After skydiving and flying in a fighter jet together, James is ready for a different kind of adventure with Tom Cruise and invites him to the historic Pantages Theater in Los Angeles to join the cast of "The Lion King" live on stage for one night. Tom may be the biggest action movie star in the world, but is he ready for "Hakunah Matata" on the boards?

Each week night, THE LATE LATE SHOW with JAMES CORDEN throws the ultimate late night after party with a mix of celebrity guests, edgy musical acts, games and sketches. Corden differentiates his show by offering viewers a peek behind-the-scenes into the green room, bringing all of his guests out at once and lending his musical and acting talents to various sketches. Additionally, bandleader Reggie Watts and the house band provide original, improvised music throughout the show. Since Corden took the reigns as host in March 2015, he has quickly become known for generating buzzworthy viral videos, such as Carpool Karaoke."

  • Imagine somebody telling their friends they went to see the Lion King. “Ah, that’s cool.” “Yeah, who would have thought Tom Cruise as Pumbaa?” “Yeah, that would…SAY WHAT?” I've seen Broadway musicals like Mamma Mia, Beauty & the Beast, and Little Mermaid in person, but Lion King remains my favorite Broadway musical. I got to see it when I was a kid Seeing the animals go down the aisle right next to me during the Circle of Life intro blew little me away. And James and Tom being a part of the musical made it even better. The chemistry between them is so infectious. And the duet of Can You Feel the Love Tonight is the icing on the cake. This was payback for Tom for all the stunts he made James do throughout the years, but I must say kudos to Tom for being a good sport! So fun to see Tom Cruise being silly but with such commitment. I will miss all the crazy, innovative humor that James Corden brought to his show like Carpool Karaoke and Crosswalk the Musical. I wish him all the best as he returns home for the next chapter. • Here's some Lion King musical facts: The musical debuted on July 8, 1997, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the Orpheum Theatre and was successful before premiering on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre on October 15, 1997, in previews, with the official opening on November 13, 1997. It was then moved to the Minskoff Theatre from New Amsterdam to make room for Mary Poppins (which has since closed and now Aladdin performs at the New Amsterdam), where it still performs today. While this version of the musical is the touring version, on Broadway, it is the third longest-running show in Broadway history, and has grossed more than $1 billion, making it the highest grossing Broadway production of all time. Over 112 million people worldwide have seen the musical and it has earned numerous awards and honors, including six Tony Awards, one for Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical, making director Julie Taymor the first woman to earn such an honor

  • I was just grinning/smiling all throughout the video, especially on the part of their performance. It was an extremely a good laugh watching this. How lucky those audiences witnessed this rare moment on stage with Tom Cruise. I would literally cry my heart out and lauded scream my heart for joy. Plus, that sexy and charming face and voice of Tom. As a theater artist/enthusiast and an action movie enthusiast at the same time, I wish I was in the place of those casts to witness personally. James and Tom are such a good duo.

    • I was hoping the same, but most of the team probably would not be willing/able to move. Also, it just wouldn’t quite work the same way without access to A-listers at the drop of a hat. British humor (especially talk show humor) is very different and most Americans wouldn’t relate unless most of the writers are using American humor melded with accents of James British flavor. I do hope they’ll do some special reunion shows occasionally with their entire team and band and/or online bits. He also could have kept doing Carpool Karaoke online from London, but maybe there were copyright issues that wouldn’t allow it. I could watch those forever. I still frequently watch my favorites on repeat. I hope James will keep his heart close to us here in the US and still do projects where we can enjoy his comedy.

  • Seeing The Lion King on stage is beyond amazing. Like breathtakingly incredible. I love James Cordon. He is hysterically funny. And I still love Tom Cruise. Remove his personal life from the equation. As an actor, he is brilliant. Seeing James and Tom in The Lion King is funny and awesome!!
