I feel Palafin being taken from that fanart is an incredible stretch here. The reason Palafin looks so much like the fanart is because both are based on the same mythological Brazilian creature and its general associated vibes, aka a dolphin that is able to become a humanoid handsome man to seduce human women. The heart motifs are pretty easy to extrapolate from the seducer aspects, and then the muscular humanoid form is pretty self explanatory.
Otherwise tho this is a cute video on (possible) fan involvement in Pokemon development! Realized this comment kinda reads off as aggressive, apologies if it does so, it was not intended! I enjoy your content, ahaha!

Just in this specific case, I felt possible ignorance towards the source mythological inspirations may have played into his opinion on the Finizen line being “too similar to” and “possibly inspired by” this fakemon, who just happened to share the same origin concept
Yup. In addition to its seductive nature, Dolflate is also likely pink because the IRL river dolphin tied to the myth is pink as well. Not entirely sure why Finizen and Palafin are blue though, other than to represent the Water type and to exude a cool/heroic vibe I think Scovillain's resemblance to Burnipper is pretty uncanny though, like they have the same overall body shape + their TOES are the same
Looking at the art, they really don't even look like each other. Not even a little except the "heart"
Technically most people at Game Freak today were probably fans first, since the series is getting older now.

I know after they were announced (or maybe before) there was an old tweet going around from one of the people working on the games from before they were employed by GF (AKA a fan at the time) that if they ever got to make a pokemon they would make a tea set and call them SinisTEA and PolTEAgeist

the palafin and Scovillain are really big stretches, palafin is based on a brazilian mytholigical creature and scovillain is just one of many pepper pokemon designs, so theres a small chance that an official pepper pokemons design would be brand new
I wish GAME FREAK would listen to more fan ideas like the Ilex Shrine Celebi event. We need more special events like this where getting these Mythical Pokemon feels *EARNED* rather than just being given to you without you being able to name them.

@@stacyfearlicia Well, they had to because the original games had them. ORAS too retained the Eon Ticket event. HGSS sadly though didn't give us a Celebi battle, though that Giovanni event was pretty neat. Gens 3-5 were the era of awesome events... now they're just handed over to us without any feeling of satisfaction of earning them and being unable to name them.

The nicknames for Scovillain and Palafin are great too (Hab & Nero and All Might respectively).
Interesting note In a fake leak for Pokémon Z the one that said it would have a second half of the Dex in south of Kalos there was a Grass/Fire two stage evolution based on a pepper Sound familiar

When I was much younger, I once heard a version of the Celebi rumor that Celebi could be caught from Gold and Siover in honor of the release of Crystal, but like many others, I also later learned that Celebi could only be caught in Crystal version and only in a certain special event that took place only in Japan.
If Pokémon took these sorts of playground rumors and ran with them, why did they skip out on putting a mew under that truck?
well at least they do tease about it in Kanto games post gen 2, with FR/LG having a Lava Cookie next to a truck in the same spot and Let's Go having the truck there with a hidden Revive 'under it' (the left rear tire).

With such a massive and long-running franchise like Pokemon, I think it starts to get really hard to avoid taking inspiration from fan works. I mean, when I was a kid 20 years ago, everyone my age knew Pokemon. Today, everyone around that same age still knows Pokemon. No matter how original your ideas are going to be at this point, they'll overlap with an idea that someone else had, and maybe even drew up. So you might as well find the best ones and let your fans be excited they got to contribute.

Meltan is essentially extremely exclusive dlc that's locked behind a mobile game.
Random thought, maybe they had the plan to ride Mega Rayquaza the whole time and that's why it can mega evolve just by knowing a move so he can activate it outside of battle
I don't remember if you mentioned this in the first video (I watched it when it first came out), but spinarak was a fan design from a design contest that they edited a bit and added to GSC

To be fair rayquaza and deoxy idea has always been around and is the first time the 3rd legendary and the mythical were the two who gets into a fight. The entire movie destiny deoxy is about deoxy passing on a meteor to invade our world looking for another deoxy and rayquaza trying to protect the world. Later ray realized it’s just a big misunderstanding. But these two Pokémon encounter in space

Palafin and Scovillain are humongus stretches It's basically if i had claimed gamefreak copied my grass starter fakemon when making lycanroc and chossing decidueye's typing There are hundreds of fakemon that end up coinciding with each other and real pokemon, be it on their names, concept or design
With the popularity and how many ideas they have to create it isn't surprising fan and official crosses from time to time, intentionally or not.

with the toby fox thing, people have been speculating that some songs secretly slip in from both undertale and deltarune. like one song (i forgot witch one) secretly slipped in part of the world revolving. but theres another witch is gasters theme being heard in pennys theme. but the last one im not sure if its true. mostly because it seems to be a stretch

I thought of a Pokémon name around the same time the games came out called Hydrone being a Hydra mixed with a Drone which is basically Iron jugulus

2D Pokémon games, much like the fan-made ones, deserve to be a thing. There is potential for plenty of content, smoother gameplay, and stable physics.

The Deoxys/Jirachi space station rumor was almost as well known as the Mew under the truck rumor. 99% of them involved the white rock just outside the space station too
I always think that the Ilex Forest is the home of Celebi because of the shrine there which is very similar with the 4th Pokemon movie where Celebi's home was a shrine in the forest. And I always thought the movie was made to suggest this hidden game lore to the audience

Saying that a Pokémon is based on a fakemon creation is a huge stretch (besides lugia). After all there are probably millions of fakemons by now and it's WAY harder to make a new pokemon that doesn't look like one.

It Really wouldn't. Most fan made content isn't good. For every good rom hack there's at least 10 subpar ones. What gamefreak should do is hire the good creators and then allow them to help with ideas.

I once designed a region that had a new evolution for Seviper, Viperil, and a pre-evolution for Zangoose, Yangoose. Zoygoose would only evolve into Zangoose upon leveling up after defeating a Viperil. Kind of similar how Bisharp evolves nowadays.

Can somebody confirm this for me? I remember back before ruby and sapphire came out, nintendo power ran a contest for fans to create a Pokémon for the next game. The winner was sharpedo. I’ve looks all over the internet and couldn’t find anything about that. My cousin and I remember the event very well dude to us trying to come up with an idea, and mailing it in.

i always hate wen people blame the devs for this one greedy thing the company wanted but that's the thing its the higher ups in the company that r trying to rip u off meanwhile I've always felt that the devs of most games have passion for video games I can hear it in the interviews and whatnot that the devs actually like wut they do so its sad wen people think its ok to blame the devs and yes ik some people probably know this but others might not so just keep in mind the devs just want u to have fun while the higher ups want ur credit card info. also ik there r devs that r not good like look at activision blizzard lol their a disaster.
