s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DeS... - great steel scraper
In previous videos, we made various woodworking machines such as wood chippers and splitters, but this time we decided to do something that would make cutting wood into blocks a lot easier.
A 2.2 kW / 3 HP motor is sufficient for such a device. Even with high pressure, the chain turns without any problem.
Thanks to the foldable structure, the whole thing is very maneuverable and does not take up much space.
If you are interested in topics related to wood, branches, check out our machine building videos.

  • Yes, 2 comments for 1 video. After watching you use the machine I just felt the need to say I think your videos are inspirational. It's good to see young(er than myself) people not afraid to work with their hands and make things to make life better. The last few generations seem to be moving to a buy-and-dispose mentality, when with a little effort things can be made, skills can be learned, and life can be improved.

  • These setups work really well to cut firewood. I've always thought that the chainsaw is running a bit slow as the electric motor runs only at roughly 2700 rpm and they're designed to run faster but the cutting speed is very good. Keep up with these videos, they're great!

    @lucasandri5462@lucasandri5462 Жыл бұрын
    • I too was a bit surprised how good it cut at about 2800 rpm as the motor used here. I'm not sure how fast a chainsaw engine runs, but I guess it's at least 5000-7000 rpm. Wonder if there exists chains designed for slower cutting that could be even more efficient?

      @everythingexplained@everythingexplained Жыл бұрын
    • Petrol chainsaws run on around 12k up to 15k rpm, but no much torque, but tha chain speed is that mater on petrol chainsaw, if i recall corect, idle speed on petrol chainsaw is around 2000 rpm.

      @laurentiumartin7722@laurentiumartin7722 Жыл бұрын
    • It's about being at maximum torque for best cutting. The battery electric chainsaws you can buy run a bit less than half the chain speed of a 2 stroke, but they cut just as well because there is no torque curve like an engine, it's just maximum torque all the time. The 2 stroke has a narrow band which is why they bog down if you let the revs get down too far. Same goes for an electric motor like this one, it is at 100% torque from 0 rpm to maximum rpm.

      @tun0fun@tun0fun Жыл бұрын
    • @@tun0fun That's something that's kind of scary to me in this situation...one slip, and there's nothing to stop that torque from running right through your arm. I didn't pay attention to how fast it stopped, but then, you can't see exactly when he releases the button. I hope that's a "dead man" style switch, where you let go of it and it stops, rather than the click on, click off type. I'll have to watch him run it again and see if I can tell how fast the chain stops.

      @eyellgeteven9928@eyellgeteven9928 Жыл бұрын
    • @@eyellgeteven9928 You could possibly use a SawStop type system on this which would make it far safer than a chainsaw since you can't stop a chainsaw in the same way. It would be a great improvement.

  • Very good work. The only thing that is less good is that the motor stops after each cut and has to start again. It draws a very high current, which in the long run reduces the life of the windings. It is best to switch off the engine only when changing the trunk and let it run between cuts.

  • I loved the video. The machine itself wasn't terribly complicated, but the things that really impressed me were the simplicity of the oiler, and the attention to safety features that frankly I would have never even considered. Wonderful job.

    • Actually kind of stupid. Not many have the tools [machinery] needed to make this. If you can afford the machines, you can definitely afford a $1,000 dollar log cutting system. Reminds of a video similar to this where some guy used $80,000 at least in machinery and wasted two hours of his time to make a table clamp that you could pick up at Lowe’s for $15.
