Hi Lesley and Jordy, The yellow pot on the stove is made in France as you said by Le Creuset. My husband Will has a large collection of the original red Le Creuset. It really makes me sad when I imagine the last family member sitting there before dying looking at the empty house which was once a lively place and remembering all the happy moments spent in that house with his/her family.
What's sad to me is breaking into someone's house and making money for it but they wouldn't have a video because they would be told no

The wine is only viable if keep at a constant temp and humidity level. Which they may have, but the two bottles shown are drinking wines, not collector wines. So the wine isn't worth much more than when it was bought.

Why are so many places abandoned with everything left behind? It seems so strange that no one would want these places.
I know! This looked to be such a much loved family home, and it was as if they just walked away and didn't look back, even leaving their clothes. Just can't figure that.
Death. Infirmity: physical or mental illness requiring hospitalization. Children living overseas and unable/unwilling to sell or to deal with the property of a parent who died or entered a long term care facility. Property haunted by spirits or entities unwilling to move on. These are just a few potential reasons for abandoning places.
No family left or they bankrupt so bank have the house or sumn. Here my neightbor house sold after more than 10 years and it have furniture left and sold too

The reasons vary, but probate taxes after a loved one has passed are quite high in Europe and some relatives cannot afford the taxes so they let the property go to the government.
I love the way you are able to find out about who lived in these beautiful places. Their stories make it much more interesting, and also sad that all the belongings and photos, noone wants. The hidden wine cellar was just unbelievable. Thank you for another epic explore.

The bird you referred to as a peacock is a pheasant. You put so much emotion into your videos and handle their belongings with so much care that it gives much respect to the people who lived their lives in these places.

I loved the cottage you stayed in at the beginning of this video. I enjoyed this video the only thing I don't like seeing is the taxidermied animals but I under stand that people took pride in their hunts/kills. Thank you Leslie for sharing.
I love watching your videos of old houses. I think this one was refurbished in the 1960's going by the style of cupboards in the kitchen, known as cathedral style (I had the same in my home here in Canada). I think the billiard room was either a rebuild of a collapsed portion of the house or an addition because all the stone pointing is not very old. The bedroom which I think was above the billiard room was part of the rebuild?? fireplace more decorative than original. At some point in time this home was ransacked, judging by the upstairs and tell tell signs of small piles of belongings under tables, in corners. Someone has cleaned up the main floor rooms and staged them. The beam that you said was sagging, there was no sign of cracking in the ceiling plaster and that ceiling also looked like it had been repointed, the room above that room also had the same sag but no cracking in the plaster ceiling, which again were probably refurbished in 1960's. Also the upstairs was only tidied enough to do interesting photographs by previous explorers. The magazines brought from the storage room to add to the ambience in the other rooms. Definitely a beautiful home, lovingly restored around 1960's. I am devasted to think that this lovingly restored home, with all the modern convieniences added, has been left to decay once again. I do hope you closed all the windows, even though you did not open them, to hold back the weather from penitrating once again. Thank you for showing us what happens when families no longer care about their parents or ancestry homes. This particular home could be cleared, cleaned and be in use today. I apologize this is so long.
I have a cooking pot similar to that one. Mine is green. They are so heavy because they are made of cast iron and covered in porcelain.
I’ve got a blue one, they last for decades don’t they. Had mine since roughly the year 2000, it’s still going strong.
It's made by Le Creuset - the best! But not covered in porcelain, Karen, you couldn't put that in an oven! It's a metal glaze.

@@Susitamarie You are right, Susi - the Dutch have been making these things for 300 years. They call it a 'braadplan' or a 'sudderplan' (a simmering pan). In 1891 a Dutch company started to make them under the 'BK' brand-name. In 1925 two Belgians opened a foundry in Picardy (north-east France) to make Dutch ovens with a coloured glaze - the first ones were orange, to reflect the colour of the moulten cast iron which in French was called 'le creuset'. They took that as the brand name - and you can see it imprinted on the pot in the video. Thanks for raising this interesting bit of history. Michael.

Hi Lesley, Bros of Decay, Again such a wonderful explore video from one of my favourite explorers! - I already liked the start in that French cottage, where you spent together with your explorer friend the night. That is actually a very beautiful place looking nice and cozy. - The carride added a little bit of a roadmovie vibe to your video, when your were driving on that road, and the sun was slowly rising. - Beautiful! - In the abandoned French mansion I managed to see through your eyes the beauty behind the very advanced decay, that was visible everywhere in the house. - Especially the living room and the dining room with this antique furniture were so beautiful to see, and of course the "pleasure room" with the beautiful chandelier, the pool table, the bar and the very beautiful antique furniture was a pleasure to see! A true time capsule! - How you were imagining the life of the former inhabitants, was again once more so touching to listen. Wow that was one of the most interesting homes. Great job. Loved the vanity and bed frame. Also the beautiful french vase with the Victorian people. The light over the dinning table was awesome. Beautiful chandelier from a yoke made for ox! I am glad you are not fat or we would not be able to see inside this mansion! Wow! You are so young! You look as if you are at least 30! You have great respect for the past. My husband wants to know if you know of Dr. Pol the animal vet? He’s Dutch. That is a silver dollar plant in the pretty vase. You rub the flower between your fingers and inside are the seeds!
It's a shame you can't locate someone who knew the family that can tell the story of these lives.

