Video tutorial on typing a Scaffold Knot. This is a noose style knot or adjustable loop knot which is fairly simple to tie. A metal or plastic insert can be used in the center of the loop in order to protect the rope from any damage. It may be difficult to untie after heavy loads are applied though.

@@Note_D3v Oh yeah, I had to hang up some family portraits. I wanted to start being "DIY" this year so I thought might as well 😄😄😃😄😄
Thank you so much! I was looking for a good way to hang my chicken feeders so it’s adjustable. Invaluable knowledge I will keep forever and teach my kids. To some it may be just a knot but when you never knew how to tie one properly, this is game changing.
Glad it was helpful and thank you so much for the kind words!

Thank you, this video was really helpful! I'm creating Hang Tags on Silhouette and it was useful to know how to make those knots.
Needed this for a long time. Thank you.
It’s a good night thank you. I am a scaffolder in Canada and we love using that knot even though we’re trained not to use it. We’re not allowed do use slipknot. We have to use bowline, Timberhitch or clove hitch with a half inch on it.
Awesome knot. Great explanation. Thank you.
thanks youre a life taker
Best video on a Slip Knot. This appears to be the simplest way to tie the slip knot. Thank You! So many videos on how to tie a knot but not many videos on the knots with an object attached.
It is a synching knot but it is not a slipknot, nor is it the easiest.
That's a really simple knot, and so useful. My second favourite to the Taut LIne Knot. Thank you.
You saved me! I have been looking for an hour on how to tie this knot. I was asked to fix a friends bracelet that used this knot. I've been looking at jewelry knot videos so imagine my surprise to find your video. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
And you made it SOOOOOO easy. I'm such a happy camper.

Such a simple yet beautiful knot.
This is one of the best knots for tying dyneema and spectra. Most other knots are diminished in strength by the lines slippery nature. Thanks.

Which type of knot is the tightest kind? Do they all work the same and won’t break if there’s too much weight?

Most of us watch this for a specific reason...guess what???😊
Strange,I make a very similar knot but after making the loops I put the bitter end under the loops toward the main bend as opposed to away from the main bend.Makes a slip knot as well but don't even know if it has a name!Hope I made sense!
A brilliant and useful knot know this one, 😉thanks for the many.
Thanks for the useful video I might need this in the future.
Es formidable esta información, será un gran hobby.
OK, I watched your presentation today.......Now, what is this knot good for, what is th epurpose of this knot ? Thanks
You can call it what you like but I know it as the “Centauri knot “ also known as “Drop liners knot” as seen in many fishing knot books. It is a great knot that retains most of the lines breaking strength and can be tied in light line and very heavy monofilament line , fluorocarbon and braided cord. I use more turns in light line and less turns in heavy (say 150lb fluorocarbon leader).
Thanks for the info. I didn't understand most of what you wrote though. (Too many jargon words). But it looks interesting. Any relation to Alpha Centauri??
I made a toy for my dog with this tie, thanks a lot! It's pretty simple shown and understandable
Awesome to hear and thank you for the feedback :)
Hang and release game?
Thank you I soooo needed this
My grandfather was a merchant marine, & he taught me lots of knots, by the time I was 10...the bowline being the favorite of them all, but this "sail slip-knot",( that you call a scaffold knot)...he showed me to lay my finger next to the rope & wrap around it and the other rope. then to push my finger tip out with the rope tip. He said, when your aboard ship in the wind, you don't loose your place. He said, "Man-boy"...if you can tie good knots, you'll have a good reputation! ...pass on what you have learned.
Thank you for sharing.

so that last wrap nearest the loop dont end up slipping inside through the previous wraps an messing it up or does it depend on rope thickness and quality ?
Which not do you recommend to tie a 32mm sisal rope to a pull up bar? The know should be strong to hold at least 100kg

Chilling words.
Oh boy, you good?
Well explained, thanks.

Explaining the application of this knot would be useful .
Here you go. "The Scaffold Knot makes a sturdy loop that slides like a noose to fit snugly around a bar, rail or other object. It may be protected against wear due to chafing by the insertion of a lining called a thimble, creating what sailors refer to as a "hard eye"."
It's actually called a cats paw. And it's also extremely effective and easy to use this knot for tieing kunny bags full of rights. So I can see how someone could call it the scaffold knot. However a clove hitch is much faster to tie and more effective for rigging tubes. Just gotta remember a haft hitch at the top and your flying

Thank You for the video. Is this a secure knot for hanging stuff like stained glass suncatchers? This will make my life so easy. Clients usually ask to shorten or lengthen ropes during flea events and it's so time consuming to change the rope for them. I can save a lot of time and effort now.
Glad to help out :) It was commonly used on sailing, so it's definitely a strong and reliable knot. You can also insert a thimble lining in the eye so it protect the rope from damage depending on what someone hangs your sun catchers on.
I'm not sure why I ended up on this video, but actually this knot is also used in climbing/caving as a main attachment point. It's usually referred to as a half double fisherman or just as a double overhand on itself. It's very secure. You can make it triple if you're worried of slippage, depending on the type of cord you're using.
I like the constrictor hitch.. And the fig 8 cordage keeper
Thanks man, you're a lifesaver
Thanks..!!

Nice demo. Isn't this just a barrel knot?
Thanks bro
makasih ya kak sekarang aku dh bisa bikin nya
Thank you so muchhhhhh!
How much weight does this hold.
I prefer calling it a double overhand noose, because its a noose tied with a double overhand knot. The double overhand knot mostly dresses itself this as you tighten it. This way you don't have to carefully pinch the first coil in place and then try to thread tag end through the coils.
Jonmnkb
i prefer calling it emergency exit
What are some examples of a purpose this knot would be used for?
hanging things. p.s. don't put it around your neck and jump...
Do you like the Fisherman's/Scaffold better than the Anchor Hitch and Buntline?
+Jules Bartow The Scaffold knot has always been known as a strong reliable knot. The least favoured out of the three would be the Buntline knot due its tendency to jam under heavy loads.
