@@jamesrobson8308 I haven't watched Horizons yet. I only implied about the overall development of Journies. Although I'm considering to start watching Horizons as I heard many great things about the season. It's just going to be a little weird watching Pokemon without Ash in it.

I cant even describe how much I love the story between these two. There just so much substance and the writers really went with it. It is truly like no other anipoke story ever told. Finally seeing Ash struggle so much and really question himself, along with seeing how close him and Greninja grew in the end after all the struggle and pain. It’s just too amazing. It still lives rent free in my head to this day and I always get emotional thinking about them.✊😣 Also, just an amazing video!!! The editing is epic and fantastic and I’m always grooving out to your music choices. It’s really hard to find real Ash-Greninja fans out there nowadays. Us fans really gotta stick together✊

I love the way you spun the ending of the Kalos league. Because I've said for years I was okay with Ash losing because unlike other tournament losses Alain was the second main character of XY and not on random guy we meet two episodes before he beats Ash
Exactly my thinking, to be fair I'm stilling very sad he lost but even then... it makes sense he would lose to alain rather than some nobody, great analysis 👍
Ash lost because Pikachu was not the one who scored final victory. Because when Ash beat Orange League, Final Battle Frontier, Alola League, and Masters Tournament, Pikachu was the last one standing
@@jetguy128in alola League, it was Lycanrock, because the fight with Gladion was the finale. And in Masters 8, don't forget Sirfetch'd and Lucario carrying through Cynthia. (Pikachu had one kill and one tie in both battles tho)

I will say, I hate Ash's Greninja losing in the Kalos League, since Alain got basically 1 shot by pretty much every legendary other than Zygarde. But people point to this and say Alain's stronger, when we saw Alain unable to put a scratch on Steven's Mega Metagross with both a type advantage and a fully mastered Mega Evolution. Whereas Ash clobbered Diantha even without mastering the "ace up it's sleeve" in bond phenomenon. And this wasn't coincidence as some writers outright said they wanted Ash to win following the backlash from when this episode aired. That said, I think the main reason you pointed out at the end, where the trainer and pokemon could look at each other and smile, even after losing signifying their bond, is a new way of looking at this loss for me, and the best reason I've heard for Ash losing. Not some inconsistent headcannon powerscaling (DP Pikachu tied with Latias only to get bodied by a Snivy and a Panpour in BW, just like AG Zard being able to beat Articuno but losing to Dusclops afterwards), but an actually good story reason. I still wish Ash would've won here and maybe lost to an E4 member or Diantha, only for Pikachu to clutch up. And I also hold issue with how winning or losing doesn't really affect Alain's character, how the loss developing Ash and Greninja's bond wasn't made a bit clearer (because, again, the writers wanted him to win this one, as did a lot of us) and how all that development went straight down the drain when Greninja was released. I really could overlook this loss if Ash and Greninja won a rematch against Alain in the Masters 8, and beat Leon's Cinderace/Rillaboom. Regardless, this was an awesome video, and really took me back to 2016.

i love XY so much even though the league was rushed, the battles were so peak ash vs sawyer showed sawyer's growth as a trainer, going from a rookie being schooled by ash to having mastered both strategy and power, overwhelming ash in the first half of the battle and alain, being used himself and pokemon battling as a tool for his whole life, with the only purpose of serving lyssander, finally is able to have fun, enjoy himself, forget about the pass of time or what he was thinking of minutes before, battling ash who also just recently regained the love he had for pokemon after coming out of that obsession with winning and becoming stronger althogh i have my gripes with the resolution of the league, ash smiling in the face of defeat, being grateful and glad for such an incredible battle with alain and showing the smile of fun that he lost earlier, was simply amazing
Same feelings here... but I think I liked the league more than how they treated future ones where we got more battles but the animation was nowhere near that level ya know?
@@Pokiiii62 I agree, but seeing the technical level that regular battles, not just important ones like gyms, had in XY, a full fledged kalos league would've been the best in the franchise for sure like imagine a double battle phase where hawlucha and noivern fight together or talonflame covering a water shuriken in fire and it wouldve also opened the door for pokemon we hadnt seen in a while like corphish (my goat), heracross, the kanto starters, gliscor, etc. to return like in the sinnoh league or battle frontier, which wouldve been dope as hell

Got to admit Ash’s Greninja was and still is a total badass. And is one of Ash’s best Pokemon alongside his Infernape, Charizard, Lycanrock, Sceptile, Lucario and of course Pikachu. The bond that these two shared was so incredible especially the character development they went through. Although most will argue that Greninja took away the spotlight from Ash’s other Pokemon which I agree. However Greninja had an incredible story from beginning to end and although he lost against Alain’s Charizard in the Kalos League they fought till the very end. But also he got redemption by saving all of Kalos along with the others in the end. But I didn’t like how Ash released Greninja since that to me felt forced. Still great video!

Man how i want a greninja in the anime that still has it's frubbles because only because of them it saved it's trainer. It would look so cool. Especially in the battle bond style.

The thing that sold it is that froakie didn't choose ash for it's power. It didn't even know about it. The thing that did is that froakie chose ash for love. As olympia said. And that is what i think gave greninja that power.

Honestly Greninja is a mysterious pokemon ash and Greninja went through trials and tribulations to get to their prime state I remember going on Wikipedia to research the pokemon in question literally surprising had my eyes widen I researched it after finishing the series on Netflix few years back it was honestly worth it Greninja went down THE pokemon of the year in 2020 I remember seeing the video I was honestly surprised but happy I loved the story of Greninja that pokemon is a joy to watch.

Well... i think alain had a bit of a plot armor - goodra was nerfed, bisharp was crazy and charizard tanked every thing, including pikachu's attacks that were super efective, like it was nothing.... I know that charizard fought legendarys, pikachu did too, halluwcha got revenge on mega absol two battle prior, noivern and talonflame went against the legendary birds, giving them major run for thier money... Not to mention ash greninja, that in unperfect mode basically got the drop on mega charizard before they lost conciousness... And than procced to beat up 2 megas that it was weak to... one shot a dragon type that is ressistent to water types with water shuriken... and pressure the champion to mega evolve and even then it felt like he had the edge...
That's very fair, I do find it annoying he won, but Ash still did the impossible. that's why he's the GOAT 🙏

IMO that's cuz Greninja sought immense power, as explained in the video, but Pikachu and Ash's bond is about friendship/companionship, not about being the absolute strongest. There may not outright be a bond phenomenon for Pikachu, but there definitely were some similar moments, like 10,000,000 volts versus Nihilego.

the real tale of ash-greninja is that it's an ancient greninja in the ninja village, the reason of frokie being rouge on the trainers is because the trainers won't be able to awaken the power residing in him, so when he saw sight on ash, he knew he was the true person to be following, as from when Olympia said the future, she meant of the incident that was going to happen and the forme of greninja that she saw.
I don't think froakie knew that bond phenomenon would be in his future UNTIL he met Olympia, their was no indication of that

nah ash should have won that fight. I'm convinced the creators just wanted to continue ash's story and they thought it wouldn't be possible if he became the champion of Kalos. This in turn received a lot of backlash from fans and is most likely why he went on to win the Alola league and eventually the world championship in Journeys.
