Here in Brazil we have suffered from this for a few years. Now things got so serious that even though it was the most restricted country in terms of hunting, it was released for what we call "JAVAPORCO", a cross between wild boar and domestic pigs. They destroy huge areas of plantations, and they reproduce very quickly.

If it is like here in Oz, the carcasses will be stripped in 24 hours by big birds (not the Sesame Street kind, either), assorted scavengers and OTHER PIGS (if "nicer" food is hard to find. Rule Number One of being in the pig-infested "great outdoors": DO NOT "break a leg". Rule number two is to ALWAYS carry a rifle and ammo and emergency comms.
