No representation, No government, Just referred to as Britain unlike the rest of UK. No English regiments but others have even though most of the forces are made up by the English.     • Yes. Listening to British actors do an entire movie while using a completely different accent and then hearing them speak in their "default setting" accent is bizarre! Some of them--all of them!?--do an American accent so naturally that unless you already knew they were British you'd never know that an American accent is not their Native accent. Why can't American actors do the various British accents so naturally and fluently?

He hosted SNL and did this hilarious sketch (with the fantastic Kate Mckinnon!) where he was a controller at an airport control tower, and he spoke with the thickest Scottish accent ever. When they wrote it, he told the writers that he basically wanted only Scots to understand it...but the skit is super hilarious.

    • Many of them do such a great job dropping their accent because I've seen some British actors that have had the hardest time with the rhotic R sound. See if you can find the video when the main cast of Harry Potter attempted an American accent. Emma Watson struggled the most out of the four actors in the video (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Tom Felton).

    • When I lived in London many of the locals couldn't understand my broad Geordie accent, and I couldn't understand them sometimes either. Someone said we "we're on the up" to me in their thick London accent once. I heard "we're on the app" and kept asking them what app they were talking about. The people there also pronounced their R and L sounds as W, that threw me right off for a while.
