  • This is the one thing I've noticed about women comedians. They don't seem to need to breathe. Like, guy comedians take huge pauses, drink water here and there, spend inordinate amounts of time talking slowly or just straight up pausing at the audience. This woman talks for five minutes and I feel like I got 30 minutes worth of information. This is crazy. Her transitions are incredible. Sometimes when I listen to comedians they just suddenly switch topics without warning and it gives me whiplash. But her transitions are so smooth it all feels like one long joke. That's amazing.

    • The interesting thing is...that that's the most common response of a dismissive avoidant attachment style. Of course, some people do have secure, emotionally aware, attuned parents and therefore have a "good childhood". However, dismissive avoidants come out of situations where what they needed didn't happen...which has a very different retrospective view than overt abuse. Dismissive avoidants were usually emotionally neglected...but had their basic needs attended to, clothes, food, education, and practical dynamics, oriented to functionality. Usually there's an unspoken code of conflict avoidance and refusal to talk about, engage in, emotional content. It is practical or intellectual only.

    • @FrodoTheDodo I actually didn't think she was that funny. But female comedians aren't rare to me. I like more female comedians compared to the male ones. In my country we have Sara Kroos, Birgitte Kaandorp, Claudia de Breij, Lennette van Dongen, Plien&Bianca and many, many more. All of them are great. The males are too (Herman Finkers, Najib Amhali, Ronald Goedemondt) but somehow the rest becomes all a bit repetetive. Especially Youp van 't Hek and Freek de Jonge's stories are almost inseperatable nowadays, just political speeches.
