You said in the start of the video, that you had only played one command and conquer game. In that case, i think you really should try "command and conquer generals", it is in my opinion one of the best RTS games ever made.

Stronghold 3 was so shit. I expected so much after 2, the disappointment... But far from the worst, there is Dawn Of War 3, the last 2 settlers games, Empire Earth 2 & 3.
Empire Earth II is surely a deception following the first but nonetheless added some interesting features, I thought (before seeing EE III Trailer), they would later use, so it's definitely one of the worst games. I still play it and enjoy it a lot, compared to the third one.
What's bad about DOW3?
@@Life-tastic You ever play Dawn of War 1 with or without the Apocalypse mod or Dawn of War 2? DoWIII fails to do anything new, and just cuts content severely chasing after an Esports audience, it failed to be an RTS or an RPG or a MOBA and felt like a glorified mobile game riding the coattails of some of the greatest RTS in the genre.

@@Life-tastic You can enjoy a bad game with good friends, that doesn't make it a good game. Same way people like bad horror films for laughs. That is to say if you find it fun, that's cool, you're winning, you do you mate.
It actually looks like they fixed a lot since the launch. At launch you had to micro every unit to attack those next to them, otherwise they would just stand and take the hits.
Looking at this game and its graphics make me feel this is an amazing game. But when you really get into it, it is trash.
The auto sell and auto buy feature was ripped from their earlier game stronghold legends. Which is basically stronghold 2 with meth-logical unites.
the funny part about the Autoselll Feature you mentioned is stronghold Legends was the first game to implement that feature, its actually the first game to impliment a few smart game improving features that none of the other games have like the slider to produce more than 1 unit per click in your military buildings
there is another dissapointment of an RTS and it's C&C4
If this game tops C&C4 then the world has truly gone to $h!t :D

Actually you can change the rations, beneath the happiness and timer for the next peasant to arrive. Well beneath there is a little paper roll. Press it.
I played it tonight and in the free build there are different attacks you can choose that happen. So you can build up your defenses and army and then the AI attacks you. Its not exactly great but it sounds like you missed that option.
You should play the older stronghold games
You right click on the unit icon (when you’re in the menu to train more units) to place a rally point.
This was the first game that I REALLY wanted, but decided to not purchase on pre-order. Damn, was I glad about that.

It's cool that there are blood mist sometimes, Stronghold 2 didn't have that.

this Game is 22.99 on steam right now - yer that's expensive Nuclear dawn I bought for £4 and that does have a skirmish mode

This game would have become a success if there was a death match mode with AI. Too bad they missed it

The objectives are literally impossible to complete in Stronghold 3. It takes a lot of time to complete a mission. Stronghold Crusader and Stronghold 2 are much better.
Maybe RTS games should just stick with grid system for building andpath finding
I love this game
I hear this guy crying for 30 min but what actually does he not like about the game? "I hate this game" "Its got good graphics" "its a reskin" "I don't know the keys" "rambleing about basic stronghold games features that also are included in this game, not directly critiqueing anything spesific" What are you saying? The only real complaint this guy mentioned is that the map is smaller than the other stronghold games but that is just about preference though I agree about bigger maps being preferable in most cases.

I found this while searching what people think of stronghold 2.... It seems 3rd game is even worse
Modern RTS in general is disappointing, I can only think of 3 good modern RTS titles, CoH, MoWAS2 and SC2. everything else is either just a copy of those like Iron Harvest, an interesting but repetitive indie game like They Are Billions or something just complete junk like EE3.

Why
Problem with stronghold games is they are not bad it's just it's basically the same game everytime with a few additions or some things taken away. Or in stronghold 3 s case unit movement coming to a crawl for some odd reason. But in terms of castle Sims prolly cause there are so few still one of the better ones out there you could do far worse. There is just enough depth in stronghold games to keep you coming back. Mostly cause there are no others really to play.
Save your time, just dont play the game, its just buggy and unplayable. Not sure if i have an old version but this is such a buggy mess. Stairs wouldnt connect to the walls and soldiers wouldnt use the said stairs for unknown reason. The ideas were fine but its just too damn buggy. And the amount of space buildings need is also too much - you need a lot of space for just 2 towers and gatehouse connected together + additional space for stairs. Bad idea was popularity - because it affects how fast people are coming to the castle. Hovels also cost too much for what they're worth! I heard people say formations are better than in SH2, but I failed to see that, because my ranged units couldnt form a proper line on the walls. Oh and they get stuck - ANYWHERE - even in an open field :S Walls also cost too much and can be destroyed by infantry units again (in SH2 they couldnt, which was just logical - damn spearmen and even farmers destroyed my stone walls... bich how?!) And there's no range bonus in towers + no additional protection. If youre outnumbered youre f-ed, because your ranged units get no cover bonus when they're on walls. Mine were killed by spearmen because apparently, now they can throw spears with no miss chance breaking olympian records when throwing it directly at my archers even in the highest of towers - i guess that was just normal back then -.- With all that in mind, it was infuriating at stage 5 and its also where i stopped playing. Also you cant access mission info and hints panel, unless you restart the stage. Oh and there's no fast forwarding the game or slowing it down anymore. There also some sapper units that said i can use them in stage 4 but i got no such units... Just like the others said, they could've kept the old games (SH2 included) and just add new features and new campaigns ofc - but no they had to make a game from scratch and make a huge f-ing mess. They couldve milked the old games and everyone would have been satisfied, but they went for the wrong type of milking :S
