brother, and Me and The Adventure Zone, as well as for co-founding the video game journalism website Polygon.
Felicia Day is the founder and former owner of Geek and Sundry. She also played Cyd Sherman / Codex in The Guild and is well known for her roles in Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog, Skylanders Academy, Eureka, Dollhouse, Con Man, The Rookie, Mystery Science Theater 3000, and many more.
Travis McElroy is an American podcaster, writer, and comedian. He is known for his work on podcasts such as My Brother, My Brother and Me, Shmanners, The Adventure Zone, and Can I Pet Your Dog?

  • Personally i love yall talking about being parents and how you and your kids interact with "nerdy" media together. It really solidifies why i stil, after all these years keep following the McElroys. They have shown me i can be an adult with a family and still be myself. I dont have to be hard business sports dad. I can be nerdy goofy dad and my kids will turn out alright still.

  • 31:55 it is pretty wild to think about. when felicia made The Guild, I remember a general sentiment of "woah a girl playing games, that's weird," but now it would be weird to think that way.

  • Felicia Day not knowing who Brennan is kind of breaks my heart a little. Dude is maybe the second-most successful DM of all time and arguably has the best worldbuilding in the game.

  • Love the panel but yikes Felicia is the first person I’ve seen that has no chemistry with the brothers on stage at all. They’re all parents though, maybe they’re just all tired🤷‍♂️

    • I can see how it would seem that way, but I think the McElroys’ level of psychic brother energy can sometimes make other interactions seem less in comparison. Still, I could see the Griffin and Travis doing their best to hold themselves back when they accidentally dominated the conversation haha

    • @@trebotski and considering that the brothers have 13 years of acclimating to aggressively interrupting each other and being interrupted, i thought it was pretty great that they only talked over Day a couple times, and when she interjected, they immediately stopped talking
