This time, I made a solo stove, a solo camping stove, using two stainless steel food containers(BMP, Bain Marie Pots). Secondary combustion is possible, so there is almost no smoke, but unfortunately, soot is observed
Thank you for watching.
Always be safe and have a fun camping.
Stay safe.
Disclaimer: Using a stove in a confined space can be very dangerous. When using a stove, be sure to ventilate properly and be prepared for fire or other safety accidents. I am not responsible for any loss or injury caused by carelessness.

  • I made one like that out of a 55 gallon barrel and an old water heater tank. The tank was just the right size to fit inside the barrel and leave a 2" space around the outside of it for the air to pass up the sides. It works perfect, no smoke.

  • Brilliant work 👍👏👏 You might want to fit a cone shaped cowling on top to direct the secondary flames into the Center [so in more control over the flames that emerge at the top]

  • Camping together This is awesome very innovative compact and portable. Will not rust. Well though out!!!! You may wish to add the following. A band around the bottom holes.if you add a strip of sheet metal band like a ring around the bottom holes that moves straight up and straight down, you can then increase or decrease the amount of oxygen coming into the burn. This will lower the flame and prolong your fire. Also by being able to push the band down and reduce the amount of air intake it will cause a rocket stove effect, making it more efficient. It appears that right now you may have too many air inlet holes available.this may actually be reducing efficiency and not allowing of the rocket stove effect to be created. Separately if you want, get some flexible 1/4 inch copper water tube. Make a coil over the stove pore the water into the copper tube and out comes hot water. To shave or wash. Woman like a hot shower when camping to stay clean . If it's more like home and enjoyable they like that. Always nice to have a friend along. This is so compact and easy to make, I love it. Maybe some frigerator shelving for a grill top on some all thread and wingnuts so it can an collapse and store easy.

    @morayjames92@morayjames924 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks! When I burn pellets. I see soot on the pot. Firewood is better!

      @campingtogether@campingtogether4 жыл бұрын
    • @@campingtogether You know that the soot is simply un-burned carbon and indicates one of two things either a too cool primary burn or an insufficient amount of air at the secondary air inlet to burn off all the carbon. You can do one of two things to rectify this or perhaps a combination of the two will result in the best outcome. First to try is to begin to block off some of your primary air inlet holes to choke down the primary burn, this will increase the heat of the bun and also slow and prolong the overall burn time. Do this using some steel machine screws which fit into the primary holes, the screw head will effectively block off each hole.Being steel you can use a magnet to easily install or remove the screws at will. If that does not solve the soot problem then you will need to increase the size of your secondary air holes at the top of the burn pot, make your size increase by small amounts and then go back and play with the open area for the primary holes. You should quickly get to the point where your burn efficiency has been increased enough to consume all the carbon which is forming the soot. This will result in a hotter burn temperature as well as a longer overall burn time so it will be well worth the effort not to mention that your stove will no longer deposit soot on you pots. You have such a wonderful stove build it deserves to be perfected. Thank you again for such and excellent stove design and video. Regards moray james.

The weird one is used to enlarge holes to a fixed standard set of sizes.

  • That's nice clean looking build. Flame colour is a very good indicator of stove efficiency the bluer the flame the more efficient the stove is. Smoke and soot are indicators of un burned wood gasses and resins. The easiest way to adjust your stove if it is making smoke say when you place a cooking pot over top is to choke down on the primary vent area (the vents on the bottom of the inside burn. Most often when a stove smokes it is because the stove is burning more wood in the primary burn which creates the smoke you see and there just is not enough secondary air to effectively burn off that smoke up top at the secondary burn so the un burned smoke escaped the fire. All you have to do is to reduce the open area of your primary burn holes. You can do this by dropping in a can lid large enough to cove the bottom of your burn pot. dill hole in the lid but drill fewer than the stove had to begin with this will decrease the amount of smoke and when you get the balance right you will have enough secondary air to burn all the smoke generated in the primary burn. A really good air ratio for Primary Air to Secondary Air (P:S) is a ratio in the range of 1:4 - 1:5, with the number one being the primary are vent area and the second number being the secondary air vent area. You need a lot more secondary air to burn up all the woodgas that your primary burn releases from the wood about 4 - 5 times as much air. I hope that this is of interest and that it helps. No need to make any physical changes to the holes in your existing stove just add a lid to the bottom of the pot that has a new set of holes drilled into it. You can experiment with differing ratios to easily find the best match for your stove.