You are a truly good story teller and you should write a book about all these adventures you are on and add lots of photos. I would buy it..

I was going to post the same thing. He's a very caring person. Even the stuffed toys. In one eisode he tucked a cute little bear in bed and made it comfortable for it. . I loved it ❤️
What a wonderful privilege for you being there in the house and realising you are the first entrant on this date in your life. It must've tremendous meaning for you.
You boys remember this happily, as time goes on and you may not be able to squeeze through 18”. My friends and I explored colonial and early American abandoned places in the 1970s, young compared to most of the places you boys, (men), find. Bravo on another A+ adventure.
The green decanter set might be valuable. I wish you had shown it longer. They had it going on there in their younger days it looks like. The wooden mirrored thing on the wall that you stated had something to do with pool is where you store and display the pool sticks when not in use. I could see the notches to hold the pool sticks in at the top part of it. A very cool place indeed, Lesley.🧡💚💛

Hello Lesley and Jordy! Thank you for the travel back in the time in this exploration. Very interesting place all details in the decoration. Only I was not enjoying the taxidermy 🐗 in the year the house was abandoned I was 27 year's old .Really incredible the any person go inside of the Mansion for to long time but What is happening with the rest of the family? . I was having the similar tape recorder in the 1990. How many memories inside of the place? 🤔. Please stay safe and many hugs 🤗 💖 ❤ 💋👏👍
I am so sad I missed this premiere! This mansion was absolutely amazing!!! I really love all the furniture and the intricate details carved into it. You definitely do not see architecture or craftsmanship like that in the USA. You and Explomo seem to find the most astonishing and breathtaking homes that look like they come straight out of a fairytale.
Loved the villa you stayed in.. absolutely gorgeous! Makes me want to build a new home and put in some French accessories..

What a wonderful xplore Leslie such a beautiful home full of curiosities. Especially the hidden wine cellar !The wooden stand in the billiard roon is for storing cues. And you are correct they are wild boars. I was tickled to hear you were born like me on 13th July even though I was actually 41 the day you were born !! Hi Leslie. Great video. I think that the shelving unit next to the billiards table is actually a gun rack to hold rifles and shotguns. Looks like one my great uncle had with the same mirrored background.

Another amazing home just rotting away. I just love the stone walls with beams in the ceiling. I can't believe how much stuff was stored upstairs. A lifetime stored up there. Another home I would love to move into 💞
So amazing how as she passed away you were born. This as all meant to be for some reason we may not know, but the Lord knows. You have been guided to this home.. It had to be such a lovely home. Am not crazy about stuffed, dead animals, but other than that it is really nice! So much could have been done at one time anyway Thank you both for going through all of this to let us explore with you. Not easy to get in through the window but you did it! Unbelievable wind cellar is hidden away! Probably to be hidden from the children and yet they would have known anyway am sure. lol
Lovely home and well worth restoring if this home were in England it would be snapped up quickly. The home appears to resemble a castle and was probably built in 1890 or the early part of the 1900's. Some of the furnishings were Victorian French design and in excellent condition.
Nice Le Creuset pot that’s really expensive, cast iron with enamel; wild boar; elk (not deer); holds cue sticks; jackal; setee or loveseat; pheasant, not peacock Nice little country French house. Love the L’Illustration magazines. This was a really cozy French country home. Very pleasantly livable, comfortable. If it’s way out then the husband would’ve hunted some on the grounds. Wonderful attics! In the carriage house that was an ammo belt for shotgun shells, not a gun holder (I believe you meant ‘holster,’ which it still is not). Wonderful old place there, loved it! A cooking pot like that is known as a Dutch Oven and is worth about $60 U.S. MINIMUM. I love those polka dot cups! There is a FORTUNE in wine in that cellar. OMG. That fox is CRAZY. That place is EPIC. A treasure trove of history. So envious of you.

I am guessing most of that wine is no longer good. Too many years. In the billiards room, the mirrored wall rack is for hunting rifles to sit on. I find it a little strange and possibly a bit disturbing that there was a pad lock on the door leading up to the bedrooms. Great location again!
Quite right, Bill - although the labels have rotted off, this doesn't look like quality Bordeaux or Burgundy, so it is not wine made to be laid down and matured. It's probably gone to vinegar by now.
