Some view the B-52 as ugly, however it has out lasted any aircraft designed to replace the B-52, I served with the 92d Security Police Squadron around B-52's on 15 minute ground alert with special weapons and fuel on board!! We never had a mission fail because of the maintenance teams taking care of the bombers and tankers at Fairchild AFB. Thankfully that nuclear mission never had to be flown, otherwise none of us would be alive today!! Two life long systems, the B-52 Bomber and the Jeep!!

I dropped a few bombs on that island in the 1980s. Looks like they now have a camera in the bomb bay so no one has to crawl back there and check for hangers. Good idea.

It's crazy how long the B-52 has been in service. I wonder if the aircraft that eventually replaces it will even have humans onboard.
Hello Minot! I spent many hours on that ramp as 5th BW Flight Safety.
The 20mm radar directed gatling gun was removed from them. Dumb idea. They still had them when I got out of the USAF in 1990, and the G had the quad .50 M2 installation, also radar directed.
