Lyn spends a day at Cefnllysgwynne, a beat on the River Irfon, which is a tributary of the RIver Wye in Mid-Wales. It’s a week before Christmas, so the target species is grayling, but they prove difficult to find. Throughout the video, Lyn demonstrates the euro-nymph technique amongst a bleak winter landscape. Lyn's 'top tips' feature is aimed at beginners, or those new to fishing rivers.

Thank you, appreciate the feedback! 👍
Difficult conditions on the day for sure, but you’ve produced another cracking video Lyn. Looking forward to much more to come in 2024. Merry Christmas 🎄👍
Thanks Chris, really appreciate all your help behind the camera, and feedback with this one! Merry Christmas 👍🎄
Lovely river. Thank you for the tips ;)
It is indeed. You’re welcome!
Hi Lyn Whilst the lack of fish was surprising given how nice the pools looked. A positive to take from the day is that not all small grayling have been eaten by goosanders Merry Christmas and tight lines in the new year Peter
Indeed, Peter - always nice to see the grayling shots. Hopefully better luck next time! Merry Christmas 👍
And that my friend is why they call it Fishing and not Catching. All the best in 2024 from Colorado
Indeed Glenn. Tightlines during 2024!
Went to fish it a few years ago, drove 50 plus miles from Pontypool, got all the way to the water, put waders on and then realised that I had forgot my glasses, no spares in the van had to go home, blind as a bat, lesson learned though spare cheapy readers everywhere now, lol
Ah, nightmare! I sympathise, my eyesight has deteriorated over the last few years - I also now depend on glasses to tie on flies!
Lyn great insightful video. How far away is the parking on that beat ?
Thanks Dai. During very dry weather, you can actually park near to the church, but more often than not you park at the end of a lane just 2 short fields away (5min walk).
